Thomas Jefferson began building Monticello before he went to France. He was living there when elected President. Both he and his wife died there & he is buried in a family plot on the grounds. When he died, he was deeply in debt & everything was sold (including the slaves) to pay the debt. The burial plot was not included in the sale. I have been there twice & it's always beautiful, no matter what time of year it is. I couldn't take pictures, so thanks for posting these.
the grass is greener and all that... I'm from Southern California and currently back again, but I've lived in Japan, a place in Africa, Virginia and Florida. I kind of miss Virginia though. But one thing I've learned is that there are some awesome places close to home. There's some nice cheap country in Oregon I hear.
Why isn't the bloodline claiming stake in this property> I am talking about the Blacks he had brought into this world. I would need "in" on those paid tours and few of those antiques and some silver utensils.
they got like 14 weed plants growing in the garden, you can see them on the tour,, thomas jefferson and a few other presidents grew herb, and george washington was the 13'th president
did thomas jefferson ever live in the white house or did he make himself an exception and stay here instead? or did he live here before/after being president?
I live in Texas, and i am entering 8th grade this year. Our prinibal has a awesome program called the "School away from school trip". Its were we travel throuhg texas, all the way through the 12 colonies up to NYC, and then back. While in Virginia we visit monticello. My friend said it was awesome. But im more excited to see New York =D
I used to be a house and plantation life guide while I was at UVA and there is a book of these exact photos. I'm assuming they were simply compiled into a video. The family owns a copywrite to 75% of the houses items so that's why there is no photos allowed by the general public in the house.

Great video! How were you able to get these pictures of the inside of the house? Is there some way you can take them inside now?
