@uktransplantedyank So you're saying that electronic beats means something's pop. You need to listen to what is coming out of the US charts. Like a G6/ Black Eyed Peas etc - thats horrible electronic music and throwaway vocals. I dont like to make presumptions but I dare say you're one of those people who thinks all electronic music is utter crap. By the way Garage was one of the most popular underground genre's of the 90's in the US, and the UK. In the US it's still v popular along with House.

Not quite, but I certainly underestimated your intelligence - my mistake.

That said, I'm not saying all electronic beats are pop, just that what I've experienced of garage is pop, this bad cover of a classic Andy Williams tune included. If I listen to electronica, I prefer Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, or Brian Eno - they have more substance and offer something original, whereas garage seems rather dull, plodding and unoriginal in comparison.

And good for you, you just named 3 of the most obvious pioneers in electronic music. I suppose you believe you've proven your taste in electronic music to be more grown up and a little more 'serious' now that you've these painfully obvious names lol. Garage is an offshot of house, therefore, it isn't plodding, its groovy!

I've experienced enough "Garage" to know that I don't like the genre. So what I mentioned "obvious influences"? I like them better than this stuff. I don't have to prove a single thing to you - I was giving you my honest opinion, which you obviously can't handle.

Funny, you spent a lot of time attempting to berate me for my opinion. To be honest, I'm not bothered about your opinion either, majority or minority (neither matters, really). If you have to validate your opinion by using the bandwagon fallacy, then that's not my problem. I don't base my opinion on whether it's popular - I have different criteria.

@uktransplantedyank I said nothing about bangwagon'ing. If you actually looked at my profile and the music I upload you'll see i'm no sheep or have anything to do with bandwagon. I don't follow 'popular' music. That's why I like House, Garage and other more 'underground' genres etc, because it isn't hugely popular and will therefore keep its credibility and never have to conform to a certain style of sound or have to appeal to a commercial market.

I have to laugh at our dialogue.  All this started because I quite bluntly stated my preference for the Andy Williams version of "Can't Get Used to Losing You" 7 months ago and you picked up on it recently because you didn't like it. Seriously, drop the subject already, man.
