mtg is a better more complex and more exiting game then yu-gi-oh in any way. it's also more belanced and has a better concept in general. but yu-gi-oh is still fun to play, only not on the long term and not something i want to put money in.

I feel like YGO is for the children too get started on so that when they hit high school, or they feel like they need too upgrade, they'll be prepared too face off in MTG. Plus the pictures on the MTG cards are way better than the one's on YGO.
I play them both, I just play magic more often, I tend to get a little tired of spending 80% of a magic game arguing about the rules, which is where the occaisional yugioh fix comes it, it's a simpler, faster game.
Trying to compare Yugioh to Magic is like trying to compare Chess to Shatranj. They're two different games, from two different parts of the world, and even though one game may have borrowed heavily from the other, that doesn't necessarily make it "inferior". The primary differences are purely cosmetic.
I've also seen the gist of the pro-Yugioh argument is "Yugioh is the best and magic sucks dick!" How the fuck is that a viable argument? You can't promote your position by randomly attacking the other side. Then you just become like a fucking democrat.
I've looked through several comments here, and it appears that the main pro-Magic argument is that Magic is targeted towards teenagers and up, and Yugioh is for children, therefore Magic is the better game. By that logic then, are we saying that books like "Angels and Demons" or "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" are somehow better than books like "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" or "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"?
I really like. To each his own I suppose, In the end, we're all playing a card game that we enjoy and like playing =]. There are always dicks though, who have to ruin the fun and go " YGO IS BETTER ! Here are my 2 cents on the topic. MTG and YGO both have their ups and downs, yes, YGO HAS become too dependent no rare cards, this is where MTG shines in my opinion, the deck structure is great =]. All this arguing is useless since EVERYONE here is biased and will lean towards the game THEY play. The original YGO cards and shows are actually VERY different from the U.S. Versions, I was shocked when I saw this, it's def. aimed at older teens. I started playing magic with my bro when i was 8 years old. Not that I'm very good at it. I played some casual games at my nearby rpg-shop. Sometimes i got beaten and sometimes i won. One of my friends started playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, and i would like to check that out too. I brought some booster packs and a starter deck and customized it. At Yu-Gi-Oh! it just seemed that the one with the best cards won the game. IMO, Yu-Gi-Oh! is too rare-card-dependant to play. Ill never play it again.

I feel like YGO is for the children too get started on so that when they hit high school, or they feel like they need too upgrade, they'll be prepared too face off in MTG. Plus the pictures on the MTG cards are way better than the one's on YGO.

To me Magic seems more like a battle simulation..
Yugioh on the other hand, I can't tell (Even though I played for many years.)
But I guess that people like it for some reason. So there's no point telling that MTG is better than YGO or the opposite...

I play them both, I just play magic more often, I tend to get a little tired of spending 80% of a magic game arguing about the rules, which is where the occaisional yugioh fix comes it, it's a simpler, faster game.

Trying to compare Yugioh to Magic is like trying to compare Chess to Shatranj. They're two different games, from two different parts of the world, and even though one game may have borrowed heavily from the other, that doesn't necessarily make it "inferior". The primary differences are purely cosmetic.

I've looked through several comments here, and it appears that the main pro-Magic argument is that Magic is targeted towards teenagers and up, and Yugioh is for children, therefore Magic is the better game. By that logic then, are we saying that books like "Angels and Demons" or "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" are somehow better than books like "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" or "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"?

I really like. To each his own I suppose, In the end, we're all playing a card game that we enjoy and like playing =]. There are always dicks though, who have to ruin the fun and go " YGO IS BETTER ! WHINE WHINE WHINE ", nah man, It's awesome when a YGO and MTG Player can talk to each other and share ideas about each others game. Who knows, you may even get an idea for your deck ;P.

