  • :O Amazing form.

  • He was a really great guy. He use to come down to Corpus Christi, TX for Belt Testing

  • There is nothing to be gained by posting negative comments on the internet.

Why any martial artist would do this is beyond me.

  • This man is legendary!!

  • old school

  • i love reading comments from ITF people that put down other masters performing patterns. even when these masters had a huge part to play in the development of what they call TaeKwon-Do today.

when have we seen any footage of Choi Hong Hi performing patterns???

Grand Master Park was an original foundation stone of TaeKwon-Do and along with a long list of fellow original members of the Ohdokwan, allowed Gen. Choi take all the limelight due to his position.

  • @jungshin Absolutely correct about all the above. I was fortunate to take my black belt test with my instructor and also GM Park Jung Tae before he passed away( in the mid 90s. Very humble individual given his absolutely legendary flying kicks, multiple kicks (before we had youtube tutorials) he pioneered what many today call good technique. Any TKD practitioner worth his/her salt should give BIG respect to"this guy"

  • I think his good, he hes great technick

  • wouldnt like to get hit by those techniques though! better than some posey show off competition style tul with no power. and for his age and health status at the time i think its a brilliant performance by anyones standards.

  • He's old there. He helped Gen Choi design most of the ITF patterns. other than Gen. Choi, GM Park had a bigger influence on tkd technique than anyone.

  • Considering he had liver cancer and was on death's door, he did damn good.

  • I think we just need to wait and see you performing better that "this guy" in some 30 years from now, when age and injuries take their toll.

  • @GizmoTKD AGREED

  • You better watch what you are saying. This men was the best TKD-technician in the world. He was in his fifties there and you are bitching about his pattern. Go to kickboxing, pal, cz you don't have the temperament for TKD. You have zero empathy or respect.

  • "staggering" is a part of the GTF style, not as much flow as in ITF. And show some respect, he's a Grand Master after all

  • Yeah,you noob.You need to show some respect,faggot!!!

  • Maybe it's because he is DYING FROM LIVER CANCER and it was all he could do to get out of bed that day. Look in the Tae Kwon Do Encyclopedia at the pattern Moon-Moo then make your "...better than that..." comment.

  • ElBastard117,

You must be really good! Didn't we see you on "To Catch a Predator" giving an interview? But you know what, none of use have ever heard of you other than that.

  • i rmeember my instructor won the world championship in toronto in like 2002 that shit was sweet he was crazy good

  • With all due respect, it might perhaps of old school or old age, in the current eye of ITF it have lots of technical shortcomings which left to be desire.

  • Please keep in mind that the footage was recorded 13 years ago and was published here for historical purposes, not to compare it with current ITF requirements.

  • Ah sorry i c i apologize.

  • @GizmoTKD

  • Park Jung Tae was in chronically poor health for the last ten years of his life. In fact, I think he was a bit fatigued at the end of this pattern because he slows things up a bit.

Having said that, I have never seen any performer generate the power he does. Want to know why you perform the Tuls? Well, just look at this Master's punches...ill health or not P-J-T could probably punch holes in a bus.

  • GM park dedicated his life and his heart to the art!

pain or not he never stopped!

i think watching the pattern u can see him slow it down and almost stagger at points BUT his heart done it perfect!

i agree with the pucnhing holes in bus`s- mite have made them be on time too lol

  • I prefer the old (traditional) way of doy the forms in taekwondo and the new ITF sparring. I don't like the sine wave, I think it is slower and less graceful. Even japanese's katas look better now

  • i like sinewave (admittenly ive only ever learned patterns with sinewave) i think they look smoother, prob not as powerful and fast as u would have learned but i prefer them sinewave lol, gental but leathel at the same time- gotta love it rite

  • went to several of his seminars during the 1990's. great guy and he will be missed. My instructor was in Fairbanks, Ak. Wish I would have stuck with Taekwon-do.

    Happy Holidays

  • Oh my God! This is my favourite form! My instructor was really close with him!

  • ur instructor GTF??? if so who???

