@Faxe90Swe Oh i know. the way the protesters were treated in America was very wrong. and just how the government did channel our good men. i do know some. i feel the use of propaganda in the Vietnam war was just over used and did confuse soldiers on why they are going to war. right now in my English class we are reading, "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. @DriveByable HEY DUMBASS SHUT THE FUCK UP THOSE BOYS DID SHIT YOU COULD ONLY THINK ABOUT YOUD BE DOIN DOPE IF YOU SAW YOUR FRIENDS GET BLOWN TO BITS IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES TOO! DONT OPEN YOUR MOUTH ABOUT SHIT YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT MOTHERFUCKER PEOPLE LIKE YOU NEED TO BE SHOT FOR SUCH IGNORANCE AND BTW... NOT ALL AMERICAN WAR VETS ARE DRUG ADDICTS YOU STUPID CHINKY FUCK I HOPE YOU DIE IN A HOLE SOMEWHERE SEMPER FI HOOAH GET SOME!
@varmintmurderer420 - Brilliant, another stellar display of your above average intelligence. If people deserve to be shot for their ignorance, as you suggest, you should have been blown into a million tiny pieces by now. And don't call people Chinkies, you wannabe Jarhead - it's childish and offensive.
@hellengotheroin what the fuck is so far up your ass that you have to talk shit to the guy for deffending and supporting the troops. you dont know shit about it, havin to be dropped off near a shit hole city made of clay and cylinder blocks that smells like ass and everybody hates you and doesnt want to tell you where the enemy is beacause their scared there gonna get thier heads cut off if they do tell you and then suddenly shots are fired and 2 kids are killed and you have to call it a day
@hellengotheroin and go back to base camp and have to explain that you couldnt get any information and 2 kids where killed and the next day you have to drive hum v's near the same city and make a check point so you can stop outgoing and incoming traffic asking these smelly ass rag heads where there going and what for and they look at you stupid and dont say much and leave and it turns out later that day in another sector that same guy had his car rigged to blow and he kills 15 people x2 wounded
@Fuckrap2 - They look at you stupid, do they? Not everyone in the world speaks English, you fucking idiot. I'm not taking exception to your time in the Army, which you would understand if you actually bothered to read my comments instead of throwing a tantrum, it's your racism and casual use of ignorant terms that appals me. I really don't care if you fought on the fucking moon.
@hellengotheroin dont tell me your one of those brain washed code pink dumb fucks that protest me for no fucking reason. i was in the MARINES not the boy scouts dipshit theres a big fucking difference between the corps and the fucking army. if you dont support the troops and our country then WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE
@hellengotheroin If the guy has served time in the Marines and done any fighting in the Middle East and is using so-called racist terms just fucking let it be.You have no idea of what his day-to-day was in a combat zone and you probably never will. You can do all the talking in the fucking world ..it makes no difference,he has lived a far more educational experience then your backwoods dumb-fuck mind could ever hope to comprehend. He was experiencing life, you probably just read about it,faggot.
@fidellah23 - No, I won't let it be; you're clearly so ignorant that you can't see how inherently wrong it is that the people your country are trying to help are being vilified by ex-soldiers. Here's a question for you; if he's so willing to use racist terminology, then why the fuck did he join up in the first place?
And I doubt that highly. I wouldn't class shooting people for oil as an educational experience.
"Faggot"?
...Is this genuinely supposed to be an insult? What are you, five?
@hellengotheroin Im sure the racist terminology just comes from anger and frustration of being in combat and having anger toward people that are going to kill you.And it is not just shooting at people for oil,he has seen first hand what evil people can do to one another, and how raw and extreme enemies can treat one another. He has witnessed a harsh reality that neither myself or you have ever expierenced...I am sure he learned a great deal about the duality of men.And yah, faggot is an insult.
@fidellah23 - Brilliant quote from Full Metal Jacket there. We certainly are up on our war films, aren't we.
And bizarrely, I don't find the term "faggot" insulting, since I'm a woman and incidentally don't think being gay is anything to be ashamed of. Funny that.
