too easy for tua! he was a very good fighter, on the verge of being an all time great! Its always a what if thos court battles didn't happen. you the man to me dave, kiwi through and through:)
can't believe this guy has never been champ... great chin and devastating left hook and overhand right. He's crushed in a few seconds so called champions Ruiz and Moorer and beat two decent champions like Rahman and Maskaev...
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer was taken to a mental hospital Monday after he threatened to kill himself during an argument with his girlfriend.
Moorer, a two-time champion, had been drinking at a friend's house before he went home and started an argument with his girlfriend, Maria George, she told police.
@carlitoboxing7 Wasn't a prime Moorer?? That's an understatement!
This was 2002!! Moorer was a fat, decrepit, recovering alcoholic, suicidal, former mental patient.......you might as well put Muhammad Ali in there! haha!!
hahaha!! Moorer would of completely schooled David Tua (Chris Byrd style) or just ko'd him, David Tua is nothing more than a BUM, even feather-fisted Monte Barrett nearly ko'd him! Tua's claim to fame is beating a has been and had to CHEAT to beat FELLOW BUM Hasim Rahman!
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward moorer was already a bum, even in his prime he was knocked the fuck out by a slow, old foreman. moorer was a glass chin, in addiction
@carlitoboxing7 Moorer completely battered Foreman, Foreman didn't win a single round!
Moorer stood in front of Foreman and went for the finish, Foreman used his experience to drop an exhausted Moorer.
Moorer was a bum? Depends who you compare him to??......His resume is 1000x better than the fat bum David Tua haha, he can't even beat a PENSIONER called Monte Barrett.
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward moorer is a well known glass jaw, he would have lost to tua in every single moment of his career. David right now is overweight and old and this makes him very slow but not even this version of tua would lose to moorer, I guarantee you that. No competition
@carlitoboxing7 This version of Moorer was an alcoholic former mental patient who was a bum at this stage of his career. David Tua has always been a bum......His boxing record clearly demonstrates this
He lost the title to Holyfield in a brutal rematch, floored five times and summarily finished, it seemed, as a top contender in 1997. After ballooning up to a reported 275 pounds, and having a drinking problem, Moorer seemed finished. But he returned in 2000 and has since fought five times, with four victories and a no-contest against journeyman comp.
@Sergeianism1917 I agree with your assessment of Tua, although there have been many other very underachieving boxers. Buster Douglas, for example, who only shined once. Tim Witherspoon comes to mind. Michael Moorer in his prime was often an underachiever. Post-Rooney/D'Amato Tyson (Tyson himself has admitted that). Gerry Cooney, although IMHO in his case there wasn't a whole lot anyway other than a pretty good left.
So sad to see Tua no longer has that killer instinct as he did then. As his last few fights show, he also has lost some of his punching power and lightning speed too. I guess age and perhaps personal issues may have something to do with it. All the best to him and hopefully he gets with someone that can manage him well enough to make some decent money out of the ring for the sake of his family. One of those great individuals that made one feel proud to be Samoan.
Fuckin Klitscho brothers are scared of the Tuamanator thats right cause he is GODs hitman and you know what i mean no fear never down. Why its just a game were rich people pay money to entertain .So all Klitscho fans and pussies suck my knuckles and eat my fist.SAMOA NEVA DOWN,chooooooooooooooo.UFA.
when tua steps up in class he gets put down...its a size thing heavyweights, good ones that have reach or height on tua usually expose him but i love tua a monster of a fighter
Thats what happens when you stand in front of a Enraged samoan midget on steroids!
Tua was a straight ahead power puncher that couldn't handle a jab and movement. Anytime he had to fight a good boxer he got owned.
In a real fight, he would be a beast- in a boxing ring he was a slow, methodical, and flat footed punching bag that never could beat the champions of the division!
@beckynutt75 thats atrange comign from someone who has never boxed in your life....Tua at his best was a beast with quick short solid punches and also threw a ton of them
@CombatSportsFan are you kidding me?!!! Holyfeild and Moorer fought a chess match, as soon a Moorer took those body shots from Tua he couldnt move, different kind of power and fighter.

