  • When Chet Atkins use the words "hero" and "legendary" you know you're in the presence of a virtuoso guitar player. It's very unfortunate that Lenny got killed when he had so much more music to give to the world. Being a drug addict, I think there was a contract on his head for unpaid drug debt but that's just my opinion.

  • u cant hide mozart lol

  • Fuk you moron....some peaople are idiots and you a filling those shoes real well.

  • @GPHawk1 I was looking through my posts and found this...how weird because I never made this comment and it doesn't even make sense in context to the discussion....

  • Very cool video. Love their take on Sweet Georgia Brown.

  • Thanks for this!!!!

  • the visuals look like they were shot by the predator. the mike placement sucks. these two masters deserve our very best.

  • the predator ROCKS

  • That's CGP "Certified Guitar Player". He used it in his signature like MBA or PHD. He really had a sense of humor.

  • These guys are both great, but I'm particularly fond of Lenny Breau. Check out the post-Coltrane diminished pattern Chet lays down in the intro of Sweet Georgia Brown. For a guy who called himself "CGP" (country guitar picker), he was a very worldly and sophisticated musician. Don't you miss these guys?!

  • Miss them dearly. Awesome musicians. These two were so close. Chet talked about Lenny so fondly. Like a son.

  • Who cares...just listen to the music and enjoy!

  • no I don't and its all opinion and to myself: shut up!!

  • idiot

  • I meant me.

  • all of the players listed are good in their own right. I'm sick of people comparing guitar players. It's like apples to oranges.

  • Pears RULE!!!!!

  • Chet's time is considerably better.

  • Sunderlanding lenny is the most difficult style and the best but if you watch these 3 shows you'll admit Dannys playing ranks with anyone:88 Birchmere, 88 Club Soda, and 88 Gallaghers. mastercollector

  • watching the video makes me feel like i did drugs

  • what raw talent!

  • what are harp harmonics?

  • Lenny Breau did do drugs but thats not how he died he was murdered over them.

  • No you are wrong, Lenny was strangled by his wife also no traces of drugs were found in his body. Even his 7 string guitar was not stolen so his death had nothing to do with money or drugs. You should get your facts straight before posting something like that.

  • he wasn't murdered over drugs--his 2nd wife strangled him...

  • Danny Gatton's song "One For Lenny" on his Antholgy CD is my favorite on that whole album..and there's a LOT of great music on that CD!

  • kenwellz Danny Gatton, and Lenny Breau played the Cellar Door in DC 4-25-79; its great.Gatton is easily the most spectacular player ever and not even close. And he's not my faveorite but Breau, Scotty Anderson, and Wes could be the best.mastercollector

  • Danny Gatton once told me that Lenny Breau was his hero!

  • drugs did not kill lenny, however "life" strangled him way too early. life, wife uhh what's the difference?

  • It is too bad lenny got into the drugs. He was very highly regarded by jazz, classical, country players. His mastery of harmony could humble the most accomplished jazz players.

  • Muzikman74, theres NOTHING to be sorry about this 5th generation peice...the sound of 2 masters creating music together is there its a shame not many people know about lenny even to this day.

  • Chet and Lenny doing Sweet Georgia Brown is the song that inspired Tommy Emmanuel to start with his own version of harp harmonics... THANKS FOR SAVING THIS AND SHARING IT... definite history on film! :-)

  • 6:58 is a good example of the harp harmonics... Lenny was a true guitar pioneer... too bad drugs got hold of him, no telling how good he would be today! :-(

  • you're absolutely correct! It's funny, I'm just learning TE's version of "somewhere over the rainbow", aww man, it's rare to hear something so beautiful...

  • Just wonderful! No need to apologize for the quality. I sincerely thank you for posting this and preserving it.

  • Sweet and swingin', very nice.

  • These two were nothing less than Gods..

  • Nothing beats Lenny and Chet!!!

  • I've always wanted to see Lenny Breau play. This is extremely rara footage. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • Nice to see the masters actually play together. Thanks for the video....sweet !

  • Thanks a lot The best duo ever

  • Very nice... I've never seen this clip and I have a BOAT load of rare and unreleased Lenny. Glad to see there's more out there. No need to apologize for the quality. I'm just glad to see the material out there for all to see and hear.

  • How bout you upload some of it mate?

  • The first song is "This Can't be Love."

Does anyone have a better recording of this video?

  • good music

    thanx very much

  • Great musical quality. Fantastic licks from both players. Sweet Georgia Brown is the last song but what is the first?
