  • To be a fly on that wall

  • BEST CONCERT IVE BEEN TO

  • thats how you drum - FUCK!

  • is Chris Walla wearing Crocs?.. lol

  • great bassline

  • doesn't Chris Walla look like Jonny Greenwood in this video?

  • Is Ben playing a Telecaster?

  • @Alpeche21 No I can't remember the name of the guitar though. They have like super good sustain. I think their gear is listed on their website though.

  • @Alpeche21 Tmoench1116 is right, if you look at their old website (which is linked to on their new one) you can see their gear. I believe the guitar is by G & L

  • @Alpeche21 yep, its a G&L bluesboy? pretty much a hollowbody tele with a humbucker in the neck position. sounds awesome!

  • These guys are a huge influence for my own bands sound, love em

  • The dude on bass, I like his beard. Looks awesome.

  • G&L is cool

  • His voice, it's just so flawless. I cant even - this band is magnificent! Such an amazing sound

  • SO GOOD.

  • the reason ben gibbard makes such good music is zooey deschanel

  • Comment removed

  • @detectivetimchoi Actually he has only written one song about her, "Stay Young, Go Dancing". He said so in an interview.

  • I love this song :)

  • will always love this band have since i was like ten lol

  • W.O.W.

  • i love how death cab dont make songs about... partyıng.sex.drugs and frıken booty.. there orıgınal and they no what there doıng !

  • God, their music is so perfect. It just astounds me as to how they can be so flawless.

  • fuck i cant find my kapo!!! it makes me wanna play this song.....im gonna try to talk my band into doing a cover of this song with me ;)

  • 18 people are brainless twit Justin Bieber fans who wouldn't know what good music was if it slapped them in their stupid pathetic faces.

  • @libidomosquito u mad bro?

  • @mikekelley not now that I have you as my new best friend in the whole wide world.

  • Mesmerising.

  • Thumbs up for the Fender Starcaster!

  • 18 people listen to rap...

  • Love this! Jason McGerr totally goes wild on the cymbals at the end--epic! The guitar part for this song is not actually that difficult... It was the first Death Cab song I learned.

  • Best live band I've ever heard!

  • Seeing them tomorrow at London, super stoked!!

  • @slugworth63 You can say anything you want, but you're flat out wrong. This is good music. Go be a douche somewhere else.

  • @slugworth63 Then why listen to it? Why comment on it?

This is excellent music in the opinions of many.

  • @slugworth63 u must be black..

  • @Slybacon19 I am black and love death cab so that's probably not the case. He is probably just dumb. :)

  • @slugworth63 no hook? do u know here that sick guitar riff?!?! no soul?!??!?! are you deaf?!!?!?!?! no solo? lsten to their other songs you fuck, no EVERY song needs a solo... specially when its this good of a song... let me guess, you like rap....

  • @slugworth63 You apparently dont know anything about great music, and apparently your deaf too. This band totally Rocks!!!

  • Well thought out lyrics and just plain awesome song.

  • Crap, that Spiderman annotation made me spit out my coffee all over the floor lol (thankfully I turned my head away from the laptop!)

  • this song is sooo good

  • They're so in tune with each other, unlike most other band that perform live.

I could listen to this over and over again.

  • yep, that is what you can call music.

  • The drummer and bassist rule this song, driving Gibbard's great lines into perfection.

  • god this is such good music.

  • jason mcgerr and chris walla are the tops!!

  • Hey, it's almost a BUILT TO SPILL song.

  • Hey, it's almost a BUILT TO SPILL song.

  • What kind of telecaster is he using?

  • @bravesat2 I think its a g&l bluesboy, which is essentially a fender 72 thinline tele without the f- hole

  • @bravesat2 It's actually a G&L ASAT Bluesboy. Killer guitar.

  • I think that i have found another favorite song.

  • ahaa wayy to good.

  • is it juest me or doesn't the bassist look like zach galifinakas

  • this song is addictive

  • Not too many songs sounds as great live, but this is AWESOME!

  • A few observations. Did anybody notice the pumpkin, clofford hanging by it's ears, and what appear to be panties or something hanging on the wall by the control room window?!? Also, that mic that gibbard is singing into is one of those new Neumann stage condensers methinks. Damn that's a nice live mic haha.

  • Such a great live sound. Flawless drumming.

  • @spoof1011 Not just the drumming m8, guitars, bass + singing.. they all are =)

  • @spoof1011 i think the drumming in dcfc's songs are secretly my favorite part..

  • WOW!

  • I still love DCFC, but they Narrow Stairs will never compare to Transatlanticism. It's like something is lacking from their new stuff.. but I can't put my finger on it...

  • @connorv5 I love all of this stuff. Now.. I have only been a fan for a few months now and have not been following since the beginning, but I love how each album does a great job of standing on it's own as an amazing piece of work. Just listen all the way through =) It's boring when bands do the same thing all the time anyway. Narrow Stairs is my fav, and the open door EP! =O

  • Is it possible to get a full video from somewhere, the whole ''concert'''?

