  • I AM rich, young and beautiful. President Truman told me I was himself, and you can't argue with an authority like that.

  • What's the picture at 8:18 of?

  • my all sisters.and brothers.plz call baba gii.solve any life probliems feesabillaha.child birth.black magic the break.love.busseins problims plz call contict no.+923414850022.

  • plz call

  • look all you need to think about is noah and the ark, someone would have killed one of the mosquitos on there, cuz FUCK MOSQUITOS. i know most people are gonna think that im dumb for saying that, but there is nothing i can say, dumb or smart, thats gonna matter anyway. i dont know guys, arguing one point or another is pointless, people gonna do what they want anyway. just live and let live

  • @ThePatientLeech I'd love to live and let live... the problem is religious people love to spread the gospel and convert... I mean save other people. The point of debating shouldn't be to try and deconvert the overtly religious... the point should be to showcase their fallacies and flawed logic. By doing so, you are effectively nudging to fence sitters closer to your side.

  • The humanist get it wrong everytime.

They all sound like broken records that continue to fume at what they cannot dismiss.

For try as they may the truth of the scriptures stand's on solid ground, while they are teetering on the edge of eternal destruction.

  • this guy really needs to study his religions, because he is really misunderstanding all the religions that he is talking about

  • @Redskin1040- "God never ask 's anyone to kill in his name." -Exactly ! You hit the nail on the head of John the Baptist !!.. and there's the rub- NONE of that insanity that I mentioned is "God's word"-It's all the doings of the so-called priest or ruling class that twisted religion to their ends... The basics are well-intentioned : It's the execution, by pimps and whores, that have poisoned most of the world's religions into mechanisms for selfish, evil ends : " for god & country " !

  • Oh boy. I just had this conversation last week about this same topic. Provide your inbox to me and I will send you what we talked about, if you wish. It's too much to put down here. Best to you.

  • I think that everyone here that disagrees with faith have nothing better to do than criticize and argue.

  • However adamantly atheist I may be, I think that some of these quotes were taken out of context. I think that most of the point are correct, but there are slightly too many generalizations.

  • I can't access your website. Have you taken it down?

  • Not that it means anything to anyone, but I live across the street from the mega church shown at 6:34. Its the Lakewood church in HTown, TX. It used to be The Summit, home of the Houston Rockets.

  • where is the rest of the series ??

  • Good premise for a very long and never-ending discussion about Religion. I can imagine the 21,248 others who viewed this, each having their own views and orientation .... with many differences between any two of them. From your conclusion, I have no doubt that The Pope and his minions will burn in Hell for causing the deaths of millions of innocent people.

  • @curiousgeorge1940 Please, I'm interested to know who those millions of people were

  • @Redskin1040-Start with the Crusades and The Spanish Inquisition.( 5 mil?) Do not pass go- do not collect your $200- Skip to the pogroms of Czar Nicholas & the Russian orthodox Church(8 mil?) that lead directly to the Southern Baptist Church's refusal to denounce The Klan in America & then the Ethnic cleansing of Nazi Germany prior to & during WW II... Add up the Catholics, Gypsies, Jews & other "unacceptable" non-Aryan people... and you're easily over 20 million. That OK for a start ?

  • @curiousgeorge1940 No offense, but I prefer verifiable statistics. Anyone can quote a number. I know that the many who have died in the name of religion have been victims of communism, Nazism (hitler, although born Catholic, said religion had no place in the 1,000 year Reich), fanaticism, political greed and power, Not religion as God never ask 's anyone to kill in his name.

  • @Redskin1040 - Sorry : Most of the records from the slaughter during the crusades , were burned by the agents of the Spanish Inquisition. The records from The Witch Burnings in Salem, Mass are still available, if you can travel there... Russian pogrom records can only be found by the WikiLeaks Soviet Spy Bureau. Go verify the statistics that prove Noah's flood or the Miracle of the Fishes !!!! I won't be holding my breath ....