If you play a game and you enjoy it, then it's great =D. There is no need to bash on another game because you don't like it. There is no way YGO is a childrens card game anymore though, yes, it's aimed towards them with the U.S Shows and the toned down artwork, but the game has evolved too much since LOB. There are too many rulings on chains, links, triggering, summonings, timings, effects, etc.. its crazy. I'm personally a YGO Duelist, but I don't bash on MTG, there are aspects of MTG that

Here are my 2 cents on the topic. MTG and YGO both have their ups and downs, yes, YGO HAS become too dependent no rare cards, this is where MTG shines in my opinion, the deck structure is great =]. All this arguing is useless since EVERYONE here is biased and will lean towards the game THEY play. The original YGO cards and shows are actually VERY different from the U.S. Versions, I was shocked when I saw this, it's def. aimed at older teens. Whether or not MTG or YGO are better does not matter.

I started playing magic with my bro when i was 8 years old. Not that I'm very good at it. I played some casual games at my nearby rpg-shop. Sometimes i got beaten and sometimes i won. One of my friends started playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, and i would like to check that out too. I brought some booster packs and a starter deck and customized it. At Yu-Gi-Oh! it just seemed that the one with the best cards won the game. IMO, Yu-Gi-Oh! is too rare-card-dependant to play. Ill never play it again.

From the comments ive read the yugioh fans are childish. They are getting upset over people talking shit about ther little cartoon. On the other hand Magic the Gathering fans just say yugioh sucks donkey dick so ya yugioh is for children just like pokemon. Magic rules and is more complicated.

I'll admit a majority of Yugioh fans are completely faggot ass little kids who ruin the game, and the cartoon show feeds off that and is equally as retarded, but Yugioh the TCG was actually aimed towards teens, and it can be fun at times although I prefer Magic they both have merits in there own right, I suppose Yugioh is more aimed towards anime fans, whereas Magic is aimed more towards World of Warcraft or Everquest fans.

That may have been true in the 80s and 90s but the "nerds" (I hate using that word.. but only word I can think off.. I am a nerd too so no hatin here) of today are more inclined towards mmorpg gaming etc, imo they have token the place of dnd, (WoW everquest Lotr etc) I think magic and yugioh are still going somewhat strong but mmos have defiantly taken the market by storm.

The fact is kids and adults are going to be attracted to games that are popular in their area. For example in Durham if you play magic you get picked on or even thrown out of card shops. But if you go to Elizabeth City not but 3 hours away its the opposite. I've seen many immature people and kids play magic and yugioh. Both are great games and full of strategy and personally I love them both. They each bring something different to the table.

I play both magic and yugioh and I can say they are both strategic in their own way. YGO has really evolved since LOB and has gone form highest ATK wins to ATK don't mean jack squat.

Player of all card games that i can get my hands on here.... Yes i agree magic is advanced and harder somewhat to play but there is a but!! yugioh on the packaging is age6 and up actually... the only down side is all the crappy copie catting out there and net decking ..From people who just wan't to win. people steal cheat and whatever to get the cards at the big stuff n sell it off, Personally i always choose to make random decks that others don't i will never use one of the populars...

Im a Magic player and im not gonna dis on yugioh, but imo magic is more challenging, its alot more fun, and most(not all) of the players are adults. Now with yugioh, the card game is pretty strait forward a half retarded monkey could play they game. Yugioh is a good game if you want to play with a bunch of 10 year olds. And if you wand to be competitive in it, then all you have to do is make the same god damn cookie cutter cull shit that everyone else plays with. theres my 2 cents.

bottom line is, yugioh has younger and USUALLY (not all the time) more imature players, it also has good ass cards that a collecter spent ALOT of money on only to for it Banned the next week, yugioh players always ( in my time i have only seen about 4 original decks) use the same BS decks as everyone else, Magic has older players who some may say are douchebags, as for them being childish, Magic is a highly social game, its only natural to act a bit childish every once in a while during a game

there can be people who want to make the most popular decks, and their annoying copying other people. I've been copied about 3 times, and I must say it gets annoying. Its usually the little kids that copy. The adults that play have original and often insane decks.(most of them)

1- magic dont have a cartoon 4 children, and its yet the most played card game in the world, yugi started with cartoon, since it didnt sell very well at the beginning
2- magic is way more advanced in its strategy, and more mathematic(wanna beleive or not is ur choise)
