Is it possible to hook it up to a USB wifi adapter? I have an adapter that supports Mac OS X, which some of the Imac G3 400 Mhz systems have, would that make it wireless? Also, what kind of DVD's will it play, I want one, but I want to make it wireless. Or would I need a airport card?

1998 Bondi Blue 233Mhz running OS8.5

They all run great I love the old CRT iMac designs.

Upgrade firmware last version using mac os 9, then check for torrent dvd, I could not install using cds, but dvd works fine (os x tiger), also be carefull that torrent should be for PPC, not intel

You can only legally download it if you have purchased it before and no longer have a working disc. Otherwise buy a new copy of OSX on eBay. Be sure to check you have enough ram, ect.

My old computer was an iMac G3 Snow with 500MHz. We got a Graphite iMac on eBay and swapped the body and the Snow is now a 700MHz, quite a good computer for it's age. I preferred Snow though haha. :)

Its nice to see a G3 like that in good condition, I've got an old DV 400MHZ (Grape) its a fantastic computer, Have you thought about overlocking you're G3? all you need to do is swap round some resistors on the logic board.

Apple no longer sell Tiger retail, but you might be able to get a copy off eBay. Also Apple sold Tiger in both DVD and CD varieties so it's not a requirement to have a DVD drive.

I have a g3 imac just like this one. When you turn it on an imac smiley icon appears in the middle of the screen and it stays there. I haven't used it in about 6 yrs and I DON'T want to give it or throw it away. HOW DO I FIX IT? HELP! I'm an imac lover and this computer did great when it was working...I refuse to give up on it.

I think it simply requires a reinstall of the operating system. If you have a Mac OS install disk, put it into the iMac and hold down the C key on the keyboard. It should boot to the CD. Then you can install the OS from the CD and the iMac should boot.

Macs that classify under my collection (New World PowerPC), I have one, a tray-loading iMac that I'll be doing a video on soon. And yes, I do have one Intel Mac. Why? Because in order to stay up to date with Apple stuff, I'm going to need a fairly new system. Besides, Snow Leopard is rumored to release Intel only meaning I'm going to need an Intel Mac to use up to date software, and if I don't, I'm going to be forced to use old software. But, don't worry. I'm still a huge PowerPC fan.

Great video. I would put more ram into it to improve the performance.  You are running Tiger 10.4 at the bare minimum amount of ram now so if you put more ram in you will see a difference.

I have 2 400MHZ 2 500MHz and 1 600 MHz (All have 256MB Ram) and they all work at ok to good enough speeds. It will take a bit of time to do stuff but if you don't load to many apps and junk onto it it should work well. Only the slightest bit slower than panther (I upgraded them)

Actually it's not as rare as I thought it was when I made this video. In fact it's quite the opposite. In 1999 the iMac DV Special Edition (which only came in graphite and was the only iMac at the time to come in graphite) was the most popular iMac in the series.

No, any standard hard drive will work in an iMac. The iMac in this video had an updated hard drive to a Seagate one. You should easily be able to install OS X on an iMac.

It depends on how fast the CPU is. My iMac is 400MHz CPU speed. It works well with iTunes (except video), work and internet browsing. From time to time it can be a bit slow but otherwise, it's a good machine. So it's not extremely good for some tasks but it's excellent for what I do which is mostly, iTunes, internet and work.