  • @curiousgeorge1940 I'm not looking to argue here, but how can you be so sure of your statistics for historical events if you have no data to back it up. We're not talking about miracles here. I will be happy to provide you with data if you would like to contact me by personal message.

  • @Redskin1040 - No argument possible ! ... You are looking for non-existent data ; just like everything in any bible you read. There IS NO DATA - THERE IS NO PROOF ( or disproof ) of anything written there... It's all a matter of faith in a 2 to 3 thousand year old oral tradition ! If you believe , then it's enough. If you don't believe , then nothing in those books can change you into a believer.

  • @curiousgeorge1940 Who's talking about two to three thousand year old tradition? You're talking about the crusades, pogroms, Hitler, et al. You are claiming numbers in the millions, but can't back it up. I will provide you with data to the contrary for most of your claims and confirmation for the rest. What is the problem with that?

  • @Redskin1040 - LOL !!!! Please go back to the beginning and see how far off-topic this has gotten...

  • @curiousgeorge1940 Ha Ha Ha! That's what happens when we start to nic-pic. Oh well. Lets just leave it at personal viewpoints. If I could, I'd just say let's get a beer and be done talking.

  • I saw this years ago. I'm more atheistic now. I still think that we all have faith in something. Some just don't have faith in religion. If you think I'm full of crap, let me ask you this. Why are we moral? I am not saying that atheists have no morality, but rather that their foundation for morality is not based on reason. It is only based on assumptions. One assumption is that another person's suffering is bad? Why? Another faith is freewill. There is no evidence of freewill. What am I missing?

  • @br006DL If no one twisted your arm to force you to become an atheist. That means you made your own choice, therefore, you acted on free will.

  • @br006DL All that is adequately covered in "Common Myths Against Atheism and Atheists" on the atheism dot about dot com site. Secularists oppose killing because it weakens the social fabric and the person you hate enough to kill today may yet change and do you a service tomorrow. Simple. Atheists have the most solid moral foundation there is: reality, without reference to powerful invisible spirits cowering in their nebulas like scared little girls who are no help anyway.

  • The bible is worse than the Koran because it's bigger. More room for crap.

  • Well said

  • the Lord is our sheild and our great reward

  • @valu777 Yeah to those with low expectations!

  • were the bible koran wateva, written by god of the universe, wudnt god of given info that was from a mind clearly above the minds of say ancient animal herders?that the insights in these books wud be more enlightening than that of a jealous ,very normal, sky god?

  • Miracles are what make me look Adorable in the mirror at 5 am. God is the bullet that flies past your head when you are walking to work. Holy Texts are when you say, god I need a drink to your friend over cell phone...

  • I tried to stone my neighbor to death but he just got wasted! Total waste of pot!

  • Faith gives good blowjobs! Fuck religion and BuSh!

  • TREMENDOUS

  • Is there more "The price of faith" videos or is this just it? Thank you

  • Up yours, faith.

  • Ask GOD to speak to you, and HE will. GOD knows if you are truly seeking HIM.

Ask and it will be given to you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.

  • @JOYPREACHER

you're completely insane, seek professional help

  • And never ever forget to check your dignity, free will and humanity at the door. Knocking has a steep price.

  • God requires us to belive before he will reveal what evedence he has to us? That seem backasswords.

  • faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. That is the definition given in the Bible. Evidence??? How about the fact that if earth was closer to the sun, we would burn up. If further away we would freeze. If rotating faster we would be crushed by gravity. If rotating slower we would all float around with no gravity. A complex item by law demands a designer. A work of art demands a artist. A love for one another should be the greatest evidence.

  • "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"

I can't fathom what that could mean. Are you saying your hope for something is evidence that it is true, though you've not seen it? How is that any different from wishful thinking?

"the fact that if earth was closer to the sun, we would burn up"

There are a number of contingencies that led to us being here. Is it so surprising that we are in an environment that allows for our existence?

  • "A complex item by law demands a designer"

What law? We know of many processes that produce complex things. Evolution being one of them. Stellar fusion being another.