And if somebody threatened to kill me and was waving a gun in my face, I'd sure as hell feel angry, but race wouldn't come into it.
I am sure race would come into it after long enough.Once again you have no idea because you have never been in a situation as harsh as he was. What full metal jacket quote?Does the drill sergeant guy call them faggots?
@fidellah23 - So society as a whole is supposed to sanction racism because a corrupt government encouraged its youth to fight for oil profits in the Middle East? Ludicrous.
@hellengotheroin No,but he as an individual I am sure has been very battle-worn and at the end of the day if he is frusturated with an enemy and wants to call them any degrading term he wants it is not really too big of a deal.Society, like yourself and I would not understand his anger...we would just see it as ignorant and obscene language. You should read All quiet on the western front. There is a good section in it on war-beaten soldier's language
@fidellah23 - I disagree, I'd say it's a massive deal given that the soldier has been sent to whatever area for a specific reason. How can someone reconcile their duty of helping others with racism directed at those same people? Can't you see how perverse that is?
@hellengotheroin "It is impossible to express oneself in any other way so clearly and pithily. Our families and our teachers will be shocked when we go home, but here it is the universal language."
Erich Maria Remarque, All Quiet On The Western Front, Ch. 1....It is written by a veteran of ww1. Society does not speak in the same manner...only the soldiers that have had a very traumatic expierience speak that way.
@fidellah23 - Racism didn't come into play in World War 1 - no doubt that veteran was referring to the coarse language commonplace in the trenches. I couldn't give a flying fuck how traumatic an experience somebody has had - if they're willing to come home and express contempt in the worst way possible for the people they're supposed to be helping, then why bother joining the army at all? Oh, that's right - you get to play with guns.
@hellengotheroin It's not too surprising that men who were perfectly decent in the U.S. became indecent in Vietnam, where people had been dealing with with foreign invaders who didn't understand their culture since the arrival of the French in the 17th century. They didn't trust us; the little girl who smiled and accepted a Hershey bar from you might later toss a hand grenade into the latrine while you were using it. Knowing this could easily turn a soldier bitter and foul-mouthed.
@hellengotheroin Racist slurs are just insults. They are no worse than any other insult. Using a racial slur is not inherently wrong, treating someone like a sub-human because of racial reasons is though. In fact letting a racial slur affect you shows a lack of intelligence. I would be much more offended if someone called me a mother fucker or son of a bitch since this directly references me or my mother whereas being called a "cracker" merely means im white, thanks for noticing.
@ImpeachObamaASAP2010 - Are you for real? Despite being perfectly qualified to debate on lack of intelligence, you're obviously delusional if you think that "mother fucker" is more personal than a racist insult. There is no grander way to display your ignorance than to address someone by a racial slur, and frankly I'm astounded you think otherwise.
@hellengotheroin "mother fucker" means you fuck your own mother, so ya it is far worse than anything else. Period.
You can choose to be upset by racial remarks but what does the slur really mean? that you are of the race that you are? To treat someone as a sub-human because of racial reasons is far worse than calling them any type of name. The US justice system agrees with me. A person can yell out any racial slur during a physical fight yet this does not make it a "hate crime."
@ImpeachObamaASAP2010 - What on earth does that have to do with the point I was making?
And it's far more logical for someone to take a racist slur literally than for someone to take "mother fucker" literally. The use of racist slurs denotes ignorance and bigotry, and shouldn't be sanctioned in any way. End of.
@hellengotheroin You can literally yell out, "DIE NIGGER DIE" while during a physical confrontation without it being a hate crime so long as the fight was not started because of racial reasons. There have been several cases showing this and has been further backed up by in a few states with state legislature.
@varmintmurderer420 You know who have to get shot? the people who sent these soldiers in the first place to fight "communism". Paranoid asshole leaders
That fuckin kicks ass!!!!!!!!! sorry that happened to him. bet that really hurt to see all his comrades die, shitty fuckin war, my dad was vietnam vet too with similiar stories.