  • His techniques look strong but the form looks very non-precise, bordering on sloppy

  • C,mon this IS Tae Kwon-do as it used to be. He is one of the pioneer Masters and as such shouldn't be criticised. and hey he's not a sprightly 20 years old in this video:o)

  • What are you talking about?

This is Park Jung Tae! The founder of GTF and you're calling HIS pattern sloppy? Wow. Bold.

  • My father is a master going to be grandmaster pretty soon. My father and I are both apart of the GTF. Grandmaster Park was a nice man when I trained with him it is a shame that he died. I will be testing for my black belt in August

  • may i ask where ur from?? i train under GTF scotland. wot master is your dad??

p.s, did u get ur blakbelt???

  • He's not my dad. Anyways, he's Master Vito Palella. Who's yours?

  • soz my bad, ahh yes master vito . he was in greece lovely guy.

i train under stepehn gell 4th dan/ ex team captian he competed in sardinia. master vito will prob know who he is. our GTF comes under ASC with mr cunningham rather than master brown, u going to international comp when they decide where its gonna be lol

    wb xx

  • Oh and yeah. I have a third degree. I'm from Canada. Are you going to the world championships? I hear it might either be in Scotland or Canada or Pueto Rico.

  • ahh your fae canada. u`ll know mellissa she`s a second dan i think, she was on the team in sardinia i think but i mite be wrong. i talk to her over bebo etc lol.

hoping scotland get to host the championships, we`ll deffo make it worth coming to:) u going? who do u train under?

  • I really hope I'm going!!

And I really want it to be in Scotland, other than Canada.

Yeah, I think I know the Melissa you're talking about. She's very nice!

  • hoping to go too, i hope scotland get it too lol. although would love to go to canada lol.

yeah melissa is lovely, never actually met her tho lol.

u werent in greece were u??

  • no.. i didnt go

but my instructor tested for his 7th degree there

  • aye i got his autograph just before the grading lol he graded with our master for the masters lol

    master brown lol

howz all ur end in TKD u seen the forums yet??

  • which forums?

  • i thought the kicks were suppose to be mid section????? maybe am mistaken

  • Remember GTF does the ITF patterns like the ITF used to do them in the 80's so he does the patterns like that but truly amazing eventhough not modern is a classic.

  • para mi gusto es muy rapido y no esta bien definido

very fast :( not this defined good

  • Hmm, perhaps he wouldn't be proud...

  • Roxas13579- why wouldnt choi be proud that GM park left ITF and founded GTF- isnt the point of the student to overcome the master? wouldnt he be happy to see the achievments GM park made for himself?

GTF hasnt taken anything away from ITF so wotz the problem?

GM park was one of ITF`s best- he apparently features in choi enclopedia of tkd! i think choi would be proud to say he helped GM park in his journey!!

  • I don't know about Choi being proud. P-J-T formed the GTF, largely, to enable the ITF ways to continue without obliging the Masters to be subjected to the ramifications of General Choi's dealings with Eastern Bloc nations. Generals tend to prefer unfaltering loyalty arising from the implied moral authority of their position...

But there's no doubt; if you are doing Taekwon-do "by the book" (i.e. the encyclopedia) you are most likely looking at P-J-T in the pictures.

  • GM park followed his heart! GTF isnt here to get one up on ITF- yes we are originally ITF and im sure gm park had reasons for leaving! the greatest thing for an instructor is too see the student better them selves past the instructor!

personally i think and i would hope choi would be proud!!

i dont understand where u say about the dealing with eastern nations- can u expand?!? thanks

  • Was he the guy who left the ITF and founded the GTF?

  • Yeah, that's the guy. Though I thought the GTF was still part of the ITF?

  • Nope, definetly isnt. Im part of the GTF and although we have many ITF members join our club, the ITF has changed alot in my area

  • ur GTF, where abouts u from??

  • Wow, Grandmaster Choi would be proud :)

  • that was awsome

  • OH my god!!!! i finally saw Grand Master Park playing pattern, thanks a lot!!!