"A love for one another should be the greatest evidence"

For God? That is a non-sequitur.

  • Oh, so your basically saying "I don't understand science! THEREFORE it MUST be MAGIC!!!" Sometimes I really fear that the movie 'Idiocracy' is a foreshadowing of our future...

  • As always people must be reminded that your belief in something is not proof it exists.

As for the second part we are only here because of the factors you mentioned being as they are. The universe does not bend over backwards to accommodate us. Chew on this, 50 000 years ago human civilization would not have been possible as we know it today. But I concur with dave, seek help fast...

  • You can't think about how small the chance is that things are as it is, the chance is 1:1 since it is like this, or nobody should exist here to know.

How many sperms has your father dripped out? how big chance is it that just the one that was a part of you made it?

And remember that you could also have been borne in a Muslim family, and then you had been typing another history here.

Do you know how many planets there is in the universe?

Some of them must be good for life. We are just lucky.

  • What I don't UNDERSTAND about CHRISTIANS is their NEED to capitalize HALF the WORDS IN THEIR SENTENCES. I mean WHO talks LIKE THAT? Screaming only HALF the TIME. ps EXPLAIN ISRAEL

  • Israel was prophesied to become a nation again, GOD said HE would bring them back from the East, West, North, and South. HE said the nation would be born in one day, and it was by the UN. Watch the vid's about the nation of Israel and how they have been attacked by overwhelming majorities, and yet they not only whipped the Arabs, but took more ground. Every eye is on Jerusalem and Israel as prophesied in the Bible, and yet you can fit 7 Israel's in the state of Oklahoma. Small country, huh?

  • Isreal was reborn because of the prophecy not in fullfillment of it.

  • @JOYPREACHER The UN didn't create Israel, it proposed a division of Palestine, and why Palestine should accept such a proposition has never been explained. Israel was a unilateral declairation, like Rhodesia. If the forces attacking Israel were overwhelming then Israel would be overwhelmed.

I've watched Zionists creating lebensarum for the herrenvolk at the expense of the untermensch, and nopbody has ever shown me how this behavoir differes from Nazism.

  • We Christians do give the capitalizations to give proper reverence to the names of GOD, and also to show emphasis where we believe emphasis is needed. Not to scream, but to show importance. I am not better, or above you, just thankfully was shown the truth. Please, if you are really looking for the truth, ask GOD and HE will show you...if not, I am thankful to have been able to share with the other readers the truth in JESUS. Pure religion is visiting the fatherless and widows, not hate.

  • i was told the same stuff- open your heart to god and he will fill your life with joy. I opened my life to god and you know what happened? i spent countless nights crying that god never gave me this joy. i saw people a church throwing their hands in the air full of the joy of the holy spirit. i NEVER felt that. the more i realized this the more i realized it was all in my head. now tell me, if i gave my life to god, why would he turn me away?

  • actually many of us have done that and more. And it results in a chasing after the wind and a life of unecesary emotional strain. better of without it.

  • you dont understand, what i realized is that "diligently seek him" is telling yourself that he's there. every other religion in the world does it, why can't we?

  • The Harry Potter books are full of proof for those who read.

The story of santa claus is full of proof for those who read

The book of alice in wonderland is full of proof for those who read

WOW, this is too easy, mayb I'll start a religion, after all, you only need a book, and it does not even have to make sense.

  • You mean proof like a child who is born of a virgin and can speak full sentances at only a day old! Or is it the one where stones and trees talk, the stones will tell you of jews hiding behind them, but the tree won't cause it's the jews tree? Or where a man walks to the setting place of the sun to see it settle in the mud. Or maybe its where the stoning of a monkey occured because it had committed illegal sexual intercourse.(Pretty good, now monkeys have to follow the Quran). Now thats PROOF!

  • By the way, just cause you believe in a book, no matter how many do, does not constitute fact or prove anything.

Maybe you should spend more time by asking questions of the Quran or any religious book. If you think that the Quran is a good read that is one thing, but to think that there is any book out there that is written by god, is just not being true to yourself. You are just lying to yourself.

