1) Indulgences weren't invented. They existed since the beginning of the Catholic Church. If you read history, you'll know that Tetzel (look him up) abused indulgences by scaring people into buying them. Why would you say Democrats hate inheritance? We support the inheritance tax, which is set for those receiving 5 million or more. There is no tax below 5 million.
In the U.S. gay families are not included in the federal antidiscrimination laws. We can be denied jobs, housing, and services. We also do not have the right to inheritance, hospital visitation, or a thousand other rights and responsibilities granted other families.

When a person dies, their property goes to the spouse, relatives, or the government. If a person has spent 30 years married to a person of the same sex, they are not considered in the inheritance at all. Legal contracts are contested by family, and in some cases like Greene V Sonoma County, 40 years of marriage and a contract did not stop the county from seizing their positions and sending them to separate nursing homes, they were not even permitted to keep photo albums.

Gays are often kept out of hospital visitation, and making medical decisions, even if they have been together for decades. Our Children also lack the same protections and rights as straight family’s children.
We have fought hard to escape the ghettos, jails, and mental institutions, but still have a long way to go before we are truly equal citizens.
This is what Christian Churches are fighting to keep in place, and spending money intended to serve Christ on.

It does not happen every time in every place. I would estimate half of the nation’s hospitals would deny access. Some will deny even after legal papers are presented.
Whenever traveling gay people need to check for which hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and communities will serve them.
It is not as bad as 20 years ago or more, but it still happens.