There are 58,000+ names on The Wall. If you didn't go, you don't know. Second hand stories are Bull. They usually come from a REMF. Those that were there in the boonies don't want to tell their stories. There is no glory in war. There is death and that is what you face when you go out into Indian Country. Watch the movie but you have no emotional investment. Keep your uncle's story btween you and him. A Boonie Rat won't want to tell you about losing a brother in Nam. Remember those we lost.
@skywatcher7175 I totally agree with you man I wasn't there and I'm not gonna brag about the stories I've heard my uncle was in the shit he only talked about once when he was stone drunk I'll never forget it war is not glorious at all for those who were there it was hell pure hell and nothing compares (Those who support war usually have never been in one) also on a brighter side I dig the RAMF/REMF reference made me laugh well have a good one wise man
@USMC77777 , My uncle is very much the same. My aunt says that till this day, he still has nighmares about Vietnam...he violently thrashes about, screaming and yelling about no dying, yet he's SLEEPING!!! She said that it was worse right after he came back...one thing, he never brags about his service, he has his uniform and dog tags, locked away with pics and other memorabilia locked in a Army issued foot locker, hidden where only he knows.
@MrUgotz472 yeah lucky for you, you still have him hard headed sonofabitch got a shrapnel wound over there and it stayed in his leg for 50 years it eventually got infected and it was either lose the leg and live or keep it and die tough bastard decided to take the latter well god bless friend
@USMC77777 ,sorry friend, I can tell that you really loved and cared for him!! These Viet Nam vets deserve better! The way our government pussy-footed around with that whole situation, cost many familys to lose loved ones! I'll include your Uncle in my prayers, best wishes to you and the family!!
The 60's and 70's was a great time for music...but a seriously bad time for a large portion of the Earths population. I'm nostalgic for many things from that era...but all those lives lost was a serious down.
Your uncle is a badass! God bless the marines who had to die on his base though, glad he avenged them. A lot of heroic deeds were preformed in Vietnam (as in all wars) but the majority of them go undocumented or unrecognized. My unlce was also in 'Nam. He was a radio man in the Marines and he stepped on a land mine while on patrol, luckily he survived and he didnt even lose his leg, he still has problems with the shrapnel though and PTSD :(
@TheCptkrunch13 Wow man, he got off lucky though, if you think about it. There were tons of guys who are like walking puzzles, always missing an important piece.
You love war?! What kind of moron are you? People killing other people for what? land, money It doesn't matter. Peace my brother that is what matters.
MY uncle Steve Gutierrez was in nam. His Marine base was overrun by NVA. The gooks killed all the Marines but my uncle was the only one left alive. My uncle hid himself underneath dead Marines with his hand around his rifle. As the nva walked away he opened fire on them and killed them all. He then ran back to get reinforcements. He got a medal for it. I got the documents to prove
@neverwasapunk16 I love second hand war stories from idiots who never joined or went. I'm a Marine who did multiple tours in Iraq ( 3rd Battalion 6th Marines ) and I find it aggravating that people can watch any movie or youtube video about combat and simply break it down to a comment like this.. i find it interesting that your uncle can talk about that stuff?..Let me tell you from first hand experience! ITS NOT GLORIOUS FUN SHIT!! and those "GOOKS" are more of a warrior than you'll ever be.
@neverwasapunk16 , your uncle deserves the gratitude and thanks of All America, for what he experienced in Vietnam. The US didn't have a plan, they mis-judged the NVA and their capabilities, which resulted in many US soldiers coming home in body bags!! Those who served, deserve RESPECT, not all of that b.s. that most of them endured when coming back state-side, damn hippies screwing for peace, they were just SPOILED RICH BRATS WHO WERE COWARDS, HIDING BEHIND BUNK IDEALS!
@M1Healy I have a pic of my uncle in Nam . Hes just standing there with all of his gear on next to some dried out bushes. It was a Polaroid.. at least its what it looked like. Not sure if they even had those back then. Ive been looking for that picture for years. idk what my family did with it.
