@ larrybmx: squires can be great i own an OLD jap squire, set up w/ 8s, it SHREDS like NO us strat. it has the old small headstock and sounds like a $1000+ rig. My fav is my American standard (a gift in 98 from mom) untouched but my Fender mexi "same era 1988 w/ mods. take a $100 squire w/ P/u upgrades U sound better than a $1500 usa model. stress setup and pickups. + if yr not big on the whammy bar take a spring out of the back, let the trem set on the body the sound is way better.
mate....gilmour's black strat has also 21 fret, and he invented whole solo on that guitar....so... try to come up with something....like bending little bit higher the string....
It's not just about leaning the EXACT solo,it's about leaning to play guitar. If you dont like this video its probably because you are too good for that kind of lessons!!!I play guitar for 6 years and I'v learned a lot with those vids.Thx a lot to take so much time to teach people to play that beautiful instrument!!!
thank you soooo much!!! im so happy i learned this solo! its a shame i cannot play all of it because i have a electro-acustic guitar that doesnt have 21 frets of the high E string :( i have 2 questions... 1: how do u make that high sound at the 7th fret of the G string after the D chord? theres also something like that in the 2nd time that he plays the 7th fret of the G and B strings together and i dont know how to do it... 2: how can i end the solo? because in the record the sound quiets slowly
I have wanted to play this song for years!. Your video lessons are very helpful! I have been working on it for several nights now and am really enjoying it! Thanks a bunch friend!!!
Oh man this made my day. My favourite song/solo of all time deconstructed. I'm gonna give this months of my time until i crack it! Thank you very much, this is so highly appreciated.
@foortiz619 He plays it wrong in a few places. If you want the correct tab you have to download the album E-book for The Wall, it is tabbed perfectly in there by proffesionals
ironically my fingers are now very uncomfortable and not quite numb after learning to play this but thanks alot for the video it helped me loads, really simplified things and broke them down nicely
Tjamks a lot Justin for this great lesson. I learned a lot and is actually going to perform it soon !!! Appreciate your effort. Look forward to more such videos like this, maybe some DIre Straits songs !
thanks a lot for this lesson, i've been wanting to learn this for about a year now, but i always thought it was to hard for me.. but you made it simple. rock on
Jason, you are definately the best! You have helped me more than the live lessons I took. You have a gift for teaching. If you ever need a "real job" you should go into teaching because you have a lot to offer our young people everywhere.
Justin, one of the reasons I got into learning the guitar was because of this solo. I watched Gilmour play it at PULSE and dreamed myself of one day being able to play it....and now...about 15 minutes ago I played the whole song (not just the solos) all the way through and it's all thanks to your lessons. I can't thank you enough for all your help, you have made a dream of mine come true. Thankyou.
The part at 3:26 is actually not a bend but most likely a slide from 19 to 21 on the high e because gilmour uses 21 fret guitars so he wouldnt have been able to do that bend
thank you soooooooooooo much i love this song, i got it up to solo 2 years ago ill go back an dlearn the rest now. justin should win some type of award for the stuff he does, i dont know a knighthood or something any of you guys know any social awards we could nominate him for??
I think you must be a professional teacher..or should be. Very nice! Thanks to u! Sh*te.. I threw away all my guitarz cause some young players here equated me hopeless...have to re-acquire now;)
In fact, he is a professional teacher! Check out his site justinguitar . com for wonderful, full, free lessons on how to play the guitar. If you can, donate. I love that site. Or you can check out /user/JustinSandercoe
He's been tremendously helpful to my overall music knowledge and guitar playing
Thanks a lot man man! When i first heard this solo i thought it was the most awsome thing ever concieved by man, but i never thought that i would be able to play it one day. You rock!
By the way. Could you do Even Flow by Pearl Jam anytime soon?
This is such an awesome lesson... I never thought I'd be able to pull it off... Thanks a ton and You Rock! as a teacher and a guitarist... Could you please do a lesson on Coming back to life by pink floyd... Thanks! :D
BTW Audacity is free, Transcribe isn't, but it is a great piece of software and I highly recommend you buy it. It won't do the the job for you but it's a great aid for your ears and you can beat map, slow the tempo and cut out voices.
great lesson justin thank you! this is one of my favorite solos of all time, but I thought it would be too hard for me to work out. thanks for the walkthrough, you make it look easy, even though its not!
Hi Justin just found this and love the website but can you tell me more about the transcribe s/w and where you get it thanks Andy..

Why does he say flick off? The correct term is pull-off, and even beginners should know that if he is doing that to make it easier for them

I know I'm not Justin, but he uses Transcribe by 7th String. You can also use Audacity to reduce speed and retain pitch. Hope that helps.