  • @buhrberry I was just thinking the same thing dude

  • Wow.

They're as good live as they are in the studio <3

  • A very powerful song Ben.Thank you DCFC. (I can't get it out of my head either.)

I know of many "Cath's" in my life.

  • What cymbals is the drummer using?

  • @AccoladesUK Paiste Signitures I think, you can tell they're paiste cause they are really glassey, not much trashiness in them =]

  • This song is amazing! It's been nearly two years now since I found out about this song and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. I love the guitar work. There should def be more bands like DCFC.

  • i love it how it all builds up and they go crazzy at the end bit!!!!!suchhhhhhhhh a good song

  • the lead singer kind of reminds me of neil young. great song!

  • zack galifianakis shreds bass?

  • like KINGS OF LEON

  • @pribidado no

  • @pribidado NO NO AND NO. Death Cab or this song is not like Kings of Leon!

  • Everything single aspect of this track drips creativity. I love this band.

  • wow i thought this was the album version recorded and them just lipsyncing thats how good they sound....

  • jason is a drumming god.

  • @yellowlamp1313 u are totally right!

  • its nots my taste but still a very good song

  • Good performance!

  • Starcaster wtf!

  • all the gear they have, from the starcaster to the paiste cymbals to bens tele, i must have it now!!!! delish tone for sure.

  • This song kicks ass to the tenth power

  • I agree with the immaturity thing, judging someone by their appearance is a bit of a childish thing to do, but I guess noone is perfect.

  • I'm young and I'm lovin it. All my friends are into Ke$ha and stuff, but I like this. The difference between my life and Youtube is that I don't mind what music people like, like I don't mind what religion or race someone is. I also don't care about what age someone is, and don't make generalisation's based on it. Let people have their pop music and like your own, so that people into this kind of music can enjoy without hater comments.

  • @MusikProductions123 well said

  • anyone hear a slight radiohead feel to this song??

  • @BlackyNeedsALeash yeah I do actually, now you mention it :) They're both great bands

  • @BlackyNeedsALeash yeah. i was about 13 or so was when the album with creep came out. i was having a hard time putting a finger on the source of the familiarity. i tried but don't really like any of the rest of their music, but this song seems to hit the same set of nerves. vastly depressing. powerful none the less.

  • Who's the guy with the swoosh bangs?

  • @gadadhoon

    he's so cool right~!

i think he's chris walla but im not too sure

  • 3:06 fuckin' a, man!

  • they are one of the most lyrical bands I've ever heard! Awsome

  • @mwtillotson well i guess you like them better,i prefer guitar in my music

  • This is nothing compared to old death cab,but i guess no one here even appreciates or knows the old stuff

  • @drcheesemeat

The Photo Album, Transatlanticism, Plans, and Narrow Stairs are all better albums than Something About Airplanes and We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes.

  • @drcheesemeat Don't think you're some esoteric and elitist music genius who is the ONLY one to listen to old deathcab.

    You're not.

  • so yeah. this song is amazing :)

  • i love his voice but its like he never trys

  • It is pure beauty the way they compose their songs the lyrics have eligance and fit together just right and the music just flow and makes you so emotional

  • @leafvongola. its a telecaster bro

  • incredible song, i will always love it, everything just fits in perfectly

  • The bass and drums in this song fit together so perfectly!

  • Does anyone know what kind of guitar Chris is playing?

  • I still pray that I don't turn out like this song.

  • this song always makes me think of college life :)

  • This song can always put me in a good mood =)

  • One of my favorite songs from them. Simply amazing...

  • WHat happened to the HD version of the vid, with the "synced" AV?

  • Lyrics and great melody. This whole album is top.

  • I love the beginning of this song.

  • I love this band! oooooof!

  • Wow, I got the lyrics SERIOUSLY messed up in my head.. xD I thought he would say, "With a well intentioned demand" and "Like someone would pole volt a crying child" XD I'M SORRY!!!

  • @KapeKaper lol

  • @KapeKaper hehe you should make a misheard lyrics vid xD

  • @KapeKaper Hey you could write your own song with those lyrics instead!

  • @KapeKaper retarded?

  • Nick looks like Zach Galifianakis.

  • THUMBS UP.

if this bassist is fuckin'g amazinng.

  • Also, Chris Walla is a talented motherfucker.

  • @wankmywad I'm not sure what's wrong with you, but this is a very emotional song, the fact that you're reduced to judging a MUSICIAN by his apperance shows how mature and how much of a music fan you actually are. Much like today's youth, you probably don't even know that this is REAL music, and that if you listen to the words, or even read those subtitles, you'd know, this is definitely an emotional song. GO DIE, comeback as a person worthy of Death Cab

  • @eliwamo Thank you! And you are absolutely right, this is REAL music, @wankmywad 'this gibbard guy' is your father, and talk bad about him when you can do even a quarter of what he can. And heck, I think he looks pretty decent too, hes married to a girl 100 times prettier than your ugly ass girlfriend.