@neverwasapunk16 My Uncle was in WW2 at D-Day. His Unite landet beyond the enemy lines, where they were fighting there way threw to some Bunkers from the Atlantikwall. They stormed the Bunkers and found Hitlers secret son. After my Uncle killed him by shooting him in the face, Hitler wanted to do a cagefight with him and my uncle said yes. As they´r fighting my uncle gave him this huge uppercut so that he got ko´d. In the goodbye letter from hitler it says this was the reason why he shot himself
@Husseinrabsha M2490311 is right think trade that's was my problem, I joined graduated from basic then sept 11 happened went and fought in the Phillipines where Platoon was actually filmed but anyway I came home without a trade in a bad economy. Needless to say the military was a great experience for the most part but a big waste of time mainly my fualt. Don't be dumb like me!
There were a lot more drugs being run and done in Viet-Nam down. Shit doesn't fly these days. My pops is a Viet-Nam vet and he's got some stories. Opium, LSD, Weed...Whatever. Told me one about them getting all goosed on opium and sitting in the back of a jeep right after one of his buddies kicked over a big water can that had just been filled. This kid who took offense threw a big assed rock at the jeep, and my pops said that it was like a slow-mo movie. Then, BAM! rock hits head
me and my friends were in military school hanging out, we were so tired and one of them had his ipod on some speakers, and this song came on. It seemed appropriate because we were smoking and we were all so quiet and staring into space. One of the best examples in my life where i was at complete peace.
If I can offer any piece of advice, it would be to weigh all of your options (militarily) before deciding. Many have the illusion of joining, going infantry, and doing the whole "kill kill kill" bit. Do something that can lead to a trade-it's an up as far as other job candidates out of Uni, because you'll have real experience. I was U.S. Marine Corps Infantry. It's hard to work a resume when your military experience boils down to "I trained to kill people." Brain food.
@M2490311 im not one of those guys that wants to sign up just to load an m16 and hope to shoot anything that moves. i just want to do something where i know im doing something good in this world. if that means fighting for my country rhen so be it. thanks for the advice though

Fuckrap2 10 months ago
@Fuckrap2 - They look at you stupid, do they? Not everyone in the world speaks English, you fucking idiot. I'm not taking exception to your time in the Army, which you would understand if you actually bothered to read my comments instead of throwing a tantrum, it's your racism and casual use of ignorant terms that appals me. I really don't care if you fought on the fucking moon.

He was experiencing life, you probably just read about it,faggot.
fidellah23 9 months ago
@fidellah23 - No, I won't let it be; you're clearly so ignorant that you can't see how inherently wrong it is that the people your country are trying to help are being vilified by ex-soldiers. Here's a question for you; if he's so willing to use racist terminology, then why the fuck did he join up in the first place?
And I doubt that highly. I wouldn't class shooting people for oil as an educational experience.
"Faggot"?
...Is this genuinely supposed to be an insult? What are you, five?
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
@hellengotheroin Im sure the racist terminology just comes from anger and frustration of being in combat and having anger toward people that are going to kill you.And it is not just shooting at people for oil,he has seen first hand what evil people can do to one another, and how raw and extreme enemies can treat one another. He has witnessed a harsh reality that neither myself or you have ever expierenced...I am sure he learned a great deal about the duality of men.And yah, faggot is an insult.
fidellah23 9 months ago
@fidellah23 - Brilliant quote from Full Metal Jacket there. We certainly are up on our war films, aren't we.
And bizarrely, I don't find the term "faggot" insulting, since I'm a woman and incidentally don't think being gay is anything to be ashamed of. Funny that.
And if somebody threatened to kill me and was waving a gun in my face, I'd sure as hell feel angry, but race wouldn't come into it.
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
I am sure race would come into it after long enough.Once again you have no idea because you have never been in a situation as harsh as he was. What full metal jacket quote?Does the drill sergeant guy call them faggots?
fidellah23 9 months ago
@fidellah23 - So society as a whole is supposed to sanction racism because a corrupt government encouraged its youth to fight for oil profits in the Middle East? Ludicrous.
