  • Some of these comments are hillarious. then again it takes all kind of people to make the world go round, even the simpletons...

  • paganism is like calling an african negro

  • I think the people of India might rightfully take offense at your pretense to attempt to lump them in with the modern Pagan movement. They predate the Abrahamic faiths according to Archeological FACT and I think they have a right to define themselves as do other people around the world such as the First Nation People, The South American Tribes, Australian Aborigines.... attempting to define a faith as Pagan simply because it is not Abrahamic is an offensive viewpoint to many.

  • if you follow the Gardner aspect you'll always fall short and the "dithiestic fertility cult" definition is a little silly since thats far far from the roots of what wicca has or is. the facts are paganism is defined from its latin word root paganni or "people of the fields" simply put the first definition you put on your video is very accurate "a belief system which is not of Jewish, Islamic, or Christian . in the bible references are made pagans as being those who are "heathen" funny vid:)

  • I am a Christian, but it was one of the most concise and well-constructed definitions I could find. Good work.

  • Wicca and paganism are no more religion that scientology.

  • @wartmcbeighn Religion - a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects. Yeah, I would have to say that Wicca, Pagans in general (such as solitaries), and Scientology fits that definition. You may not believe that they do, but that is irrelevant.

  • Christianity is the only morden religion that is pagan and worshiped by 2 billion people, satan has made good ancient pagan religion and put it all in this satanic Christianity bullshit, coz they worship idols and read the false bible (new testament) old testament is real, islam is peaceful same as Judaism. most evil and controling religion is Christianity.

  • Pagan actually comes form the Latin word "paganus" meaning "country dweller." The educated Romans used it like some use hick or redneck. It was NOT first used by Christians, rather by the Pagan Romans to denote an uneducated person who lived outside of their cities. Later the Christians twisted it in their propaganda to mean an unbeliever. Modern Pagans have reclaimed it. It is an umbrella term, and some (like myself) use it only because none of the other subsets apply. Check mosmaiorum. org

  • I'm confused.. You claimed that Pagan is an umbrella term, not a religion..okay, true...but.. people claim to be Christian...and that is an umbrella term as well...If someone can be just Christian then I could be just Pagan..or.. maybe if you don't feel the need to follow an exact belief in a religion, or feel you have to believe certain parts...you could use an umbrella term...Just saying..that was confusing. :|

  • an easyer def. of paganism: religions who are based on more then one god....simple........i believe in Jesus,Mohamed,Noah And

Mozes......but what does that make me then?

  • naive.

  • so i'm naive if i believe in Muhammed,Jesus,Noaha and Mozes?

i rather be ''naive'' then soulles in the afterlife.....when will people finnaly opentheir eyes and see that this life is just a test...........the devil's delusive way to take away people's faith in god seems to be working....but dont worry....he'snot the only one with a plan........he he......

  • the devil did not take away faith in god, education did! Tell me.. what about the tribesmen deep in the south american rainforests, they have no knowledge in the bible or god, does this mean that god will punish them in the afterlife? or are they exempt from persecution?

What about my little brother who has never seen a bible or been to church? he is 15, if he were to be hit by a bus tomorow would he be accepted by god even though he is ignorant of his "reality"? hmmm

  • you got it aaaaaallll wrong! EVERY tribe in the whole world got a belief! SOME tribes dont have it no more because the spanish invaders burned most of their history and knowledge....believing in god is not about christianity, jewish or muslim its about your way of life and the way you treat other people! THATS the test! look at todays world....consumed with ''having a buffed boddy'' or a ''plastic surgeon done face'' or ''being like your idol''.....this is your world right now!

  • so what you are saying is that unless i believe in a god that is not proven, unless i believe in something just because somebody else has told me to believe... that my life is wrong? and that iv failed gods tests?

hahaha you are one ignorant and uneducated son of a bitch. I really do pitty you.

  • No.....if you dont believe in God because you have bin decieved doesn't mean that God will fail your test......If you believe in materialism, not treating others with respect and love, mistreating your body with radiated sprayed manufactured food and massproductive meats, racism, killing, robbing, stealing and bapometh(satan) THEN he will judge your ways! look if you are just living your life without mistreating others and without racism or violence...your doing ok nothing wrong with that..understand?

