I don't mix up the cross with Christmas.

Yes, Christmas is a pagan holiday. Yes, the cross was a pagan sign. But Rood is acknowledging that Jews were crucified on a cross for that reason. Really, who picked how Yahushua would die? YHWH.

To me this just confirms that Yes, the cross is likely the sign of Yahushua's death. Paul said he would boast in nothing except the cross. YHWH picked the cross, Paul boasted in it. I boast of it by wearing one.
