The original Voltron, which was based of a Japanese Anime called GoLion, was good old, traditional 2-D animation. The one you're thinking of was Voltron: The Third Dimension, which was made in CG and set as a sequel to the original.

The can-can mouse scene did sound like a psychotic episode, by the princess. Their planet of scientists might need some help from the planet of psychiatrists. That's correct in the American sense that Voltron outdates the Power Rangers. Those are the times they came out here. However, it's the other way around in Japan. Super Sentai is the origins of the Power Rangers while Voltron is known as GoLion in Japan. Super Sentai was around since the 70's while GoLion was around in the very early 80's. While the two are different, they in turn have many things in common. I'm pretty sure the two are of the same genre in Japan.

I thought it was funny how the intro claims they were sent to bring back Voltron. Voltron was simply located on the planet they happened to be passing by. They weren't even sent to that planet.
What''s more, at the beginning of this episode, the King claims that the Robeast failed to destroy Voltron. Dude, he was totally winning. The last episode ended on a cliff hanger, and that was it.

Sven dies or disappears later in the series, and the princess joins the voltron force. Keith takes over the black lion, and I think the princess takes red.
In Voltron, Sven doesn't die, and Keith has always been in Black Lion. In Ep. three His used Green lion until they could find the missing key.
Later when Sven leaves, Princess Allura takes over blue. The Uniforms are comfusing but since Voltron is based on Sentai and Keith is Leader, he has red but contorls black.
in the japanese version he died and the guy that comes back is his brother or cusin or something i did know that either, until i googled it, on youtube there is a copy of the full death scene and funeral
:) I followed this series when it was still subtitled.. a lot of detail got removed. There's a fair time period between when they crash on Arus and when they fly 'em. Plus, they were trained according to the legends.
Oh, and to the earlier comment, the Uniforms are magical.

Doesn't anyone think it was strange that every Robeast allowed the Lions to form Voltron? Maybe its just me. Still love this show though.

lol they do that in all these types of shows. DBZ they stand there while the good guys power up.. I do rememebr in one episode of Tundercats everybody just jumped Lion-o when he tried to uesd the sword of omen.

i love Voltron (From Lion to 3rd Dimension) but what irk me is that pilots didn't match the color of their lions. Like Keith is red but he pilots black lion

I thought it was funny how the intro claims they were sent to bring back Voltron. Voltron was simply located on the planet they happened to be passing by. They weren't even sent to that planet.
What''s more, at the beginning of this episode, the King claims that the Robeast failed to destroy Voltron. Dude, he was totally winning. The last episode ended on a cliff hanger, and that was it.

Sven dies or disappears later in the series, and the princess joins the voltron force. Keith takes over the black lion, and I think the princess takes red.

In Voltron, Sven doesn't die, and Keith has always been in Black Lion. In Ep. three His used Green lion until they could find the missing key.
Later when Sven leaves, Princess Allura takes over blue. The Uniforms are comfusing but since Voltron is based on Sentai and Keith is Leader, he has red but contorls black.

in the japanese version he died and the guy that comes back is his brother or cusin or something i did know that either, until i googled it, on youtube there is a copy of the full death scene and funeral

:) I followed this series when it was still subtitled.. a lot of detail got removed. There's a fair time period between when they crash on Arus and when they fly 'em. Plus, they were trained according to the legends.
Oh, and to the earlier comment, the Uniforms are magical.

i like how The bad guy called them "voltron Force" right after the princess's dude said "from this day forth you 5 shall be known as Voltron force" I guess news travels fast in outerspace.

that makes sense though cause if one is as big as an arm or leg then when he forms they will be arm or leg size to the robeast, plus the black one is bigger and he forms the whole body