  • and i noticed you was calling me ''son of a bitch'' and that you are ''pitying me''....

i'm not even going to respond to that because who am i to judge you?i'm not the one who's going to judge you.....But hey...do as you will, go on and consume all the materialism you have but never forget! that when you enter the afterlife, materialism isn't going to save your ass!

i'm out, may God bless you!

  • BUT you are ALREADY judging me. I am the LEAST materialistic person i have ever met in my entire life!

I am 22 years old, have moved around from place to place since i was 18, All of my possesions add up to 1 guitar and 1 bag of clothes. How the FUCK does that make me materialistic? I have no desire for money or cars. I do not wish to own my own home or have a car because it isnt NATURAL to "own" a piece of land that wasnt mine to begin with!! But im going to be judged?? then fuck god!!

  • nd you expect me to believe you....you forgot to say you own a computer/laptop (Lol) ! but like i said before.....if you live your life without mistreating people etc its okay thats all!

  • I do not own a laptop, i also use the sofa im sitting on, doesnt mean i own it.

Next time dont judge somebody and tell them they are living their life wrong before you know anything about them,

  • Pirate, you rock.

    *is CuAnnan*

  • Great video, thanks for posting. This mostly confirmed what I knew, but had some really useful info for me too. Plus, the music was pretty dang cool. Makes me feel ashamed for having previously been a Christian though. I've really had my eyes opened since then.

  • Not all pagan faithes are nature based. The Aztec religion was heavily urban based and nature gods were more often terrifying than comforting. The Earth Goddess Coatlicue was a devouring goddess that didn't even look human. I don't mean any disrespect to any religion or to any gods, but generalizations about Paganism just hurt the community in the long run. Better just to let each pagan religion handle themselves.

  • the definition of pagan by the catholic bible:

Pagan: the word is used in various sense. In widest sense it refers to all non-christians; in a narrower sense it can also indicate those who are neither christian, jew, or mohammedam. It is sometimes used, too, of those who though exposed to christianity ignore its teachings and derive their belief and morality form sheerly natural sources.

  • I define paganism as those who worship the divine through nature. Which all indigenous cultures did, in one way or another. Holding the earth as sacred and every aspect a part of the divine or higher spirit that is in all. Following the seasons and natural cycles, watching the stars influence upon us. It is an umbrella term, which all religions began with their roots in. The art of worship.

  • We are not a cult

    We don't all follow gardener

    Or Alexander

A cult is a group that blindly follows one person

In Wicca there are many paths

Many of them don't follow anyone but yourself

  • Actually

Wicca is a form of neopaganism

Wicca is a polytheistic nature religion

  • How do you define neo-paganism then? Is it any pagan religion that has been created recently, such as Wicca?

  • Yes

  • At one time, anything that wasn`t Christian was considered "Pagan"

Personally, I wish we would stop tossing that word around so much. I`m an Atheist, but I learned that "pagan" was a term created as a vague category, to lump all the other religions together as if they were all the same, which I think is disrespectful.

  • kinda like racism when used too much in the context, it definitely could get annoying

  • pagan as the jews Does with GOD or pagans as the deititys Of other cultures and religions ??

  • hail the Celt Pagans

  • I think the deffinition of Pagan varies just like you said..but for the most part I think it's just an all over knowing the power of the Earth and what it's given to us and also being intouch with magic the Earth has and our powers to do good and evil through this. :) tell me what you think.

  • The "power of the Earth" is irrelevant, really. Paganism isn't earth worship nor reverence. At its most basic, paganism is simply an umbrella term for any religion that isn't Christianity, Judaism, or Islam (and sometimes Hinduism and Buddhism). Satanism is pagan. Wicca is pagan. Asatru is pagan. Shintoism is pagan. Scientology is pagan. Taoism (as a religion) is pagan. Sikhism is pagan. The list goes on. I consider myself a pagan, though I am an atheist and don't believe in good nor evil.

  • yeah I realised after I posted that Earth doesnt aply to all Pagan beliefs though I'd say it's in most of them, bring earth into their relgions or at least from what I've seen and the beliefs that I have are very much earth related. I also am Atheist Eclectic - Pagan so I understand what your saying. I believe every animal/human is good and evil...so thats a little different.

  • Hm, well, I'm not even sure most are. When you take into consideration that Paganism is all but three (or sometimes five) specific religions, that leaves a whole lot of other "pagan" religions.

