  • I wish florida had soil like that.....

    its sand :(

  • Metal Detector just went up on my wish list.

  • what brand and model detector are you using? I'm interested in starting out with good equipment. Thanks

  • @econewpower ...All that information is on my homepage..Have a look..I will send you a PM as well.

  • I always here the word clad mention. what coin dates are considerd clad coins?

  • @MrThunderhaze007 .....We concider Clad coinage. To be dimes, quarters,Half dollar & dollar coins produced 1965 and after...Those produced 1964 and before ,were 90% silver.

  • @AmericanCoinHunting 1965-1970 halfs are not clad. maybe a silver-blend

  • @m4nikm4ti .....65=70 halfs are 40% silver...All other quarters ,dimes ect..Of the same years are clad of copper /nickle mix..Thanks for commenting, but I don't remember metioning half dollars at all in that video..What was your point there..If you don't mind me asking ?

  • @AmericanCoinHunting u responded to the clad question. I meant to add to it.

  • lol this reminds me of my days in NS as a field enginner clearing the road of mines. have fun

  • très belle vidéo

    merci du partage

  • nice silvers.. where are the nickels?

  • @umrgolf2000 ....Did you notice in the begining of the video ,I said...(Alright....Here's how I Cherry pick for Silver ? )....When I cherry pick for silver coins..I optimize my hunting time by digging the most promising silver signals....Nickles are not the most promising silver signals...But I do dig them on most of my regular hunts...Just never when I am "Cherry Picking" for silver coins...

  • Great findings! I wish I could use a detector in my country: Portugal.

  • Awesome finds as always

  • Great vid. Thanks for sharing

  • Really this is great, good luck, you got rich!

  • where is this california?

  • like the video

  • are these local parks?

  • @AmericanCoinHunting bo problem man. love your videos.

  • @coltenandscott ........Yes

  • Very cool. After watching the first vid, by coincidence, my wife found a 1919 penny. I just might go for a detector now. Thanks for sharing the hunt.

  • @AmericanCoinHunting -thank you.my husband knows a lot about coins.in fact, he lost his job and it is the only thing he does for now.buying and selling coins.i want him to enjoy what he's doing and i also am interested in what he's doing.we were really interested in doing treasure hunting even before that's why i got excited when i saw your video and he was too when i showed it to him.anyway, hope you'll have more good finds and blessed hunting...

  • awesome.my husband loves it. if i may ask, about how much did you get your metal detector and where?is there a particular good brand?thanks in advance

  • Thank you for looking in vancachz18..But I do not think you would like your husband spending that kind of money/,unless he knew where allot of silver coins were,or a stash of gold somewhere...i will tell you where you can get a detector online. You can make the choice of which one to get...Kellyco dot com is a good place to get prices & see what is out there..The detector I use is a bit overpriced I think..But is the only one I will hunt with.It is a (Minelab E-Trac) Paid 4 x 2 with my finds...

  • Pretty cool!

Do bums bother you much in parks?

  • @notoriouskelly ..........Not often.............Crack heads bother me more often than Bums...Maybe every 3rd or 4th hunt...Comes with the hobby

  • Very nice, the fun is in the search!!..

  • You do a great job with your videos! Thank you for sharing them with Kellyco!

    ~Jamie

  • the best place is the old newyork city trainstations underground i heard some city employes found some priceless coins

  • Are you using a spade to dig? Do you ever just use the the digging knife and a garden trowel? I use them...figure the police won't give me a hard time if I'm not carrying around a shovel. Great videos...btw.

  • Hello 0BarberDan0 , My digging tool depends on the site..If the park is well manacured & taken care of...I use a Leshe,or Bonsi digging tool..Putting all the dirt on a cloth, and being careful so that there is no scar, and the grass will heal in a few days to a week...On the other hand ..if the grass is poorly maintained,& there is mostly clover, dirt, and crab grass...I am not hurting anything by using a two foot gardeners shovel..If I only kill clover & crab grass ,what is the harm ? Right..

  • COOOOOOOOOOLL

  • Great job! Love your videos - very informative. Especially the summary at the end in writing. Keep up the great work!! HH

  • kool

  • nice work man where do i get a metal detector like that? and i saw a video you did where you went to a bank and ask for old coins. Do you know where i can go (website) to find out what coins to ask for? I know newer coins dont have coper and or silver in them i have been collecting old pennies 1981 and older i think are copper but i sure would like to step up my game on the silver side. Thanks For your Videos!!!

  • COOOOOOOL

  • Cool hobby, very interesting!

  • We have a metal detector to it is fun isn't it.

  • very cool video we enjoyed it thanks for sharing

  • I love how you take great care to leave no trace of a hole that's been dug. i wish all hunters would do the same. Great video keep making them.

  • very cool video*****Aurel

  • very cool video sir, thanks for keeping me in the loop, I always enjoy seeing people doing what they they enjoy. Very interesting hobby~~

  • is it legal to dig in public parks?

  • @cruiscinlan ....Yes ...as long as your city has not passed an ordinance against it.

