  • I like the air solenoid setup that Hossmachine used in his. Very quick both on release and capture, with very little air use. Can you take a moment to explain why you went with your setup instead of something like his? I'm a long way off from needing this, but weighing my options in the meantime. :)

    I did this method for a couple of reasons, first, just to see if it would work. Second, for the reasons that vlmarshall points out in his comment, noise and the wrench and hammer stuff. This thing has done many, many tool changes since I first posted the video and is still working great but I agree with you on Hoss's setup, I like that too.

    I'm now finishing a silent air compressor made with a refrigerator compressor and will switch to an air cylinder for speed.

  • Very nice! A great alternative to listening to a direct-drive air compressor and impact wrench... and faster than using a wrench, hammer, and spindle lock. Thanks for sharing it.
