Nice review. This is one of my favorite games of all time (the SNES version). I've played through it several times. It's really addictive as you said. I tried the Genesis version and just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime though since I didn't really play it for that long.
I love both Shadowrun games. I played the SNES version first and I was hooked. Then I played the genesis and didn't like it.
HOWEVER, after going back to GEN I gave it a chance and now prefer it, weird right? I switched because the GEN feels more like the PnP game than SNES does.

Ok listen to me u sad fuck! Go die in a hole of fuckin ball swet u peace of shit plus who gives q shit about the rpg shadowrun it's 2d mothe fucker so like I said di very slowly.. Andpainfully
@sire198 How about you die you worthless piece of shit. Atleast retrogamer makes vids and shares his passion with fans. What do you do? Just talk shit using broken english? Your a failure in life. Learn to use periods at least; this would be a good start.
I actually didn't care for this review. Though you DID mention the Sega Mega-CD and you also bashed the x360 Shadowrun (which I agree, sucked), you hardly touched on the Sega~Shadowrun which was inarguably superior to the SNES version. You spent more time on your intro video and overly long-winded explanation of the original pen/paper game than you did on any kind of decisive reviewing at all. The "shortness" of the SMD version is because it's a SANDBOX game, one of the first, unlike the SNES.
Don't judge the new shadowrun because its different from the franchise. Judge the game on its own terms. In my opinion, its one if the most balanced online FPS around.
@Ladude5 - If you have played the other Shadowrun games, you'll notice so much stuff that've done wrong that you'll just hate it. Shadowrun on PC and Xbox 360 isn't very fun at all (I own it) but the main issue is the things they've changed around in it. So to say.
I actually liked Shadowrun for the 360, thats actually where I met most of my XboxLive friends, cause personally i like first-person shooters a little more than RPG's
As a kid this game completely captured my imagination. I can tell you appreciated it as much as I did. And i totally feel the same way about the Genesis version, the end of the game snuck up on me. I thought I was less then half way done when the game ended. I didn't play the Genesis version again because I was really frustrated about how short it was. I have replayed the SNES title about 4 times.
i was thinking about getting this but i wasnt sure. it looks great.
There are actually alot of great series/games that they never came out with the nxt one, it would be cool if there was a company now days that just picked up the story line for em.
This is quite a timely video actually, considering that Catalyst Game Labs - the current license holders for the pen-n-paper version - are going through a massive embezzlement case from one of their founders. Unfortunately it looks like the company may have to fold...but hopefully someone else will pick it up again!
I had one of those SNES game copier things with floyyp disks. I would rent 5 games at a time and they would ask me, "how many nights do you want to keep these." And i reply, "Just one day rental, thanks." Couple times I rented few games, copied them, then returned imediately and got store credit for rental next time, because I returned them so fast I oculd not have had time to play it, said i got called into work so had to return them immediately. 10 Rentals for the price of 5 that way haha
OOOOH MAAAAN I forgot all about this game. Jesus H Christ... what a classic. I frig'n loved this game and wasted a lot of my childhood on it. Daaaaam yoooooou Super Neeeeeeeessssss
shadowrun is a really interesting world... I'd like to see a modern game ( not just a multiplayer fps lol ) I remember playing the card game years ago ( it was actually really cool ) I never played the original board/book game but loved the game... reminded me of a medevil genre meets blade runner or somethin really cool... would love to see a remake.
Awesome review, love the intro lol...I'm a retro gamer myself, have to try it put now. Nothing new about a dissapointment from a retro game braught into the next gen consoles..lol.
Hey ed...I just got this game for 25 bucks...good deal?

but everything else sounds the same

@hobocamptheater - Yes, both are very similiar. Except Johnny were just a decker or mnemonic as it is called in that.

I loved Shadowrun for the SNES. I even bought it off EBay.
The SEGA version was different, though also great.

Shadowrun for the 360 and PC was beast! They should've done an MMORPG, but the FPS was still cool.