  • ive been detecting for many years. never have i had a day that good. i found a couple glory holes of silver but never had a day like that

  • I did not read all that you wrote or I would not have put down what I did. I was not trying to out do you , I just read what the guy asked and went to typing. Working as an engineer for all these years kinda makes me get ahead of myself sometime.

Great videos and finds. Thanks for putting them up for us to see!

  • Hey no problem...I thank you for you explanation...I have allot of viewers that do not understand like you do...So I try to give an easier to understand explanation....Most people think you can turn it on and amazingly...Within 20 minutes they have 5 silver coins...They have not a clue of how a detector works...Or how difficult it is to decipher the language it gives back...Thanks again for your explanation..Your helpful comment is much appreciated .Daedalu

  • Great video. I haven't detected in quite a while. My old Garrett doesn't have all the slick stuff they have on detectors nowadays. but it works.

  • @AgentThis99 ....No Lynn....My hat was a gift from a detecting buddy (Lookin4Seated)....I will always cherrish it....In fact ..I still owe him a dinner for it...I have had many questions like yours...Maybe ,someday ...I might find out where he got it ....and do a Hat giveaway....LOL....Thanks for your comment Lynn.

  • WOW!!!THANKS FOR THE TIPS,AND FOR THE EYE CANDY,CONGRATS FOR YOUR FINDINGS,YOU BEEN VERY BUSY I WISH YOU MANY MORE DAYS LIKE THIS ONE,GREETINGS FROM CALIFORNIA;)

  • Wow, thats amazing!!!. Very well done matey.

    All the best.

    John.

  • Great vid. Thanks for posting. CCH

  • The detector does not use magnetism to find the coins , it uses what is called eddy currents , that is the voltage that is built up when the magnetic field goes over the metal.

When it sees this it uses filters and timing of the voltage decay to be able to ID the target . Each target has a different decay rate , each type of metal that is. Some metals are more conductive than others like Silver and Gold. Gold is harder to pick up than Silver . This should help you understand !

  • Thanks Daedalu ,I understand ...But I was trying to explain how a detectorist could tell between a ferrous & non ferous target....I tried to explain that disctimination on a detector has alot to do with what you hear audibly...And that Iron is ferrous (Magnetic), and Non-ferrous is non magnetic..Like brass ,copper, silver ,gold ect...Like I explained to them...I did not think they would have understood the proper explaination like you gave..& I didn't think I had enough text room...Thank You

  • Thanks for the info and the vidra...

  • That is a good hunt, looking forward to your next one! Hh//vISBY87

  • what a bounty of coins.....

  • Excellent hunting but I guess you know that virgin sites like this that havent been hunted are pretty hard to come by. Especially in my neck of the woods. Your site must have had a lot of use in the 50s and early 60s . I dont know your location but hopefully if you found this one they are other untouched areas in your vicinity. Good luck in the future and thanks for an entertaining video.

  • cool hobby looks like fun.

  • SO COOL !

  • cool!!!

  • another gr8t video

can you talk about how you select the park you are going to hunt?

I live on the northwest side of chicago, the area was settled in the mid 18 hundreds

i'v been to perservs and some parks but dont find much silver

    I have white machine (mxt)

  • @svenskoxo ..........I am going to send you a video...that should answer your questions brother.

  • Great video(s) Dave! unfortunately, these local parks where I live aren't as old since you're in the Chicago area. However, still going coin-shooting is a great hobby. Watching your videos are certainly inspiring and want me to continue looking for more. My last hunt it was too windy, so I couldn't record anything unfortunately.

  • Super ;-)

  • great stuff. found money is awesome. another way to simply find money without digging through the dirt is simply go to the bank and buy a roll of nickels. presently a nickel's melt price is worth almost 7 cents. that's over a 30% return on your investment guaranteed. Buy a million dollars worth of nickels and you make $300,000.

  • wowza that looks fun

  • haha i dont know why but i find your videos so interesting.. i have never found intrest in coins but i think what u do is just soo awesome!

  • @downwithcheesecake ..................Thank you brother

  • wow... have you ever found gold?

  • Mind the park keeper doesn,t catch u diggin holes

  • @hoplite46 ..............I am leaving the parks I hunt.............The same as I found them.....You must not know how to properly recover a target if you feel that way....I have seen the grounds keeper come and watch me dig 4 targets & not say a thing...Whats up with your recovery method ?...Do you need Me to make you a video on the proper way to recover a target ?...I can & will if you need help !

  • @AmericanCoinHunting Yeah I am sure you do hope every one else does too . Just having a little humor

  • @AmericanCoinHunting Why not make a video on how to dig in a park.

  • @elucidative ...Can you elaberate ?...What exactely do you mean ?

  • @AmericanCoinHunting You mentioned that you may do a video on how to execute a recovery of a coin buried on public property.

  • @elucidative Thank you for answeing back and clarifying.....I am going to send you a video by (Chicagoron61)..He made the video that I wish I would have made on (Target Recovery)...I know you will enjoy it...

  • MUITO INTERESANTE..

    CONTINUI...