  • That is one of the problems, everytime a question is asked, all that anyone, muslim or christian say is read the Bible/Quran. All this is telling me is that even those that follow them do not want to bother with an answer, or more likely, they do not have the answer.

I have no problem with anyone saying that they are good books, but when they start saying that it is the word of a god, You had better have good evidence then just, because I said so. Great claims require great proof.

  • You said you can make up a religion .... I will wait for your E-mail telling me about your new religion and telling me how many actually believe in it...

    (wishful thinking)...

  • By the way I know the bible pretty well, as I was very religious in my youth. I have studied the Quran to prepare a report on its contents and comparisons to the bible. I do not claim to be a scholar, but I am neither a neophyte at what they both have to say. Actually, thats what started my conversion into an atheist. The more I read the two, the more polarized and distant I became to the fact of there being any god. I believe in the bible and quran, but do not belive that a god was involved.

  • I'll let you know if have the time and the inclination to take on such an endeaver as creating a new religion. Might be kind of fun actually, look at the mormons!

My personal thought is that there are too many religions already. You however will be the first to know! Thanks for the vote of confidence.

  • @EchosFromaBlankMind Starting a religion IS easy, just look at the level orf retardism people still swallow as "true" in mormonsim, the scientology etc.

  • @EchosFromaBlankMind Hubbard did just that.

  • @GoneFantods You're right, you do not need to hit the lottery, just get enough people to believe in your dogma and watch the cash start to flow, in the name of religion of course.

  • You're trying to address a lot of issues in this video, the connections and conclusions drawn in this video don't make complete sense.

There are many valid reasons to object to religion, but to try to blame religion for the spread of AIDS seems a bit farfetched and an irrelevant implication.

  • This is a pretty well done summary of the effects of religion. And Christianity is playing a pretty definitive part in the spread of AIDS. Despite religion, people still have sex. But they do it more unsafely because of religious interference. Why not prevent the deaths of untold thousands, including the innocent children who did not choose to be born with AIDS? Standing in the way of prevention is the way of cruelty and perversity.

  • I see a conclusion, but no premises; enlighten us, please. I also like learning other perspectives.

  • Brilliant video.

  • Fabulous.

I want to rate as a nine out of five.

    More, please..

  • True

  • 5 stars is not high enough! I would rate this video a 10 if I could. Well done, Sir, well done!

  • Interesting video!! You forgot to say "this is my opinion.....".

We don't have access to all evidence that exists in the whole universe, so how can we make any statement of belief without faith?

BTW, what's wrong with crutches? I think they are great medical devices when you have a smashed leg.

    G'day mate.

  • The problem is that the religious will beat each other over the head with their crutches as well as beat those without a crutch.

  • Cal, that is very curious. I've lived on this earth for 60 years and have never seen any religious person beat anybody over the head with a crutch. I must have lived a very sheltered life.

Believe me, if I had a perfectly good crutch, I wouldn't risk it by using it as a weapon.

    G'day mate.

  • Ah, then you haven't seen what's going on here in the US. Here the religious rule and you get religious people trying to force their beliefs on you often to the point where they want religiously inspired laws enforced (i.e. same sex marriage ban, abstinence only education, creation taught as a science, etc.).

Luckily there are enough religious folk that are good decent people, who respect democracy, that it just prevents the religious right from getting everything they want.

  • Yes, luckily there are enough religious folk that are good decent people, who respect democracy. I see they gave it a good go on Prop 8 in California. True democracy works.

  • Hmm, someone has a problem understanding metaphors.

  • ahem.. By my standards a perfectly good crutch should be sturdy enough to be used as a weapon. And if we have the technology to avoid using the crutches, well then we should.

  • I don't need faith when I have evidence.

  • @ReligionIsACrutch right on bro

  • Faith, by definition, is belief despite evidence to the contrary. The world wasn't actually created in six days and it's more than 6,000 years old. Oh well. Based on my faith, science must be wrong. That's faith for you.

