don't rev the gixxers when you 1st start them as they warm there the engine them self`s if you do keep doing this your mess the bike up and it will cost more to fix then what you payee for it.
Im sure these bikes go through testing before being sent out. so idk if revving it is that bad for it. maybe on a cold engine. but not just because its its first crank up.
@peppy6078 Yeah I thought all engines were reved to the max for a set period of time in testing so I don't see why they need to be broken in...fair enough on the cold comment though.
I think you're all a little crazy. Its just a bike? Not his wife, his gf, his son or daughter etc. Its a bike, a material possesion, who gives a fuck..
According to the owners manual for the GSXR1000k8... Allow the engine to run at idle to allow warm oil to flow to all parts of the engine before riding/revving. (Something like that anyway). Engine breaking/running in procedure... 0 to 500 miles (800km) do not exceed 6,500 rpm. 500 to 1,000 miles (1,600km) do not exceed 10,000 rpm. I know 'cos I have one AND read the fucking book. This thing will be fucked in no time.
You do realise that engine break in is a very controversial topic. Everyone agrees that you have to warm up the engine, but there's different views on wether to do a hard or an easy break in. Personally i see the logic in a hard break in where you really stress the engine the first hundred miles.
Why should you not rev it up for a new bike? I am new and will be getting a 1000 as my first bike (i know not to ride stupid) and i was just wondering why in general it is not a good idea.
you have to let the motor warm up before you go ripping on it with my busa i let it idol for about 10 min then i ride for about 15 min before i rip on it
Alguien sabe que pasa con el damper electronico y los tres mapas si instalo en la gsxr 1000 2008 un yoshimura y un power comander??? dejan de funcionar???
I think you'll actually find that it's brand new and got 0 miles on it.... that 24 was the temperature in degrees celcius... I just picked my K8 1000 up on friday, and I've gotta take it back in on monday cause of a leaking fork seal.. Anyone else had this problem with a K8?

@Beliy2009
the engines been running for a long time already
the companys who manufacture engines always have to let it run to pass a specific test to be put on to bikes..
the engine itself probably has few billion revs on it already since it was first produced..
but as of a cold start yes its bad for the engine

That is 24 Celsius and thats too low. It must be 90-91 to be warmed and ready to go.

Do you know what "breaking in" is?
Do you know the one of the _worst_ things you can do to an engine, specially a new one, is to rev it to high rpms when It's cold?
Google for it.