Personally, I don't believe in the existence of good and evil. I believe they exist as subjective and imperfect concepts that are often arbitrarily tossed around and that do more harm than good when taken too seriously.

  • I'm not really sure on what religions are Pagan like I dont know about Hinduims I think Paganism (now) is deffined differently then every other religion besides those 3 or 5. The Abrahamic thing make sence but I'm not sure thats all that deffines whats not Pagan. But yeah I understand what you mean.

  • and like you said, being atheist simply doesn't mean you're just pagan, but of "atheist" religions?

  • I agree, but about the whole "Earth" thingy... would that make'em hippies?

  • Huh

    Hippies?

    There's two types of hippies

Those that take action and those who show peace

It has nothing to do with paganism

Just like the Romani (gypsies) aren't like hippies

  • ohhhhhh~, ok, gotchya

  • what the hell? Paganism is NOT every other religion except Christianity. Judaism is not pagan, it`s monotheism, Hinduism os not paganism, the list goes on! Paganism is having a spiritual connection to nature and not every pagan religion personified nature with gods and godesses either, some just had a great respect for nature and sought peacful moments in the wild to get in touch with nature and be able to feel and understand it.

Labeling everything as pagan is just Christian stupidity!

  • she said that Paganism is everything besides the Islamism, Christianity and Judaism. What are you talking about? And Hinduism is a Pagan religion it fits the basic Pagan beliefs along with buddism.

  • Basically, I made that comment when I was bored and tired. Also, I had previously been discussing religion with a bunch of fundamentalist Christians who just wanted to call me a heathen and not defend their arguments. So yeah, I was really annoyed before I came here and totally took this video the wrong way. Thats why my comment was all retarded.

  • Watch the video again. This time, read and comprehend it. You'll find that I didn't claim Paganism is every religion aside from Christianity. I claimed that it is every religion save for Abrahamic faiths like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Hinduism is pagan, depending on the definition. Some definitions of Paganism label all religions aside from the Big 5 (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hindu, Buddhism) as Pagan. Nature worship is irrelevant. Paganism is NOT nature worship. Watch again.

  • Oh man, sorry about that. I read the video the first time through, but I wasn`t thinking clearly. Actually, I have a problem with definitions in general. I`m not Buddhist, but I`ve read a lot about Buddhism and I don`t think of it as a religion. I`ve been told, by Buddhists, that it is more like a way of life. I`m going to go with what the Buddhists say, not anything else. This is because I think only a person who becomes truly submerged in a religion/lifestyle can truly understand it.

  • lol only if you're not exactly into god and death metal

  • to zombrad- i usually do't right things, but what u said is the stupidist thing i've ever read in my life"not including the bible" of course. science is as blind faith as religion, what fucking planet are u on. science uses facts and well educated hypothesis while religoin is flat out made up.the bible said the earth was 10,000 years old when it was written, the earth is 4.5 billion years old, gee i wonder who im gonna put my faith in. idiot

  • Wicca does fall under paganism sorry. I myself as a pagan know this and have known many wiccans. There are many different types of paganism, depending upon origin. Most of the things you find on the internet about paganism are false. I suggest contacting a pagan you know or reading up on paganism in the metaphysics or religion section of a book store.

  • I suggest reading the video once more over. I never said that Wicca was not pagan. I did, however, say that defining paganism as a polytheistic nature religion alone did not include Wicca, as it is a ditheistic fertility cult.

Paganism by it's *correct* definition does include Wicca...

By it's *incorrect* definition, it does not... unless you're also under the impression that Wicca is a nature religion instead of a fertility cult.

  • Both science and religion are man made ways to guess what happened in the past. Facts or no facts, artifacts or no artifacts. None of us were around back then, so we either put faith in religion or science to tell us how we became to exist.

    Professors = Preachers

    Universities = Churches

Books on the matter = scripture

The writers of said books = priests and disciples.

Scientists can be as dogmatic as the catholic church.

Most atheists I know put faith in science.

    Religion is faith.

  • I trust the scientific method to be fair, but I have faith in people.

  • rightly said.. even people who consider hinduism as a religion should know that its an Umbrella of philosophies...

  • Wonderfully put, as expected.

The song is incredibly soothing and relaxing, I must say. Good show, Pirate.

  • well said

  • good vid ty
