  • I MIGHT GET ONE OF THESE THERES A BABY FOR SALE NEAR MY HOUSE FOR 300 BUCKS

  • Did you need a liscence to buy him as a pet? And where did you buy/obtain him from?

  • @Chaokid9 Depending on where you live, capybaras may or may not be legal and/or require a license. There are both state and local laws to consider. To find out how to get a pet capybara and how to care for one, please visit Caplin's blog at giant hamster dot com and read the FACute.

  • i've always wanted one as an education animal.

  • boar ? guinea pig ? wombat ?

  • Was this "Bring Your Capybara To Work Day"? LOL!! He's soooo cute. ;)

  • These things always walk so slow lmao

  • He looks like a giant guinea pig, more than a hamster

  • Very cool I like the sounds he is making. Neat animal.

But how bout that grass? Mow the yard and pick up the trash.

  • what a fine beast! how can I get one in Georgia?

  • we have a wild family group of these living on our family farm in the Northeast of Brasil, maybe I should start farming them?

  • I love watching caplins vids!

  • were do you get one of thous i want one

  • is he full grown? And where can you find a vet that'll treat a capybara?

  • What about gnawing the furniture or pooing in the swimming pool? Isn't he quite destructive? Also how high can he jump and how does he get along with cats? Many thanks in advance.

  • @usenetposts He does not chew on things or dig. He can jump about three feet high. He gets along with most other animals but cats are afraid of him. He does poop in the pool but I clean it out immediately and vacuum it every day when it is warm so it's not much of a problem.

  • Thanks for that.

  • It looks like the word apology or apologies. And it acts like someone going to apologize to somebody but they don't know how to do it.

The noises it makes sounds like if you were out in the middle of nowhere. It would be a bird or something. In the distance. Maybe it is mimicing the noise of a sound it enjoys? Kind of like a in a meadow by a forest with a slight breeze on a warm sunny day. Is what the noise sounds like. Or the picture I get with the noise it makes.

  • LOL "he's getting away!" like he is sooo fast lol. He has a real chill walk

  • he is sooo cute. :) he walks so slow hehe. is he too heavy to carry? he looks like a dog from far away. is he house trained?

  • You can learn more about Caplin by reading his blog (see channel page or description of this video for URL). He is house trained. He uses a bowl of water. He weighs 100 lbs so we can't carry him any more. In this video he was about 50 lbs.

  • OMG I have always wanted a capybara

    from Molly age 7

  • choke chain? is that really necessary?

  • The choke chain doesn't do anything except give me about 15 more seconds to react to him getting out of the harness, which it is quite easy for him to do. He got out of it this weekend in fact and the choke chain was all he had on him until I got the harness back on.

  • giant pet guine pig :3

  • this rat capybara looks so unhappy. let go back in the wild.

  • @BROB1141 he doesn't seem unhappy, look at the other videos. His owner loves him and he must not mind cooperating if he can perform tricks. Most of the time rodents are content with being pets as long as they are fed and their specific needs are met.

  • oh, ok. i guess it makes him happy to be forced into the car, and to be forced to wear a leash when its time for a walk.

i guess thats cooperation at its best huh. wild animals belong in the wild.

  • This capybara is not from the wild, he was born in Texas.

  • these ugly ass rodents can be found in the wild all over the country. you said that with confidence, like there arent wild animals in texas or something.

but my problem with this is..........why am i still getting responses to my comments that i left weeks ago...?

its a wild animal, and he hasnt been domesticated. the videos prove it.

  • why are you screaming?

  • does he act more like a dog than hamster? sorry silly question

  • As you might expect, he doesn't really act like either a hamster or a dog but if I had to pick, I'd say a dog. He is active during the day for one thing. And you can walk him on a leash. He knows a lot of tricks and he won't run in a wheel.

  • what do you seed it?

  • For information on what Caplin eats, please see the FACute on his blog. The blog URL is in the comments to this video and on the channel home page.

  • Do they shed a lot of hair?

  • No, he sheds a little every day but it is coarse wiry hair that is very easy to pick up.

  • How much do they cost?

  • Please read the FACute on my blog.

  • Where did you get one of those? I know they aren't native to North America? I'm really intrested ha thanks.

  • Please read the FACute on my blog.

  • can you keep capybaras as a pet in england? I LOVE CAPYBARAS

  • I am not sure about keeping capybaras in the UK. Here in the US, laws very from state to state and from county to county. It's probably the same over there. I do not know of anyone who has a pet capybara in the UK but then I don't know many people here who do.

  • Thanks so much x Capybaras rock!

  • which states allow capybaras?

  • Sorry, I don't know which states allow them and which don't, except for a few cases. Texas is fine. CA, FL require permits. NY has very restrictive laws regarding rodents.

  • I love him :D

  • i wish i could gey one

  • Might I remind you that you are the person who chose to watch "some moron try to put a harness on a gerbil for 5 minutes".

  • Caplin is so adorable! How much did he cost?

  • He was $300. You can read his blog for more information. Blog address is on channel homepage.

  • you are his humans! if he dont wanna take you for a walk, you must listen!! :)

  • haha caplin doesnt like work . . i no the feeling . . . and do u hav to make or by a speacil harness for them? also i am guessing it isnt smart (or possible ) to have them in ares that have all the seasons?

  • He wears a dog harness but he can get out of it if he backs up. So we use a choke chain as a 2nd line of defense. He can get out of that too, it just takes him a little longer.

I hear capybaras adapt well to cold climates but I am no expert on that. It doesn't get cold here.

  • do u hav to get a lisence to own one?????

  • It depends on where you live. Texas is pretty lenient but they are illegal in some places.

  • where did you buy him at?

  • I can't post a link in a comment. The link to the main breeder of capybaras in the US is on the channel main page. Capybaras are a lot of work and can be aggressive (Caplin has bitten me), so be sure you know what you're getting into before you get one.

  • Amazing, and I thought that I had problems sneaking my 11 pound dog into places... yet the sign really does only say "No Dogs Allowed"!

  • I'd like going to the creek better than going to work too. ;O)

  • no wonder the network is down he bites through all the wires

  • it's so adorable

  • lol its so funny when he gets his harness on, hes like a dog when you put a hat on them or something, they just stand there and look so pissed at you.

  • There not bags of meat.. there the worlds largest rodent..

  • So cool your do lucky to have such a cool pet.

He seems so relaxed and not really bovered when he stands still and looks around.

    He seems quite asertive.

  • Caplin looks like he doesn't really want to go to work. I know the feeling.

  • Caplin certainly had a lot to say! I could hear him chuckling under his breath about the way Sheldon was pretending to have things under control. I think we all know who is in control here.

  • He cracks me up the way he'll take a few steps, and just stand there. Kinda like a squirrel, only much cooler and less... squirrely.

  • Oh...what a tough thing to go to work for capybara!

Caplin, you're only infiltrating capybara in the world...It's a mission:Impossibara

  • clearly that handler is an amateur. way to motivate the beast

  • 5:53- his hindquarters reminds me of a coconut

  • I always say he looks like a coconut and his hair is so coarse it feels like a coconut too.

  • Caplin, you look very industrious. Don't let your co-workers talk you into stuffing envelopes, though (use the opposable thumbs argument; works every time). Let 'em know you're executive material. Then take a popsicle break.

  • my favorite is 5:16-5:28

  • he got so bigg!! :)
