Instead of killing that guy for his house theres a quest you can do that allows you to kill a guy and use his house without commiting a crime plus you get gold! to start it you have to find a dead body outside the town (you passed its location while going towards the falling wizard). It probably doesn't matter anymore but just lettin you know :)
