  • please do st. stephen!

  • I hope I don't comment 2 much but 5:45 f.e. shows what I said b4 about you embracing acoustic instruments instead of trying to emulate playing an electric solo on an acoustic. Although, I've seen your sweet electric in the background of some vids taunting us haha. Let us here you on that electric man! The harmonies, the jams, on YouTube HMG is second only to Phish themselves. No one has yet done it better. Show us your electric Dave :). Peace - Fellow musician and big fan - Steve

  • hell yeah! you guys are inspiring! i wanna go play my geetar now :-)

  • Haven't watched your videos in probably 2 or 3 months and then out of the blue before i get ready for work I was wondering what would be my soundtrack to my coffee and set the my mood for the whole day and it came to me, "HANDMADE GROOVE!" You're music literally changes my entire mood. You're talent is amazing and the way you 2 feed of each other is nothing short of top-notch. I guarantee that if Trey/the boys saw this they'd be pleased and it wouldn't be the last they'd listen to from HMG!

  • Wow, nice build back up from the middle solo section. That part always blows my mind. Great to see at least one guitar part from this song, but you have two. There is so much going on in this song it is hard to decipher everything. Great transcription.

  • @amurphycmu Thanks for watching this. FYI, Phish published transcriptions for Billy Breathes. Take care,

    David

  • damn.

  • I have to say, im fourteen and a huge phish fan, and I don't think i have ever seen a phish cover that actually was as amazing as the actual song. 3:00 blew my fucking mind, keep it up, you guys are amazingly talented.

  • Probably my favorite cover that the both of you have done (although your Scarlet Begonias cover is beyond amazing). Very rarely do I see a Phish song done justice. Great job of a great song. Very cool to see it done with just 2 guitars and vocals. My ears thank you for the immense pleasure.

  • Thank you. I'm still a little "iffy" about how this translates to just 2 acoustics, but it sure is fun to play. It would be really cool if Mike could help out with the bass a little!!! Thanks for taking the time to share kind words.

  • i think yall do a great job with it, but i think you're right about your iffyness.. it really misses that low end B.. keep playin fellas good stuff :)

  • just wanna say though you nail the groove through the center though.. good stuff.. music feeds the soul

  • I agree 100% these guys are the shit!

  • im coming down to tucson this winter i gotta see this with my own eyes, hope all is well david

  • It'll be great to meet you. When do you expect to be in town?

(So we know when to start practicing!)

    DH

  • This is good stuff.

  • another great job guys. . .great flow. . .a regular mike and trey almost. u guys should try Friday or the song Joy. I love Sloth, Lizards, Esther, Hood, Reba, and On Your Way Down best, but some would not fit ur acoustic style. But Alaska would. . .maybe u could try that next. Keep up the phenomenal work. . .just saw um in Camden and then Merriweather. Camden was like 4 X better, but MPP at least had new ones, rarities, but no good jams at all and no Walfredo. . .I mean it's in the lyrics!

  • Nice job, fellas! Lovely video of my fav phish song. I listen to it while I am working out almost every day. I have one question about your arrangement of that has bothered me for years (not the song itself, just how it is played):

What are the chords you play starting at the 7:56 mark? You know, the ones Page plays while Trey does that droning D thing on his guitar. I know it goes D, Dm, Bb, Ab, C, and then I always get lost there trying to listen for what the other chords are. Thanks.

  • awesome.

  • awesome. havent given your videos some play time in awhile, glad to hear you guys again!

  • This is my favorite jam I've seen you guys do. So melodic and beautiful.

  • Guys.. i have been waiting since David told me you guys were gonna do this one.. ROCK ON!!! Ya'll never dissapoint!

  • effin sweet

  • So is this Handmade Groove 2.0?

  • Don't know how familiar you guys are with Frank Zappa but I think, "What's New In Baltimore", would be great song for you to cover, complex intro with a great jam section at the end, you guys would kill it

  • Nice cover!

  • loved it!

  • ...and it loved YOU! How are you doing, Jeff Raben?

  • Nice to have you guys back. Great jam! I had never heard this song before. For some reason I never really got into phish but then I've never seen them live which I'm sure would make a big difference.I will have to give them another try because I love this song. I'm sure you guys get a lot of these but I have a request. "Find the cost of freedom" by CSNY. I know it's not really a song to jam to but I think you guys would do a great job. Peace

  • Hey man, all is well here hope the same there, getting EXCITED for the Phish show in Knoxville, hope yall are at least hitting some of the shows!!!! Great video by the way!!! Keep it up man I look forward to more great jams from you guys!!!! Josh

  • so tight guys,so good brothers.

  • damn sneak thats awesome. time to practice

  • excellent guys... just beautiful.

  • Man, how long do your guy's jam sessions usually last haha?

  • There's no jamming at all... Every note is written by Dave and his dog Nika. Then it has to be painstakingly remembered by me. It takes months of laborious clammering and meditation. hahaha!!!!

Thanks again for checking in with us. We really appreciate that you always back what we do!!

    Best, Hugh - Handmade Groove

  • Reminds me of the fantastic Bridgeschool acoustic sets. Great job, glad to have you back!

Great job guys- really diggin it.

  • Welcome Back Guys, you have been missed!

  • And easily best background ever.

  • Fingers. Best solo yet.

  • finally back! I'm still waiting for a sugar magnolia dead jam! Keep it up.

  • I said it before, I will say it again- it is those intense, intricate jams that keep me listening. Gents, that was smoldering! Thank you for posting again. Any thoughts of posting to the archive or laying down some tracks on a cd? Thanks again for this stellar rendition... ~~All the best.

  • Once again, thanks so much for your kind words of support. Keeps me thinking!!!

Is that a shower curtain behind you? I think I have the same one!

  • We filmed this on a green screen and then swapped out the background with this picture of a coral reef. That's one of the "high tech" video skills I've acquired! Keep in touch.

    David
