It's too bad that it took half the season for the show to fall into the formula of the old series. If season 2 took that direction the show would have been great. The Mustang is just a boring car and doesn't have the "wow" factor that the 3rd gen Trans Am had in the early 80s. Even stock the 82 TA is a stunner. I'm a huge original series fan, I have a replica, but I think the new show could have been something if given the chance.

The new version of Knight Rider is revamped, updated and modernised, and if you grew up with the original one, how would you like it if the car was, say, a Ford Model T? You can't use the old car in the new series, it's not about what was around when the first series came out!
The Mustang GT was a horrible choice for the new KITT. The old Trans Am was sleek, low to the ground, and so slim. The GT carries so much unnecessary muscle and raw power which was never what KR was about.
IMO they should've went with something like a Dodge Viper. Would've worked so much better.
The old KITT was so much tougher. He could not be turned off by just saying it, disabled by an EMP grenade, or harmed by a missile. The Mustang's look however does kick his ass

Remember, the original KITT was supposed to be a Datsun anyways (which was bought out by Nissan). So it doesn't have to be an American maker, as it wasn't going to originally be one anyways.

I was looking at classic knight rider vids and stumbled upon this mess. A mustang as the new knight rider... Is this a joke? It's like having a 007 movie only to have Johnny English play the role of 007. It's just plain wrong, but it can be funny.

@C06coolvette why not a mustang ? in the 80's they picked one of the hottest cars to play kitt and that was a trans am now it was 2008 and they wanted to pick one of the hottest cars of this time to play kitt and thats the mustang ...when a show is new you don't want the same old shit ...if they would have got a trans am to play kitt and the same old dash and stuff then what would have been so new about it ..it would have been like watching the old one on DVD if the new one was like that

No it's not. They should have used a real sports car like a GT40 or a Viper. Any Mustang is a heavy pig of a car broseph. I mean even a Saleen S7 would have been a better knight rider. Of all american muscle cars they chose the little pony that couldn't make it through knight rider. Don't get me wrong I like the gt500 mustangs but come on, It's performance is whack for 79k. pay a lil more for a Z06, Viper or GT-R and you're set to go! gt500kr is a collectible tho

@johnmadden74 come on man you kidding me ..you call that kitt mustang a pony ? i don't think a car with 500 horse power is a pony and that is factory if you stocked that mustang nothing could touch it ..and this car ain't just a gt 500 its a shelby gt500 kr and from what i heard the man shelby don't put his name on just any car if you see the name shelby on a car then its a car ..and there was only so many of they shelbys made and the kitt car was the first one off the line thats awesome

A couple of parts were passed in Hungary already from this new Knight Riderl. It is needed was cosier in order for me to say that the old right was. The old series had mood, the old cement much more human, was more personal. Vainly machine, human characteristics appeared in his speech for example in the old one after all. I find this new cement so impersonal somehow.all of the series work like that. I vote for the old one with a word :)! I welcome everybody from Hungary :) !