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
@hellengotheroin No,but he as an individual I am sure has been very battle-worn and at the end of the day if he is frusturated with an enemy and wants to call them any degrading term he wants it is not really too big of a deal.Society, like yourself and I would not understand his anger...we would just see it as ignorant and obscene language. You should read All quiet on the western front. There is a good section in it on war-beaten soldier's language
fidellah23 9 months ago
@fidellah23 - I disagree, I'd say it's a massive deal given that the soldier has been sent to whatever area for a specific reason. How can someone reconcile their duty of helping others with racism directed at those same people? Can't you see how perverse that is?
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
@hellengotheroin "It is impossible to express oneself in any other way so clearly and pithily. Our families and our teachers will be shocked when we go home, but here it is the universal language."
Erich Maria Remarque, All Quiet On The Western Front, Ch. 1....It is written by a veteran of ww1. Society does not speak in the same manner...only the soldiers that have had a very traumatic expierience speak that way.
fidellah23 9 months ago
@fidellah23 - Racism didn't come into play in World War 1 - no doubt that veteran was referring to the coarse language commonplace in the trenches. I couldn't give a flying fuck how traumatic an experience somebody has had - if they're willing to come home and express contempt in the worst way possible for the people they're supposed to be helping, then why bother joining the army at all? Oh, that's right - you get to play with guns.
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
@hellengotheroin It's not too surprising that men who were perfectly decent in the U.S. became indecent in Vietnam, where people had been dealing with with foreign invaders who didn't understand their culture since the arrival of the French in the 17th century. They didn't trust us; the little girl who smiled and accepted a Hershey bar from you might later toss a hand grenade into the latrine while you were using it. Knowing this could easily turn a soldier bitter and foul-mouthed.
MsLogjam 8 months ago
@hellengotheroin Racist slurs are just insults. They are no worse than any other insult. Using a racial slur is not inherently wrong, treating someone like a sub-human because of racial reasons is though. In fact letting a racial slur affect you shows a lack of intelligence. I would be much more offended if someone called me a mother fucker or son of a bitch since this directly references me or my mother whereas being called a "cracker" merely means im white, thanks for noticing.
ImpeachObamaASAP2010 9 months ago
@ImpeachObamaASAP2010 - Are you for real? Despite being perfectly qualified to debate on lack of intelligence, you're obviously delusional if you think that "mother fucker" is more personal than a racist insult. There is no grander way to display your ignorance than to address someone by a racial slur, and frankly I'm astounded you think otherwise.
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
@hellengotheroin "mother fucker" means you fuck your own mother, so ya it is far worse than anything else. Period.
You can choose to be upset by racial remarks but what does the slur really mean? that you are of the race that you are? To treat someone as a sub-human because of racial reasons is far worse than calling them any type of name. The US justice system agrees with me. A person can yell out any racial slur during a physical fight yet this does not make it a "hate crime."
ImpeachObamaASAP2010 9 months ago
@ImpeachObamaASAP2010 - What on earth does that have to do with the point I was making?
And it's far more logical for someone to take a racist slur literally than for someone to take "mother fucker" literally. The use of racist slurs denotes ignorance and bigotry, and shouldn't be sanctioned in any way. End of.
hellengotheroin 9 months ago
@hellengotheroin You can literally yell out, "DIE NIGGER DIE" while during a physical confrontation without it being a hate crime so long as the fight was not started because of racial reasons. There have been several cases showing this and has been further backed up by in a few states with state legislature.
ImpeachObamaASAP2010 9 months ago

There are 58,000+ names on The Wall. If you didn't go, you don't know. Second hand stories are Bull. They usually come from a REMF. Those that were there in the boonies don't want to tell their stories. There is no glory in war. There is death and that is what you face when you go out into Indian Country. Watch the movie but you have no emotional investment. Keep your uncle's story btween you and him. A Boonie Rat won't want to tell you about losing a brother in Nam. Remember those we lost.

The US didn't have a plan, they mis-judged the NVA and their capabilities, which resulted in many US soldiers coming home in body bags!! As they´r fighting my uncle gave him this huge uppercut so that he got ko´d. In the goodbye letter from hitler it says this was the reason why he shot himself

Told me one about them getting all goosed on opium and sitting in the back of a jeep right after one of his buddies kicked over a big water can that had just been filled.
