@ @supermettalicafan--- bradman was a true great, no doubting that, but he played against the same set of bowlers and in same conditions all the time. there were no one dayers then and he probably played against those english/south african bowlers more than he did against bowlers back at home. so given the wide range of players(bowlers) that sachin had to face up to and overcome is a big factor.

In his first series against Larwood, (close to 100mph) he averaged 66.85 and in his 2nd, 139, and over 50 in the bodyline series. His average was far above anyone in his time but Sachin's is not. There are many modern players with an average close to his (Kallis, Ponting, Waugh, Lara, Hussey, Dravid). Sachin is a beautiful player to watch but he is statistically not much better than the next.

@SuperMettalicafan Well there has been many batsman that bat as fluently and elegantly as Tendulker so that doesnt make you a great batsman, Viv Richards wasnt elegant but he would smash the ball all around the ground and considered one of the best batsman of all time. In Bradmans era the batting conditions were a lot worse, hardly any protection and uncovered pitches, whereas the pitches nowadays are flat batsman friendly with a few good bowling pitches.

But, as most cricketer experts say, in bradman's time there used to dramatically slow bowlers. Plus, the pitch used to be longer. there was very little bounce and swing was an unknown phenomenon.