Indeed, evidence and reason are all that you need to function in the real world. It's why we look before crossing the street and lock our doors at night. Such actions are reasonable and justified based on observation. Faith is only to act on the desire to believe in something.

  • what is the evidence of your religion? why science is useful if it's false from its very basic? by chance?

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

  • sorry, wrong reply.

  • Navila1: A person that don't act by certain level of logic and evidence can't survive a day. We believe in logic and evidence, and you believe in god, logic and evidence. You always make more assumption than us. The fact is, you can't justify your assumption.

  • @Navila1 You fall prey to using the equivocation to end all equivocations. Namely, you say that everyone "acts on faith".

Faith = belief in something without sufficient evidence to support a reasonable person holding said belief

Faith does not equal acting upon all the best information available to make various decisions in our daily lives.

  • @Navila1 I hear idiots all the time say "Well, you have faith that when you travel by plane that the plane won't crash, so you use faith as well"

Yea, right. Actually, that isn't a faith-based action at all. I don't expect the plane to crash due to faith at all. My expectation to survive a plane ride is based upon knowing that statistically plane travel is safer than driving a car & knowing that pilots must be certified to fly.

  • @Navila1 So why don't you do yourself a favor and actually take the time to better understand the words & concepts that you so poorly misunderstand and misuse.

That way you won't come off as such an ignorant fool.

  • @Navila1 No. I, for one, and many atheists like me do not allow any faith into our lives. You confuse trust with faith. Trust is tested, faith must never be.

  • true

  • religion is a personal concept

  • and a personal stupidity, devolution, arrogance and ignorance.

  • then where the word FAITH come from,i personnelly don't beleive in concepts such FAITH,BELIVE<RELIGION,do u know why?coz its just human made..GOD judges you by your actions not faith or belive, your name could be MOSES or MOHAMMED or MATHEW but your actions are worst than any criminal on earth.GOD is JUST but human way of thinking is fucktop.

  • Brilliant!

  • Today all religions are puppets on the strings of the real modern god... the economy.

    This is a truism...

  • very shallow and very biased....Atheist have been sleeping through the 20th century...there have been more killing in the 20th century than in all the crusades and war of religions put toghther...

  • And almost all of it religiously motivated. Your point?

  • that's just the pretext. Unless nazism and communism is counted as religious as well.

  • Hitler was only not religious in the sense that he had severed ties with the major churches. He invoked God in his speeches all the time and compared himself to Jesus on at least one occasion. Certainly he could not have done what he did without the "pretext" of 1,000 years of church-fueled anti-semitism in Europe. Stalin and Mao's brand of communism was overtly atheist, but still faith-based in that they attempted to set up the Party as a body that had to be worshiped without question.

  • Intresting, but is atheism/secularism has the potential to become faithbased too, then it would be quite gualable to think that we are safe and secure from what we call "religion".

  • We should try to avoid any kind of faith-based belief formation, whether it refers to God, a political party, a scientific theory, an economic principle, a moral code or anything. We must always accept the possibility that we are wrong and hold only those beliefs that we can support with evidence and reason.

Using this principle, atheism is always the correct stance because a belief in God cannot be supported with anything other than faith, as numerous theologians will attest.

  • It is unreligiously motivated. Because religion is a crutch

  • This video is an eye opener to all those blind believers. More killings in the 20th century than in the crusades? That's because the population of the earth has increased tremedously since the crusades

  • This video is the absolute truth. There are many deaths today because of the abuse of modern weapons and the increase of the world population and violent religions.

  • What was all this providence Hitler talked about then? And isn't it funny how in the Crusades they had swords and not railroads, gas chambers, and machine guns...? And Stalin and Hitler was raised Catholic, so should we stop teaching kids Catholicism for fear they'll be possessed by Satan later on? I also have a rock that keeps tigers from attacking Springfield.

  • I don't care what you call it, as I said in an earlier comment, everything can potentially become religion. So think that one is safe from it by calling it atheism is pure superstition.