@JoeCalzagheTheCoward this is true but even if Tua would of fought Moorer at his prime Moorer was a champion no one can take that from him but still he was not a big talent he still would've got rocked by Tua
EVERY TIME David Tua has fought a decent fighter in their PRIME, he has been beaten...........easily.........particularly by tricky southpaws such as Chris Byrd!
Bofore his alcohol problems outside of the ring, Moorer was in shape and a tricky southpaw, he completely outboxed George Foreman until he got careless when he didn't need to late in the fight. His style also befuddled and excellent technical boxer in Holyfield
But it IS TUA'S FAULT that he and his handlers have "selected" an OVERWEIGHT RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC + FORMER MENTAL PATIENT ON HEAVY MEDICATION such as Michael Moorer so that he can PAD HIS RECORD!
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Yes, Moorer was Tua's inferior. Nevertheless, it was a good move on Tua's part for though Moorer was no longer a legit contender, he was still a good name opponent for Tua to elevate his career. Boxers do that all the time.
@93stormer A bit like Lennox Ldewis, Danny Williams and Kevin McBride did against another washed up, drug addict, and alcoholic with mental health problems called erm......Mike Tyson
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward And John Ruiz? Tua put guys out hard like nobody else did. No getting around that. He could be outboxed by a strong fighter, but he was dangerous for anyone.
@MADMAC572 David Tua was 225lbs when he caught John Ruiz cold, he BALLOONED in weight to 245lbs when he fought Lennox Lewis (peaking at 251lbs) making a heavyweight of his small stature virtually useless against to-level heavyweights because of the extra aerobic demands placed on his body. Same thing happened to Dwight Muhammad Qawi blowing up in weight, check the george Foreman fight....Qawi was winning the fight until he punched himself out
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Ruiz wasn't a great figher, but he was a very good one with a good chin. Nobody did to him what Tua did. Tua had great, Tyson like explosive power. I think there are two reasons why Tua doesn't carry that extra weight well. The first is as you said, it's adding aerobic demands on his system. The second is it's an indicator that his aerobic conditioning isn't very good in the first place - that he hasn't trained and prepared well.
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward As for Qawi, he was a fearsome light heavy who went toe to toe with a young, very strong, prime Holyfield. I loved that guy. But he had no business at heavyweight. He was flat out too small to fight there. Talented fighter though.
@MADMAC572 Dwight Qawi was 5"6 and blobbed from 190lbs (Holyfield rematch 1987) to 222lbs against Foreman in 1988-Likewise, David Tua was 5"9 and regularly weighed 240-251lbs for his fights (245lbs vs Lewis) so both fighters are basically asking to be beaten due to total lack of conditioning
Tua has done virtually nothing of any significance since the late 90's, he was merely fighting a ghost of Michael Moorer there for the pay-day, I don't know why people rate this performance?
David Tua there won´t be been world champion , but he has won a lot of them. Hasimh Rahman, Michael Moorer, John Ruiz, Olev Maskaev.... and by KO. Tua wasn´t lucky with their teams, simply.
NONE OF THE TITLE HOLDERS OTHER THAN LENNOX LEWIS WOULD DARE FIGHT DAVID TUA.. FEAR OF LOSING BY KNOCKOUT .. EVEN LEWIS WAS WARY OF TUA'S POWER.. BUT HE HAD THE BALLS TO CALL TUA OUT BEFORE HE RETIRED .. DONT YOU MISS THE DAYS OF TYSON, HOLYFEILD, LEWIS, AND ALL THOSE OTHER REAL FIGHTERS.. REAL MEN THAT TESTED THEMSELVES WITH THE BEST FIGHTERS OUT THERE.. THOSE WERE THE DAYS I RECKON.. NOT LIKE TODAYS PAPER CHAMPIONS.. POOFTERS WITH BLING ON THEIR WAIST..
HOW THE FUCK THIS GUY HAS NOT BEEN A WORLD CHAMPION IS BEYOND ME................. HE HAS ONLY HAD ONE OPPORTUNITY AT THE TITLE..................... THIS IS A DISGRACE
I won't knock Moorer. His chin was never that great and he did win the title from Holyfield. Tua....one of the best heavyweights who never won the belt. I like Tua but he never was as great as I would have thought.
They should have propped Moorer up and let the fight continue so he could take more of a beatdown. I bet Moorer claims that Tua was lucky too. Moorer always cried like a bitch when he lost.
Tua couldn't beat Barrett and was lucky to walk away from that fight with a draw. Tua is a no.2 fighter by some farcical ranking system that shows nothing of boxing ability.
