Madolyn Smith is absolutely gorgeous. I loved her acting in this series and am sorry that she didn't do more during her career.  I've seen her in a couple of other small roles, but this was her shining glory, imo.

i love you all for seeing what i saw when i was 8 years old and still believe to this day that Madelyne Smith as Tracy Whitney is something to behold. I discovered her while watching her on VHS when Sidney Sheldon and Daniel Steele series were the range and thank god for DVD i can have her forever.

When I first read this, I thought the Chess duel was brilliant, that was when I was still in high school..decades later, I thought the chess thing was stupid. Still, I love the novel.

The chess scam is not brilliant because of the idea , its because how they perform it , one of the best portrayed scams ever imo.

On the contrary, I think the idea of a chess scam of having the 2 masters actually play against each other is brilliant. How they executed it is questionable. I mean the moment Tracy leaves the first table after the first move will make people think already that she's up to something. Then she comes back and makes her move. At that point it's easy to deduce already what she's doing.

Well, neither the movie nor book shows he wasnt allowed to the other room...its just that they couldnt communicate inbetween. The assistant idea is just in the movie...no mention of Melnikov's assistant in the book!!!
