this is an amazing machine the sad part is a lot of the best parts of the lecture have been cut out of this video... so its hard to understand what the machine actually does. I visited the museum last weekend saw this in person. this video is a poor example of the demonstration given at the museum. I would encourage any one who has interest to see it in person

Babbage created the class definition for the differential engine. But he created an abstract class, which could not be instantiated until someone overrode his class with a superclass containing methods for creating precise mechanical parts. The class also had to be instantiated on a platform that could execute the constructor method without throwing an InsufficentFunding Exception.

He couldn't build it then because of the lack of proper materials. Now it can be built with Legos and K-nex.

An excellent video, but it would have been nice if a member of the audience had given him a simple mathematical problem, for example, the internal area of a cone or perhaps the number of citizens divided by the national debt. It may take a long time to set up the wheels which could explain why the docent did not do this.

This is superb machine.. First the interesting thing in this machine that the Charles taking idea of Analytic computer. This think of Sir Charles Babbage was create in the mind. I only can say this think is given from God. I really very Impress when i read about the Charles Babbage. Charles Babbage i pray for you that you live every where of the world you only happy. I mean, it is nice to think that you can scapegoat your own failures in life on another culture, but at some point you need to look at your own life and realize you are responsible for your own failures.