@BeyondDestiny TYSON WAS GREAT IN HIS PRIME BUT NEVER FOUGHT ANY BODY WORTH MENTIONING....HE LOST TO JAMES BUSTER DOUGLAS, THEN TWICE TO HOLYFIELD AND GOT KNOCKED OUT BY LENNOX LEWIS WHO WENT THE DISTANCE WITH DAVID...TUA AND TYSON WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT....PLUS TUA HAS NEVER BEEN KNOCKED OUT
@TheKasinoplayer tua doesn't fight for HBO/WBC like tyson did. Tua isn't ready for the big leagues.. and tyson only lost to those guys after he fired his lifetime trainer, resulting in less head movement and lack in accuracy. tyson is still the youngest ever to be heavyweight champion of the world (winning the title at 20 years young). trust me, watch tysons career documentary and you'll believe me. he was THE best at the time. fuck a "lennox lewis". they beat him when he was past his prime
@BeyondDestiny TUA HAS FOUGHT 4 HW CHAMPIONS, HASIM RAHMAN, MICHAEL MOORE, OLEG MAKAEV, JOHN RUIZ IN HIS PRIME AND MANY MORE....ALL OF THESE GUYS GOT KNOCKED OUT
@TheKasinoplayer except lewis, in the one time that it mattered... Tua was awesome, he could have been a world champion if he hadnt taken his shot against lewis, any other fighter in the era could have fallen to him... good heart to take on the best though.
Tua is ranked #2 in WBO rankings at the moment so it would be good to see another fight with him goin for the title soon by the way that was the first time tua was knocked down by anyone in the barret fight cmiller, its common knowledge now that he had an injured shoulder during that fight, supposedly theres gonna be a rematch with monte barrett in march.
i dont get why it sez can u beleave moorer was a champ this is him after like 15 years as a pro and like a 4 time champ thats like saying can u beleave m.spinks was once a champ after tyson destroyed him spinks and moore were both great but were both naturals light heavys who done great goin up2 heavys
tua right now doesnt have it any more.yea you still have 2 respect his left hook.but guys like the klitchoz and haye are just 2 much 4 him nowdays.a young tua in this era would have knocked out every one.2 bad the heavy w division is gone down.
@hearns00001 nah I dont believe he could beat either klitschko.. they are just to tall, 6'7/8 against 5'11 with their defensive boring skills they would easily outbox tua, and because of their height i dont believe tua could land his left or his overhand right
@reubenw59 the height issue is a lot bigger than that... David is more like 5'8" He is a very small guy so you can only imagine what sort of power he would have had if he were scaled up to 5'11" amazing achievement just the same for him.
@torr5962 Cause Tua was overrated. His combinations and power were thrilling to watch and his chin was durable but the rest was shit! All Lewis did was to oubox him and stay the distance, not something lewis would have gotten away with against a classic 1988 tyson.
Moorer was pretty much washed up at this point in his career...I'm not saying he would have beaten Tua, but a younger Moorer would have made it a more competitive fight.
I've analysed alot of boxing videos, and as much as I'd hate to admit this Mike would have a very hard time with this man, because hes got a very solid chin and heavy build.
Tyson has speed on Tua, but his speed is early on with tyson loosing steam as the fights progresses, both are presssure fighters and Tua always has a punchers luck.
If Tyson does not get frustrated or loose steam and get caught with a right hand from tua, he can beat him but only on points. non will knock out each other.
@aky19832001 No one can beat Mike in his day not even David, and I know David in person. Mike is the GREATEST EXCITING K.O BOXER EVER IN HISTORY.wen he got older its the same senario, you gonna get ur ass kicked one day
@liberal185...& u would not say that 2 TUA in person like a BITCH..."strength dont mean anything???"...fuck outta here & throw a dress on like a BITCH u are fuck boy
@NOSNITCHROUNDHERE, damn, are you retarded or something? Do you know how to write proper English? Learn how to fucking quote people you little bitch, "strength don't mean nothing...IF YOU CAN'T FIND SOMETHING TO HIT". Tua was never able to tag Lewis, so go learn some boxing and stop being an internet warrior, how old are you like 12 or 13?
@liberal185 yeh Tua only knocks out guys with Bad Defense after seeing Monte Barrett knockdown Tua his become a laughing stock i cant believe some people think Tua would actully beat the Klitschko brothers
@iandear, i meant put down like a bitch like he never let tua get any momentum and kept him at bay with his jab, it was a dull fight since tua doesnt even know how to get around a jab. he has the heart, but he was a blatant puncher at best

