  • this song always makes me mourn, Freddie will always be alive as you remember!

  • This is a Goffin/King song that Dusty Springfield recorded first, but I think of it as a Byrds song.

  • Oh how we wish we could go back and have Freddie again.

  • OMG He's the best!

  • Part of this is included in the end of Mother Love (1995)

  • young master

  • Why he called himself larry lurex????

  • @tonato17 Larry lurex was a project of trident studios where queen were recording their first album. The studio was trying to create a wall of sound and they asked freddie to sing these covers and he asked them to bring brian and roger with him so they recorded these two songs!

  • @thanosbathanos Beat me at a game of Larry Lurex/Freddie Mercury/Farroukh Bulsama...

  • Guys, the turntable speed this was recorded from was too fast. Thats why the record sounds higher in pitch.

  • I don't love this pie.

  • sa voix vous traverse le coeur :) magnifiqueeeeeeeeeeeee <3

  • God I love this song. Freddie's voice is so haunting, so beautiful. He could have sung the ABC's and I would have been mesmerized by that. ANYTHING and EVERYTHING he sings has a way of reaching out and touching a person's heart and soul. I lack the words to adequately express the love and admiration I have for this man, this legend, this one of a kind entertainer. He WAS magic.

  • @donegaveup I agree with you 1000%, may he rest in peace.

  • beautiful song

  • i've got the single and his voice sounds exactly as it is here.

  • sooo beautiful!!

but just wondering... wasn't larry lurex freddie's stage name??

anyway, im so glad he changed his name to "freddie mercury" its much more godly and powerful that way :)

  • Larry Lurex is just the name of the artist of the single, Larry Lurex wasn't his stage name.

  • so pretty

  • thanks for letting me know freddy mercuries other name

  • Hi someone know to play this song with paino??

  • It's very easy. Only 5 chords.

  • But don't you think that the beauty of the song is in that simplicity? :)

  • Yes, i agree with you but i think maintaince of this song's magic, are lyrics and the the sould of the song. The arrangement is simple of cause, but you know, i can FEEL that song!

  • Me too, it's beautiful! Also like Dusty Springfield's version.

  • Yes, i heard Dusty's also :) There's also Byrds version of it.

  • Comment removed

  • Kinda, I can play the chords in a similar way it's not that hard.

  • this is in 1973 b4 freddies throat operation. his voice sounds more feminine on here.

    GREAT SONG !!!!

  • Freddie never had a throat operation!!! I think you might have either gotten some not-so-good information or you've been drinking lol. Who knows I might be wrong ;)

  • @classicrockrockz you are wrong mate, he had ;-)

  • @classicrockrockz or may i be wrong? :/

hose not to to get corrective oral surgery to fix his famous overbite (caused by the presence of four extra teeth which pushed his incisors out). He commented early in his career that he wished to have work done on his teeth, but regretted that he didn't have time to do it out of fear that it would damage his voice. Also, chose not to have surgery to remove polyps on his vocal cords for the same reason. Ironically, Freddie was a smoker.

  • Freddie had vocal nodule folds that never were operated

  • Julie Andrews had an issue with vocal nodules, had the surgery, and lost her amazing singing voice. Freddy wisely NEVER had the surgery.

  • It's not the real tone of the original recording... I don't know why all the videos use a tone higher than the original...

  • are you sure about that? probably in 'made in heaven' was transposed to a lower tone than this original....i don't know

  • @tonato17

I don't know... I think Freddie's voice is not that high. And there are videos in YouTube entitled "Goin' Back[real voice]" that sound more like him and lower tone.

It's not part of the Made in Heaven album, but a single from 1970.

  • @tonato17 forse per il fatto che magari nel 69 era giovane e nel 87 aveva 41 anni!!!! e magari dopo anni di sigarette e sigari

  • @delilah82q I think thats what you are saying... you are right....he was a kid then and his voice sounds like this here....thats the difference! Good point

  • wow i love it. thanks freddie and my friend who told me about it XD

    btw its a beautiful song

    Queen and Larry Lurex Rock!!!!

  • Thanks Freddie...

  • for my budgie...and all you darling's ..jim

  • Byrds rubbish

    Freddie good

    Dusty fabulous, the best

  • Are you nuts!? Both The Byrds and Queen are good bands

  • What a beautiful version of this song, he was amazing and so very missed.

  • THIS IS A FREEDIE MERCURY!!!!...

  • they kinda mixed it to make it sound old fashioned and everything, this should of been a huge cover version hit, like led zeppelins dazed and confused!I also think i can hear music should of been a hit!

  • this song makes me cry, it makes me remember when I was a little boy, also makes me remember an aunt who pass away Recently :(

  • Although Queen sang varied Cover Versions in concert I can say for sure "Going Back" was not one of them. The only time you hear Queen actually acknowledge it is in "Mother Love" from the Made In Heaven album

  • but in mother love freddie sang this song at that recent time im guessing or 80's the earliest, this is very early 70's version, u can tell by the unique voice. queen best ez.

  • carole king wrote this one,and freddie is just

    greaaat !!!!!!!!!!! queen=genius

  • Carole King and Gerry Goffin wrote Goin' Back.

  • Freddie's voice in this song is very different from that of the 80's period, it looks like a female voice; why did his voice change so much, is it only due to smoking !!??

  • No...just growing up and maturity. Listen to Elvis's 1956 records and compare the voice to his 1970's stuff. Same with Sinatra 1940s/1960's.

Freddie was little more than a kid when he sung this. (testing out a studio as a favour just before 'Queen' was recorded in 1973.

  • Freddie was 27 years old when he recoreded this song. He was not a kid at all.

  • this song was speed up. oryginal is on "Queen in Nuce" album.

  • Nope, "Nuce" had horrible sound quality. This is the real deal.

  • that is not correct at all. Nuce is a bootleg, they simply taped the original version which is on that 7" released on 1973.

  • the most fucking underrated song ever.

  • so true

  • You're true

  • Oh my God its such a beautiful song... Freddie u was, are and will be the best songwriter and singer ever

  • when i listen this first time, all my body just paralize and cry!!

  • Queen put this melody to the end of mother love I think... from the made in heaven album

  • Yeah they did

  • i heard it for the first time 2 week,s ago i think it,s abeautiful song i would have like,d to have seen avideo of him singing it..

  • I think there is a video here in youtube where he's singing this one a concert, I think in the 70's or begin 80's.

  • Unfortunately there isn't :(

  • I saw it once by coincidence, I think it was in France, it is propably hard to find, becaue there were no tags that relate to the song

  • funck aids

  • that's freddie i can guarantee it

  • This sounds like it was not sung by Freddie now that I listen to it. The voice sounds definitely female.

  • it is freddia. it's actually on the best of freddie mercury cd released last year.

  • It's Freddie in his younger days, he had a more femal voice. His voice changed cause of the smoking.

  • Was this the B-Side to I Can Hear Music ?

  • Wow I've looking for this song since 1995! wow! Freddie ur still d best!

  • Amazing song, Freddie had a really great voice.

  • Master of Songs!

  • Great song, Great Singer, Great Music, Great Photo's

  • you can hear a part of this song in one of the Queen songs... i thought at the end of its a beautiful day reprise? but its a good song, best singer ever.

  • Nope..is Mother Love ;)

  • Extraordinary song in one extraordinary voice. The best version of Going Back ever!!

  • Simply beautiful!

  • I cry everytime I hear this song.. so catch me if you can... I´m going back :( I miss you Freddie!!!

  • one of the greatest singers in the world and the song is so great
