Huh, this opening theme gives the game a more light hearted feel then 63 1/3. Due to the lack of back story, eery music, and disturbing imagery in some of the background stages I just assumed the game was trying to focus on dark humor instead of straight up silliness.

Suck or not, Sculptor's Cut was definitely the superior version of the game. This amazing intro is just one example (why did we only get a boring island rotation in the original?). I remember when Blockbuster made it rent-only, but later it was dropped and you could buy it, probably at Toys R' Us. Actually, I played Sculptor's Cut in order to finally play as Lockjaw (dog at 0:25). High Five's fun too.

@Folgrimeo i personally think the 63 1/3 despite the lack of some characters had the best game play, it was a perfected killer instinct combo system and mixed with street fighter and mortal kombat

the only downside is that once you master it, you gotta play with experts only

The December issue if Nintendo Power (which you likely can still find on newsstands and at stores like GameStop; look for the Donkey Kong Country Returns cover, page 30) talks about it, including screenshots.

The bottom screen will be nothing but the fighters and the arena, and the top screen will be the portraits of the characters currently fighting, the time and health meters. It's also confirmed via screenshot that Sculptor's Cut characters are in it (Lady Liberty is seen).