  • Anything? Can I make a religion out of eating ice cream?

  • I guess so, If it becomes the whole meaning of living :-)

    LOL

  • lol

  • @ReligionIsACrutch hehe...technically yes...

  • @seamr05 Atheism is no more a religion than bald is a hair colour.

  • @jymbo1969 I know...atheism only defines what you dont beleive in...

  • yea where are the second and third ..ect part to it ..make more plz

  • awesome im freakin atheist WOOHOO ever since i was 13 i was atheist

  • That was an awesome video but there really should be a better warning for the graphic images used.

  • If this is the intro.. where's the rest?

  • Very good.

  • Great Vid. 5/5

  • A++++++++++++++++++++++

  • One thing I didn't get. The part around 2:10, stating that if one concept is false, then logically all are false. How can that logic coexist with science, the very love child of logic?

That's how science FUNCTIONS in medium and long terms. A looked great, but now B looks better, though gotta watch C, it's starting to make sense. Applying the above logic to science, the first time any law is trumped, the entire field would have to be trashed.

Planet not flat? Ah well. So much for making maps.

  • No, the video said "if one of these religions is TRUE then the others must be false."

That's completely different than what you are claiming was said "that if one concept is false, then logically all are false".

  • Quotation time =

    What your talking about -

"That is to say, if one of these religions is True then the others must be false."

What -I'm- talking about...simply one sentence away -

"The obvious solution to any honest and rational person is that they are -all- false."

A huge bonus of atheists always seemed to be their technical honesty. That sentence was literally the next one after what you quoted. I'm not sitting here waving an invisible man flag. Just making a point.

  • Even if you were talking about a different sentence, I still didn't say "that if one concept is false, then logically all are false" so that's still a misrepresentation of my statement.

If you want to know, the point I was making is that you have two options. Either one religion is true and the rest are false, OR they are all false. I think it's more likely that they are all false but I'm not saying it's a necessary conclusion. Just an obvious solution to picking the "one true religion".

  • by the vollowing videos, you mean this will be a series? will the vollowing episodes names begin with "the price of faith", and is it going to be numberised?? id like to see em

  • The less science more the belief. More science less the belief....we evolve.

  • If there is a god it left allot to figure out for ourselves, and the ones that lived without the advancements of medicine and science never had the knowledge of.

  • Awesome video, nicely done

  • Jesus can still save you!

  • We don't need saving from anything.

  • We need to be saved from Jesus. Jesus kills.

  • Actually, the only thing we need to be saved from are people like you.(smokez0rz)

  • Logic could one day save you life, mister.

  • Well said and well done! The love of religion is the root of all evil. One need only examine the fevered rhetoric currently surrounding the HPV vaccine to see how evil religion is. Xians would rather a woman DIE than get vaccinated to prevent her needless death. Why? Because they actually believe the vaccine will promote promiscuity! Amazing!!! Does the Cholera vaccine make you want to drink sewage? Does the Tetanus vaccine make you walk on rusty nails?? Are religionists REALLY that stupid?!?!?

  • oh yes,quite.

  • If you can disprove his facts then you may claim his facts are false. But you absolutely haven't tmcowboy.

  • bravo, excellent.

  • Science has proven a beginning to everything took place in the distant passed this cannot happen unless there was a beginner.

  • You fail at science. The Big Bang does not have anything to do with the creation of energy. It only tells us that at one time, all the matter and energy in the Universe was in a small volume. There is no creator needed. It would help if you actually knew what you were talking about.

  • If you can believe everything in the universe came from nothing,go ahead but please don't call that science,at best only wishful thinking,at worst a complete delusion.

  • Where did God come from? Why doesn't God need a creator but the universe does? Isn't the universe easier to explain than God? At least we know the universe exists. I think it's more likely that the universe doesn't need a creator.