@yorgishmorgis im a big fan of both sports but mma use 4oz gloves david tua cud knock down a building with 4oz gloves, so thats why they cant take too many shots
@doublesk1 Atleast when Tua was getting dominated he didnt bite peoples ears or result to other dirty tactics, Tua kept the pressure on and came with the late kos. Tua is a down to earth peoples man. One word to describe Tyson is psycho. It is obvious why Tua has many fans
@colbycheese3 Thats why tyson declined after leaving the damato camp in 1988.Tyson had the same discipline and moorer the bum would have faced the same defeat in 1 round had it been tyson instead of tua.The styles were always perfect for the short powerhouses over moorer.Joe Frazier would have destroyed Moorer.

bnsaints 3 months ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward It's not Tua's fault Moorer screwed up his life...
93stormer 3 months ago
@93stormer True.....
But it IS TUA'S FAULT that he and his handlers have "selected" an OVERWEIGHT RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC + FORMER MENTAL PATIENT ON HEAVY MEDICATION such as Michael Moorer so that he can PAD HIS RECORD!
Think about it???
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 3 months ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Yes, Moorer was Tua's inferior. Nevertheless, it was a good move on Tua's part for though Moorer was no longer a legit contender, he was still a good name opponent for Tua to elevate his career. Boxers do that all the time.
93stormer 3 months ago
@93stormer A bit like Lennox Ldewis, Danny Williams and Kevin McBride did against another washed up, drug addict, and alcoholic with mental health problems called erm......Mike Tyson
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 3 months ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward And John Ruiz? Tua put guys out hard like nobody else did. No getting around that. He could be outboxed by a strong fighter, but he was dangerous for anyone.
MADMAC572 2 months ago
@MADMAC572 David Tua was 225lbs when he caught John Ruiz cold, he BALLOONED in weight to 245lbs when he fought Lennox Lewis (peaking at 251lbs) making a heavyweight of his small stature virtually useless against to-level heavyweights because of the extra aerobic demands placed on his body. Same thing happened to Dwight Muhammad Qawi blowing up in weight, check the george Foreman fight....Qawi was winning the fight until he punched himself out
John Ruiz?? = Famous for beating a shot Holyfield
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 2 months ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Ruiz wasn't a great figher, but he was a very good one with a good chin. Nobody did to him what Tua did. Tua had great, Tyson like explosive power. I think there are two reasons why Tua doesn't carry that extra weight well. The first is as you said, it's adding aerobic demands on his system. The second is it's an indicator that his aerobic conditioning isn't very good in the first place - that he hasn't trained and prepared well.
MADMAC572 2 months ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward As for Qawi, he was a fearsome light heavy who went toe to toe with a young, very strong, prime Holyfield. I loved that guy. But he had no business at heavyweight. He was flat out too small to fight there. Talented fighter though.
MADMAC572 2 months ago
@MADMAC572 Dwight Qawi was 5"6 and blobbed from 190lbs (Holyfield rematch 1987) to 222lbs against Foreman in 1988-Likewise, David Tua was 5"9 and regularly weighed 240-251lbs for his fights (245lbs vs Lewis) so both fighters are basically asking to be beaten due to total lack of conditioning
Tua has done virtually nothing of any significance since the late 90's, he was merely fighting a ghost of Michael Moorer there for the pay-day, I don't know why people rate this performance?
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 2 months ago
Tua is a powerful puncher. I don't kno why moorer even got in the ring with him with his glass jaw like he can take a punch.lol