  • @eliwamo couldn't agree more. lyrical content doesn't matter to most of these bitches that call themselves music fans. or emotion for that matter. i dunno about you guys, when i go to a show, i go because i love the band, not because i wanna see them jumping around like idiots, i go to see them play their hearts out.

  • @eliwamo You tell him!

  • @eliwamo

In defense of today's youth, I being apart of it, have to say that not all of us are musically challenged.

    I love Death Cab.

Their lyrics and melodies are beautiful and emotional.

  • @mellymeliza I am of the now young generation, and I am making these statements as someone who goes to an art school, and still notices a lack of talent and appreciation for talent by my generation and younger.

  • @eliwamo I get where your coming from i have the same problem with people and while this is great music it is not real more just catchy and enjoyable but this is not the best.

  • @eliwamo Epic comment... today's youth is disgraceful, the "music" of today that they listen to is plain horrible. I am 18 and I listen to good music, I was lucky that my older brother educated me and taught me to listen to real music!!

  • @eliwamo much like today's youth?

    thats harsh

    i'm a youth

    and i love this stuff

i'd say more along the lines of

LIKE TODAYS IGNORANT OF GREAT MUSIC

  • @seagreenmoon I guess I am still in a time of youth, so I know what you mean.

I'm just referring to the large percentage of kids who like tasteless music.

  • @eliwamo well stop.

  • I would Turn gay to marry you...

  • musical masterminds.

  • Thanks. This is so wonderful that I am actually intellectually and emotionally overstimulated. Jay. barnowlpub@comcast.net

  • Thank you for sharing this video.

    So good, I am overstilated...

    'Jay

  • Great talent top to bottom!

  • 1:51 Ivisible hit in hi-hat. WOOOOOOO

  • @wankmywad if you could possibly call this music emotionless, I would have to suggest that you are, in fact, the emotionless one.

  • @wankmywad but he is a genuis.

  • @wankmywad Then why are you here?

  • @wankmywad i dont think this is emotionless at all. and really this isnt bad. you want to hear some of the music the kids are listening to now a days look up blood on the dance floor or brokencyde.

  • @wankmywad although I disagree with u in general...the sound of a good ol turd hitting toilet water surely means a healthy bowel movement and a fine day to come!!!heyeah!!!

  • @wankmywad go suck cocks boi

i bet u listen to shits like justin bieber. haha yea thats real music yea for you ofc. get outta here! go wank your grandma's dick, well only if u had one, and not being a pathetic bitch that got picked up in the trash bin. never come back here. cccya

  • @wankmywad stupidest thing I've ever heard.. Also how many gold/platinum albums did you say you have written?

  • @wankmywad weirdo...

  • wait.. this is live?!

  • uber krass!

  • so so soooo good

  • Stay the fuck outta my shot spiderman

  • Fricken sweet version. One of my favorite songs. Gotta hear this live. peace

  • i wish i owned that room... and them...

  • Damn they sound good live.

  • honestly i hope they never stop making music

  • Ben i think im in serious like with you

  • These guys have such a raw, live, electric energy in their sound, it's incredible. There is no bullshit with them...no overprocessed, effected, synthesized sounds and lip-synched vocals, which is all you hear on the radio these days. This is all real...all Death Cab. I will always love this band.

  • I think it says something when I go to this video to listen to the song rather than go to the actual soundtrack version.

  • i love death cab but does it seem a bit narcissistic and wrong to love something that makes you so sad?

  • Sorry to disappoint but neither Ben Gibbard or Chris Walla play G&L guitars. They are both playing Fenders. Just look at the headstocks, they are different from G&Ls(who have very distinctive headstocks). Nor are they listed as artists who play G&Ls on the guitar makers own website.

  • @adnanteacher It's not of the tools one creates their art with that truly matters, it is the effects and joy it puts into people. I could care less about what they use, I like their music and thats that

  • @Ustroponzy Thanks Sherlock for your philosophical answer...I was responding to someone else's comment so you can, you know, f-off

  • This is just a wonderful little ditty! JK I love this song so much.

  • this video has convinced me - im buying a fender

  • @SerialJoe1 he actually plays a g and l tele

  • @marvelboy04 Ben does indeed. Chris is actually playing a Fender Starcaster into a Fender Tremolux though.

  • @marvelboy04 oh... that shatters my entire universe

  • @SerialJoe1 G&L ASAT guitar. Even better than a fender.

  • @mmmmmmjjjooo10 are they sold in canada? ive never seen them at the local guitar shops in my area

  • @SerialJoe1 I wouldn't know man I don't live in Canada. lol sorry

  • @SerialJoe1 I have seen G&L guitars in Canada, but only at a few shops. I think st johns music was one of them.

  • @klutz27 awesome ill look into that, thanks youtube people for the info!

  • This guitarist somehow reminds me of Bernard Sumner. Though I have no idea why.
