Saw UFO several times in the mid to late 70's. They were so flying under the radar in those days. Blowing away the headliners every time I saw them. Too bad Micheal was such a head case. Met him in 1990 (MSG Mark II) here in Orlando. What a nut job. Robin McCauley apologized to me for his behavior and gave us backstage passes and we got to hang out with the rest of the band. Michael wouldn't come out of the dressing room.
I five and I love Ufo. I dont believe all people um like crap like Justin Beaver. Ufo is better and I wish all bands sound like these. Today music suck -
LOVE IT LOVE IT. those were the days.I saw these guys so many times in the eighties and loved each and every show but one thing I do remember more than almost everything was the amount of gorgeous booty they had in the bars at the HAMMY Odeon and all had guest passes. UFO WERE MUCH BETTER LIVE THAN THEY EVER APPEARED ON VINYL. I miss those days so much.
No no no no! Of course it's good, but where are Prince Kajuku galactic love etc, speak the Decca Years... play this on concert and i will travel everywhere you want for you. Yes i know my english isn't good but i try to explaine what i feel . Yes i am the biggest U.F.O fan in germany, since i am 14 years old and tody i am 21.
I saw ufo and ac/dc for 3 dollars back in the day...called the new wave invasion tour.....they blew ac/dc off the stage...3 encores....angus got booed and shit thrown at him when he mooned the audience. Times sure change.
UFO - Unmatchable Fantastic & Original ROCK . I cant say all, second thought yes I can say all bands today claiming to ROCK are bull shitting their fans as to whats ROCK.
ebeen a fan since 75....Sr. in high school....summer before college one of my best buddies went to our favorite place to get high. I saw him in his souped 71 Chevelle driving there,,,,He had his shotgun and blew his brains out all over his front seat...in the tape deck was this tape....Fuckkkkkk!!!!
I'm 15, and in LOVE with UFO. I really wish I could of been alive at this time. And I really wish more people my age listened to these guys, instead of the shit rap/pop in this generation.
@xJustJuliax Make sure to add Thin Lizzy and Early Scropions with Roth to your listening routine as well...the three most important bands in hard rock history.
The real early stuff with Eric Bell is good, but the stuff from Night Life on with Scott Gorham and Brian "Robo" Robertson is the best. When I was 14 I bought "Live and Dangerous" just weeks after it came out, still listening to it 33 years later.
@xJustJuliax I saw them in San Diego in 1977 or 78, can't remember what year exactly but they were awesome. My favorite is Love to Love. Great music, keep rockin!
@xJustJuliax Hey bud , a suggestion ; get yourself a vinyl turntable a good amp and, copy of strangers in the nighton VINYL and get ready your head torn off dude. @xJustJuliax I'm 51 and would like to go back to those days with you. It was a better time and freedom was in it's glory days. We could do almost anything back then; and the music was the backdrop.
@xJustJuliax hey yeah this is when MUSIC was just that MUSIC .. not today's bullshit ! it was a GREAT Time for the REAL Metal / Hard rock ..only problem was No one Got ANY AIRPLAY ! there was no you tube we had to buy the albums ( when they were vinyl or 8tracks ) way before cd's

Grew up on UFO, Rush, Sabbath, Nugent, Trower, Travers, and US Bongs, lol. Aside from the obvious great tone and phrasing Schenker had/still has, singers today could learn a thing or two from Mogg, he also has great phrasing, tone, never tried to sing beyond his range, stayed right in the pocket, knew when to hold back and come in just a little behind the beat to make ya wait for it.
Saw these guys open for Rush on the Farewell to Kings tour. It was guitargasm that night. Schenker was awesome and it was hard to say between him and Lifeson who had the better night. Great just great.
@shirtshine73blitz All sue respect to Alex Lifeson, but he's no Schenker dude. 1977 thru the time he left ufo in 1979, he was untouchable by anyone in Rock.
@believer06 All respect right back atcha. All I was saying was on that night, in my opinion, it was hard to say who was best because they were both so great.
@shirtshine73blitz gotcha. Im a Rush fan as well. 2 of my best friends saw them and UFO on that tour youre talking about. It was the show b4 the one in Chicago for Strangers in the night. Schenker's amp went out right as he was beginning his solo to love to love. In a rage, he pushed over the Marshall Stack he was plugged into. Paul Raymond ended up improvising most of the solo on keyboards.
@believer06 When you consder how primative those sound systems were back them who could blame Michael Schenker? I had a Marshall blow out on stage in front of an agent and had to finish the set plugged into the second channel of the rhythm guitarists amp, it sucked and the agent blew us off but oh well.
@shirtshine73blitz Man, that must have sucked. You guys were probably cancelling each other out, going thru the same amp like that. I was in one band where me and the other guitarist didnt even use our amps. We both plugged directly into the board. It wasnt too bad and it saved on space,
@believer06 How can you compare Schenker and Lifeson... they are completely different guitarists, with totally different styles.... Lifeson is a brilliant guitarist in his own right... I hate all this comparison crap... and to say he is untouchable by anyone in rock is just plain silly.
@hawkinscraig05 From 1974 thru 1979, the band centered around Schenker. Once he left the band, UFO's momentum and popularity went with him. Pete way even said that whenever they wrote tunes, they made the rhythms behind the solos simple and long so Schenker could rip some of the most awesome melodic solos over the top of them. To this day, I have yet to hear ANY live rock albums which could even come close to Strangers in the night. Every single song and solo on it is awesome in every way.
@JasonHi Never been a fan of Blackmore. Mainly due to his sound. Hate strats. Too thin. If I listen to him too long, I get a headache. Love Schenker's warm tone.
My buddy and I used to drive around in my 1969 Dodge Dart and party while listening to UFO in the 80's. What a blast from the past. Why do I suddenly have an urge to find some pot and smoke it?
As many UFO songs that have been covered I am surprised that this wasnt one of them, incredible band with a lot of talent to bad they didnt stand the test of time.