  • just awesome, makes me want to go out and do some hunting myself.

  • pure silver is non-magnetic so how does it spot pure silver? Question from a complete novice interested in hobby. Does it spot non-magnetic metal? Anything besides metal? Sorry for being so dumb on this.

  • @w0tm ....Dude..I have no idea what you are talking about...The Silver coins I find are 90% silver...And Non magnetic....So what IS your point brother ?

  • @AmericanCoinHunting Dude? Brother? You look over 35 guess not. I was just asking a simple technical question about coin hunting. Looks like an interesting hobby. Sorry I offended you. I've dropped your channel and won't contact you again. My apologies.

  • @AmericanCoinHunting wOtm may mean, how can the metal detector detect silver as one presumes it would not contain any iron? it seems like a reasonable question to me. would you be able to address this? i think it's an interesting question myself. thank you.

  • @roaringwaterbay >.Maybe I didn't understand the question as wotm put it.....A metal detector can see items that are Ferrous (iron & magnetic)...and non ferrous..Like brass bronze copper, gold & silver (non-magnetic).Metal detectors have what is called (Discrimination) that is adjustable...The discrimination can knock out..(Cancel the audible sound) of anything you would like..Coin hunters do not want to dig iron nails ..So we discriminate them out..Letting us hear only the (Non ferrous targets)

  • @AmericanCoinHunting OK, I guess a metal detector can detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Thanks for the info.

  • @w0tm i think detectors work on the density of the metal not on magnetics.....

  • Ever wonder if your wife takes a few dollars of coins each night and buries them to keep you out of the house and out of her hair? Just kidding. Still, you might want to put marks on coins to make sure you're not digging same coins. Have friend who goes on fly fishing trip every year.$500 a day with BEST guide. MUST be catch and release - others caught a few while he caught 200+ a day.One day he found his guide releasing catch out of sight up river.Best guide in great demand! Wonder why?

  • can i get that metal detector before this country gos to hell

  • You are one of the luckiest men alive! if not one of the richest! rock on buddy! I am next! lmao!

  • you spark imagination adventure hope you stumble on something big soon

  • cool vid i wish i get some coins like that

  • Nice hall man. They don't care about digging holes if you cover them right? That is what it is like here!

  • Nice video! Congrats!

  • LOL! This reminds me of back in the old days when people wisely didn't trust banks and buried their money in a can in the backyard. Can must'a rotted for those coins...:))

  • I live in Hawaii and thinking about buying one for the beaches. But the only one I can find is a cheap $350.00 one at Sports Authority....are those any good?

  • @DavidBylsma ......You did not give the name of the detector...If it is a Garrett ace....It will do....I don't know much about any of the other detectors

  • @AmericanCoinHunting Ok...I'll try and get the name and run it by you....thank you very much.

  • Cool! Findin' treasure!

  • enjoy your hobby, i hope you run a business with your coins soon. good luck

  • Always enjoy your videos, but REALLY like the training- type videos. You're a Saint to us new guys. Thanks A LOT Dave!! Request (without puttin' ya' out too much): Like to see more pre- dug signals- even the crap- to see what comes up.

  • do the city officials get pissed when your digging holes?

  • @SIERRAHPBT ..........If there is no ordinance against detecting , and I dig & fill my holes properly...Why would I care what some elected official thinks ?....I pay taxes & vote !

  • @AmericanCoinHunting hahaha... love it.. I am going to start doing this. love your videos.

  • 30 pieces of silver? Hmmm... be careful what you trade for them. That parks going to look like a WW1 battle scene. :O.

  • @DanieljDixon ....I cover all my holes & the grass recovers in a week or two...The more manicured the grass is...The greater care I take in making it look nice...

  • @AmericanCoinHunting It was just humor, I can tell you are a considerate guy... so do your thing. Nice finds. How much was that MDetector? You probably paid for in just this video? Brand?

  • @DanieljDixon question from cmplete novice - sorry -

silver non-magnetic so how does metal detector pick up pure silver? Does it detect ALL metal? Sorry for dumb question.

  • what do you use to clean your coins that dont bring the price down?

  • @Danielcoinsandmore ...........Rinse with water...pour dishwashing liquid over the coin..Gently rub...Rinse,and pat dry....It will only remove the loose dirt...But for a rare coin....I would only rinse w/water & pat dry anyway..

  • Enjoyed every second. What an awesome spot you found. Hard to find places that haven't been hunted out.

  • Happy hunting! Keep the videos coming.

  • Hi Dave! Great video, thanks for this info - I just started the hobby with a Garrett Ace 250 - keeper finds so far: a needle threader @ 3 in. in an old campground, and 3 1970's Canadian pennies... and loooooots of old nails lol! Love it! :D

  • wow ...interesting...:))

  • Can you recommend a good metal detector?

  • @Lengarces .........Minelab Etrac, Whites MXT, Whites XLT....Google them to find the specs & pricing....If your budget is lower...You will have to research something that is in your price range..I use the E-Trac

  • I always get excited when watching your videos because of all that you find, then I think about it and then I get mad because of all that you find...LOL