  • It really makes no different how you THINK,that's why He's called God,that means He need's no creator. You can't have a universe without a Creator, the universe had a beginning, energy cannot be created or destroyed, therefore all energy had to come from somewhere out side our universe that didn't exist 1 second before God spoke it into being. The creation cannot be greater than it's creator meaning God is more powerful than the Universe. There's no other way possible for us to be here.

  • You just said energy can't be created or destroyed, therefore it doesn't need God to create it.

  • Good job, ya'll.

  • great vid, i lost faith in this fking murderous sky critter a long time ago. Not only is Religion doing harm but also slowing down scietific progression.

  • When is the next video going to be I want to watch this series very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Koyaanisqatsi

  • If people actually looked at the lexicon used in the ancient holy books of the world, they would quickly realize that it is NOT truth.

Atheists can respond with science, religion only answers with scripture....anyone else see a problem with that? I do, it's called brainwashing.

  • word.

  • Nice video, I like it because it's short and to the point and clearly states why religions a load of shit. Thanks for the video.

  • "Atheists should not be considered citizens" - George H.W. Bush

    What a fucking cunt

  • look do you really think bush is a believer

in religion mr. or mrs. pnoozi no the man murders people everyday well not him literally but sends people to get murdered everyday he worked on sundays which by the way ,the bible saids everyone who works on sunday should be killed...do you work on sundays

the bible is fucking bullshit and for someone who says this country is free

obviously it isnt so fuck bush fuck the world we all just need to be bombed by a comet soon

  • i apologize if you were not defending bush pnoozi its seems like that the way you wrote so sorry go atheist

  • Thank you for your organized and eloquent video. Of course, you are preaching to the choir, so to speak. Keep up the good work!!!!

  • Yea, Christians aren't going to venture out of their bubble to see this video on their own.

Additionally, the only Christians who do watch this video are so hardcore and firmly planted in their "beliefs" that they have only come here to debate.

The "on the fence" Christians, the ones who still have hope, are the ones that need to see this video but probably never will.

    It's unfortunate.

  • Christianity is set up so that no evidence can ever prove it wrong, or at least if you are 'in that deep'.

  • Star being know that spirituality and science work hand and hand. Humans separate the two. ~Ricky

  • Thanks for the vid.

I think the "go forth and multiply" commandment (and it's other religious equivalents) is more dangerous than any commandments about abstinence. Population growth is a huge and threatening problem - even climate change discussions don't seem to cover it much - and to treat childbirth as divorced from any limits of space and resources is, to me, largely religiously driven.

The detachment from basic practical issues is what scares me about religion.

  • I think what's being said in this video is itself dogmatic. It takes logic for granted, as if a person could orient themselves against an inherant worldview. The idea of 'postmodern' is that there isn't any claim to the rational anymore, there isn't any way to orient ourselves in the universe. The irrational is all there is. I don't completley believe this, I actually think ARE points of view but also objectively BETTER points of view. But there is no REASON to believe inthat.Itsphilospcly irra.

  • I'm a postmodernist so let me start by saying you're wrong about postmodernism doing away with rationality. It only does away with objective grounds to rationality. Which is what religion is still trying to cling to. It's still possible to have a coherent rationality which isn't grounded in any objective sense.

  • Religion, Science, Art, all the meta-narratives that we've used to explain our universe are now suspect. The limits have been exposed for each and every one. That's the so-called postmodern condition we find ourselves in. No doubt, 'It's still possible to have a coherent rationality' but it's all within yourself. Your coherence isn't another's. To consider an outside objective rationality that we can even know about isn't postmodern at all.

  • The distinction to be made is between what is "true" and what is "actual". Unless we would like to collapse into solipsism then we must proceed with an assumption that objective reality is actual. Science is based on this assumption and postmodernism has exposed that. The reason why most people don't care is because we have technology that science has given us. An electric blanket and a microwave meal is a lot more comforting to the average person than science being a "social phenomenon".

  • Also, not to miss an obvious point here, if science didn't have some sort of basis in objective reality, we wouldn't be having this pleasant conversation. Though that may be begging the question. ;)