@rhinoal no. it was at orange show stadium in san bernardino california. it was an outdoor figure 8 race track the amplifiers towered about two stories high and i would say 50 yards on both sides of the stage acdc cranked it up all the way. they just came out with theyre back in black album. so it was the first i ever heard of them.
its my understanding that this song was a story told to him from a firends dad when he was a kid. later turned it into this song. ww2 must have been hell for so many people.
@austingunsmoke I disagree. As great as the band was, there would have been no UFO without Moog either! One of the most underrated rock vocalists ever in my opinion.
to bad the did not tour canada much-i think they opened for rush once-one of my favorite bands Mike was a guitar god long befor the likes of van halen and rhodes to bad they never hit the supergroup status they deserved
Phil Mogg is just AWESOME!! He rocked my teenage world...as did Steve Marriott of Humble Pie. The best, however, is still Paul Rodgers!!!!! Rock on.....
@Fanofald Maiden formed in 1971 but they have never ever retained the original members actually Irom maiden today has none of the forming members in it. as for UFO you cannot put anyone to schenker from that era, Not Iomi, Murray,Richards,Page. the combination of Moog's vocals with Schenkers screaming blues sound you cannot recreate.
@MrWifeaggro yeah way to get served. learn your Maiden history before you try to explain it to other people. Steve Harris IS Iron Maiden. Founded the band, writes all the material, and fires and hires the other members. And hell, even though Dave Murray wasn't a "founding member" he was hired on in '76, so he's as close to an original member as they get. Just thought I'd throw that in there :P
One of my favorite solos ever. Schenker goes nuts all through this song. Does anyone who that is on rhythm guitar seen toward the end? He's a lefty playing a Firebird upside down. I'm a lefty too, so I dig that.
UFO played at the 'Scene' night club in Latrobe PA back in 1978..you had to be 16 years old to get in, I was 14 at the time..I didn't get to see the show...bummer!! It took me 4 weeks to save up the 6 bucks for the ticket.
Always loved these guys, particularly when Schenker was on board.Deserved a lot more success than they enjoyed.Up there with Zep and Purple in my opinion.
these guys and a band called Gamma are the most underrated rock bands ever-gamma is a lot like ufo only they use a lot of synths and keys but they still got really cool riffs and solos
Fred 'Stump the Strunk' Trunk brought me here. Thumbs uyp yall. Btchs don't like UFO; well, fck mine; no btch will stand btweeyn me and my favorytse METAL Baynd.

UFO doesn't "get off" on such cheap thrills

Phil Mogg is just AWESOME!! He rocked my teenage world...as did Steve Marriott of Humble Pie. The best, however, is still Paul Rodgers!!!!! Rock on.....

UFO/Iron Maiden - Long Beach Arena - Summer of 1981. Ah....those were the days. Michael Schenker with MSG is still sounding great these days.

two comments...Michael Schenker is German not British....and Iron Maiden were playing when Schenker was still in Scorpions
Fanofald 1 year ago
@Fanofald Maiden formed in 1971 but they have never ever retained the original members actually Irom maiden today has none of the forming members in it. as for UFO you cannot put anyone to schenker from that era, Not Iomi, Murray,Richards,Page. the combination of Moog's vocals with Schenkers screaming blues sound you cannot recreate.

@MrWifeaggro Actually , Maiden was formed in 1975, by Steve Harris and he stills plays in the band to this day
Fanofald 1 year ago

Best UFO tune ever!! Excellent footage here!
UFO played at the 'Scene' night club in Latrobe PA back in 1978..you had to be 16 years old to get in, I was 14 at the time..I didn't get to see the show...bummer!! It took me 4 weeks to save up the 6 bucks for the ticket.
