  • Wow

  • Wow. I'm tempted to replace Julian Bream as my fave. this is fantastic. So light and clear and nimble. I'd give up facial expression for the rest of my life to play like this.

  • You guys are al such idiots. You insult her talent and practice.

  • facial expressions while playing are really more from anticipating your next move or hand position while executing your current passage correctly. the less facial expression you have, the less anxiety or anticipation you have about playing. A relaxed straight face is a clear sign of musical confidence, and ease. not to say some emotion isnt shown during ups and downs of the music. look at the face of Segovia, straight, confident, relaxed, he is sure he is "doing it right".

  • anyone know what kind of guitar she plays here?

  • great

  • That was inspiring. Good job!

  • Excellent performance. Very accurate and clarity on each and every note.

  • gosh she is a machine!! awesome, perfectly played.

  • es realmente buena, pero muy mecanica

  • demasiado buena aplausos

  • I can do this with my eyes close... oh wait... she is doing it with her close... Im jk jk jk jk!!! Gosh she has great skill for her age! Naturally gifted!

  • In any case, personally I have a tendency to be irritated by much emotional display; contorted faces, bodies swaying and such.. It seems it's an element that can be worked on and more or less eliminated, like any other bad habit.Although I totally forgive Yamashita, cause it's so much a part of his essence..

  • Grayh123: I'm cool with that.. I see where you're comin from and I agree. keep it flowin'..

  • So basically you are saying that the only way to play with emotion is to have contorted facial expressions.

  • I prefer "faces-less" guitarists because they please the crowd rather than themselves.

  • That is very true, pleasing the crowd is very important, then again, you should love your job. And no im not saying you HAVE to have a screwed-up face to play with emotion, im only stating that people knock them, saying "they suck they look so stupid" but in realitiy they are just feeling the music, and i respect that. They have more self respect than respect from others. You might not agree, and thats okay, im only stating you CANT make fun of them for that. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression

  • asians dont have facial expressions u racist bastid

  • @jonesjones12

Pianist Lang Lang have much, but I know some others that don't have these expressions : Sviatoslav Richter for example (among others). Both have expressive playing without a doubt. How about Li Jie ? It's a study though.

  • for those who think she's got not no emotions in face when she played:

This video series is only for demonstration purposes. It is intended to show guitar learners how basically a piece is played. You can check out concert performance of this lady. She's got the so called emotional faces for sure. Do your research before you judge!

  • I agree with TheMusicPerson90, even in Asian culture there are ppl who love expressing themselves in facial/body way, you may say "the majority of Asian" but that is the point, everyone is an individual, you can't stereotype. Check out Kazuhito Yamashita's video, he is Asian and he is not from Hawaii.

  • I believe Daxcheese is right about expressings.

Jake Shimabukuro may have the "Asian look" but he's from Hawaii, culture for example differs h**l a lot between Hawaii and China.

  • You're right. That was my point, precisely.

  • asians don't display their emotions as westerners tend to do. What you percieve as sadness is imo simply concentration. Didn't your parents ever make you work? Don't you wish you had that level of guitar? Do you really think she, of all the billion humans on this planet, deserves our pity? Hope this helps.

  • Don't stereotype. Everyone is an individual.

  • People from different backgrounds and cultures sometimes have different ways of expressing themselves. And honestly, when I played some stuff that was like amazing to me, I didnt actually have any facial expressions whatsoever. But that doesnt mean I didnt feel it ... just that it isnt something natural. To me these facial expressions are just a means to show OTHERS that I feel something. Which I dont like, cuz its just fake.

  • I was mainly getting at that it isn't right to say all asians don't show facial expressions. People differ in that category by personality, not race. Search "Jake Shimabukuro". He uses alot of emotion. Plus his ukelele videos are pretty cool :)

  • I don't know guys, look how sad she looks.

makes you think how many hours a day her

    parents made her practice.

  • Boy, she is good.

  • I'm not worthy to be in the same room. Such blessings are few in this world.

  • If she plugged her guitar into an amp and distorted the sound and took drugs and had a back up band with crazy drums with lots of bombast and slouched more...

... then she could become world famous.

  • Awesome!!! A guitar godddess LOL!!! And not to mention, she's got looks!!! ^_^ Kudos!!!

P.S. Being a slave to her or including her in my band would be AWESOME!!!

  • xue fei yang?

  • Yeah definitely the best female guitarist virtuoso I've ever heard! I wanna be her slave!

  • that can be arranged

  • WOW! She is flawless. I love all her work.

  • Ive listened to most of her stuff so far. She is GOD. well. She is in with the big boys.

  • she is really great

  • It sounds sooooo clear and clean. Wonderful, as always.
