Those girls chirped for real. This was done long before patti got her nose done. Fierce. Underrated is not the word. Not many girls back then, if any or here and now, that can touch Labelle. They sang for real. Love it.

Oh yeah, I forgot "sassy". This performance embodies that independent, "I-do-and-say-what-I-wanna" snap not prevalent in 70's R&B by females especially. It made LaBelle so edgy & unique. They did it consistently. This clip is a perfect example! Thanx again. On another, the acapella, staggered ending reminds me of Patti & the Sweeties singing "How Great Thou Art" (live) back in the late 80's. It kills... they did it completely acapella & totally on Patti's vocal command -powerful yet impeccable!

OMG!!! That was ASTOUNDING... so raw, so gritty, so vintage and yet there are so many "Pattisms" there as well, many of which are very present with her today. Amazing harmony, incredible energy.  The fusion of rock, funk and even a strong gospel (holy ghost) by LaBelle is so signature and no better demonstrated than here. This is old footage but brand new to me... THANK YOU ever so much for posting. It (you) made my day!