Tua had serious power, but lacked the skills and considering he was a short heavyweight his chances to become champion were greatly diminished by it.

David Tua was a BUM, this version of Moorer was an alcoholic former mental hospital patient who had been out of boxing 3 years.

Even in his late 30s, i Think Tua could still win a big match sometime soon.

@BeyondDestiny TYSON WAS GREAT IN HIS PRIME BUT NEVER FOUGHT ANY BODY WORTH MENTIONING....HE LOST TO JAMES BUSTER DOUGLAS, THEN TWICE TO HOLYFIELD AND GOT KNOCKED OUT BY LENNOX LEWIS WHO WENT THE DISTANCE WITH DAVID...TUA AND TYSON WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT....PLUS TUA HAS NEVER BEEN KNOCKED OUT
TheKasinoplayer 1 year ago
@TheKasinoplayer tua doesn't fight for HBO/WBC like tyson did. Tua isn't ready for the big leagues.. and tyson only lost to those guys after he fired his lifetime trainer, resulting in less head movement and lack in accuracy. tyson is still the youngest ever to be heavyweight champion of the world (winning the title at 20 years young). trust me, watch tysons career documentary and you'll believe me. he was THE best at the time. fuck a "lennox lewis". they beat him when he was past his prime

@hearns00001 nah I dont believe he could beat either klitschko.. they are just to tall, 6'7/8 against 5'11 with their defensive boring skills they would easily outbox tua, and because of their height i dont believe tua could land his left or his overhand right
reubenw59 1 year ago
@reubenw59 the height issue is a lot bigger than that... David is more like 5'8" He is a very small guy so you can only imagine what sort of power he would have had if he were scaled up to 5'11" amazing achievement just the same for him.
bombertheelephant 8 months ago
@hearns00001 he got put on his ass by monte barrett, klischkos would beat him to death by round 3

Tua couldnt do anything against Lennox. I mean zero. How do you come to the fight of your life heavy and lethargic?
torr5962 8 months ago
@torr5962 Cause Tua was overrated. His combinations and power were thrilling to watch and his chin was durable but the rest was shit! All Lewis did was to oubox him and stay the distance, not something lewis would have gotten away with against a classic 1988 tyson.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
Moorer was pretty much washed up at this point in his career...I'm not saying he would have beaten Tua, but a younger Moorer would have made it a more competitive fight.

Iv only heard of david tua cuz of family guy. Cant be that good
MrFoofan 1 year ago
I've analysed alot of boxing videos, and as much as I'd hate to admit this Mike would have a very hard time with this man, because hes got a very solid chin and heavy build.
Tyson has speed on Tua, but his speed is early on with tyson loosing steam as the fights progresses, both are presssure fighters and Tua always has a punchers luck.
If Tyson does not get frustrated or loose steam and get caught with a right hand from tua, he can beat him but only on points. non will knock out each other.
aky19832001 1 year ago
@aky19832001 No one can beat Mike in his day not even David, and I know David in person. Mike is the GREATEST EXCITING K.O BOXER EVER IN HISTORY.wen he got older its the same senario, you gonna get ur ass kicked one day
