yeah i just went to radio shack and got thier base load antenna, thats what was "recomended" for mine, but it works great. if i plan on doing anything with it ill be talking to you again soon hha

35-40 watts with MOSFETS?? Put'n the double echo knob n place of the SWR Cal??? WOW...thats the 1st time I've heard that! So whats he goin to do when he buys a new antenna? I guess he's goin to a shop for tuning becuz u and ur genius took out the only control he could use to self tune with!!!! Ur a "tech" LOL! Another "snip&clip"! Why not put it n place of the DeltaTune? U took out a great feature and left him with a useless 1! (DeltaTune) I would SO SUPER PISSED if you handed that back 2 me!!!
@chadrobison12334 hate too make you look like a ass but this radio does not have a delta tune, was a customers radio that he had sent too me and asked me too do it that way he did not loose any other features or drill holes in his brand new radio, I ALWAYS ASK THE CUSTOMER WHERE THEY WOULD LIKE SOMETHING ADDED INSTEAD OF ADDING A TOY IN USE OF A VALUABLE FEATURE...........AND JUST TOO INFORM YOU THE SWR IN THE RADIO IS ABOUT USE LESS AS THE FACTORY INSTALLING IT...
@chadrobison12334 Ive seen 40+watts out of a 1969final...these mosfet kits are good but keep a close eye on the swrs,anything over 2 and POP goes the weasel. Those Swr meters that come w/the radios are half worthless anyway,they give u a basic idea,but I would invest in a good meter.Astatic,dosy ect...Yeah Id rather be missing my useless delta than rf gain or swr cal...that is true;-)
@paraglidermx swr meter is an integral part of the radio, to be honest if i bought a rig and the swr meter was very inaccurate i would take it back and buy a decent rig.
im not looking for complete accuracy as this cannot be achived in the real world.
An external swr meter is going to give a different reading than the internal one anyway, the external one uses another piece of coax- more cable, more resistance etc.
So readings will never be the same although the external ones are more accurate
@chadrobison12334 Some techs can get away with removing the mod limiter...it just depends how they tune the rest of the radio...I have two radios with them removed and they are crystal clear with mic gain about 3 oclock.
Dime out the mic gain and its in ur face anoying modulation with a slight crunch and punch breakup.

@Dubboyy If your meter light went out I can sell you a new led and you take out old one and install the new one and poof it will work again:)

i have this same radio bone stock,whats a good antenna i can get? im assuming they run off of a 300 watt antenna but does that really matter? thanks

@sixtyninekenny you can really use any antenna if your radio is bone stock one antenna i always recommend is wilson love the quality and durable
