  • Did this one hold up over time as well as the Lansky retrractable diamond rod?

    Thank you!

  • @Rasenkrieger I haven't had this long enough to give a value, but I expect to use it throughout the year while in the field

  • Nice, But I am to inconstant on my angle to use one

  • @medicjimr just close your eyes and sense it :)

  • Looks like a very effective sharpner unlike some I bought in the past.

  • ★★★★★

  • I just purchased one on eBay. I can't wait to get mine. Thanks for the review.

  • Good to hear. Been toying with the idea of getting a portable sharpener. Like the different ends as it makes it more versatile.

  • nice piece to put in the field kit

  • Reckon why those shapeners still have fishhook groves? I've heard if you put lazer-sharp hooks through them you'll just succeed in dulling them.

  • @richardelam100 hence the hook from around 1958.

  • Very timely video I've been thinking about an in the field sharpener for touch ups. Was looking at a small DMT diamond sharpener, it's 2 sided. I like the different profiles on this rod version. Thanks a bunch partner!

  • I like it. Seems safer and easier to use than those teeny little carborundum rectangles, and it probably lasts longer, too.

  • Looks like a great sharpener! I bet that table has some stories! Great vid!

  • Nice vid!

  • I'm gonna get this

  • You can sharpen a recurve with it!

  • For under $10, I'll add this one to the flat retractable that Survival Mike had on Waldhandwerk, for a very nice (covers all) combination. After all, they are only to knock off the burrs in the field real fast. The regular sharpening is a home ritual all its' own = ) Thank you my Pa. pal. I enjoyed the vid and recommendation, as always. You guys rule. ~Wolf

  • Good tool and job, my friends, ...I´ve the same now. Happy day, Sepp

  • I got the same one!

  • they're handy for sure, and remember that the diamond sharpeners will "break in" after use for smooth out. A lot of folks think they are too aggressive but they will settle out after while

  • I have one of these they work rather well the only issues i've had are the pocket clip broke off but not a big deal at all and on the bottom side of it the plastic black piece has fallen out once so i just glued it back in which was more of user error.

  • I have one similar, but it doesn't have the tapered end. Works pretty well. On longer blades, I keep the blade in one spot and work the sharpener like a fine file.

  • @HawkLMT I just might try that with the flattened side. Thanks for checking in, brother!

  • Looks like a very useful item to have, thanks for the review. Hope you guys have a great 2012, take care.

  • @rchopp thanks rchopp, the best to you!

  • You need a patina on that Mora :)

  • @ArtisanTony lol, I think there is one around here on which we did as you.

  • not so good. it does the jobs but too rough on the edge to obtain sharpest edge which you want for any hand knives.

  • @maxinpains at around 8 bucks, it does the job of keeping a knife serviceable in the field.

  • @usframe yeah, i know. i did own one before.

  • It's really awesome that you don't show platinum plated knives ...and they all show honest to god field use. Happy 2012!

  • @mrmonkeyman50 yeah, we are users... wait for the Blur review
