Hi, this is Bob from Patagonia-Chile, what´s your opinion on the battery lasting on this particular HT ?, is there any thing you´d change or dislike on this model ? I wanna get one of those too. regards.... Bob
Battery sucks for real world use. (as a scanner battery its great)
but its good for the size. (grab a big one or wire up a AA adapter to a Larger Battery pack( dont use the DC jack on the side to power it (it just allows to break later)
ya few things id change. but nothing comes to mind at moment..
Where did you purchase yours? I'm in CA and even though hamcity has the lowest price for people out of state, I pay 10% sales tax...So is universal-radio the cheapest for me?
Vk, Thanks (grab it when you can, but test underwater, antennas are a must multli, m-specific,(both omni) and a yagi m-specific, and a Rat tail (DIY) )
1. Yes im going to do a Review based on actual use of it.
That should be coming soon. Ill post a link on the description.
(mine is going back today for replacement)
USB least effecient use of juice. so no option on that better to use lipo pack or 8aa=12v adapter from RS. laptop is harder to get juic to charge than other gear

Question now that you have had it a few weeks any complaints and how does it charge?
It doesn't seem to say on the Yaesu website and I was hoping for a USB port on the radio or a charge cable at capable of receiving a charge from a USB :)
good job explaining all the stuff. Sound stopps at 9:19. :-(

Suggestion:
Try not to touch (both battery and unit) contact metals due to human skin's oily residue secretions in our hands.
Applicable to any device with batteries.
(If you did, try wiping with alcohol)

Hello, I am planning on getting a VX-8DR. May I ask what required yours to be replaced? Would you recommend this radio?

how much did that cost u?
and how can I get one that made in Japan?
bely4444 1 year ago
@bely4444 MSRP if $540. But I've never seen it anywhere near that high of a price. Usually in the high 300's. I don't think they make them in Japan.
