'Every Jew is the outcome of 3,311 years to 247 days, 17 hours and 45 minutes of the most amazing history on earth!'
Mark Twain from Harper's magazine, September 1898 - Concerning the Jews:
The Egyptian, the Babylonian, the Persian, the Greek and the Roman - feel the planet with sound! Then faded to dream-stuff and passed away!
Mark Twain concludes: 'The Jew saw them all, beat them all. all things are immortal but the jew... All other forces past but he remains, what is the secret?!'
@markgraf You're such an ignorant dick. According to the story, and as is portrayed in this video, those were jewish babies being killed by egyptians by order of the pharaoh.
@hotgirljen99 So wait a minute...you're telling me it wasn't Egyptian children being killed by God? Here's a direct quote from your Bible: "About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die...There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again." The Jews painted Lamb blood on their doors which effectively told God to PASS OVER their house, hence Passover...and dead Egyptian kids.
@markgraf It seemed that you were commenting on the video.
As to the Bible quote, how can we question His actions? He does what He wants, and we don't have a say. I don't understand how that was justice, and apparently neither do you; but that doesn't change the fact that He did what He did for a purpose.
And if you weren't such an ignorant dick, you would know that the Biblical lesson learned from this story is not rejoice that your enemies are killed - only to rejoice that you are now free.
@hotgirljen99 But the point still remains that you choose to worship a being that has no problem snuffing out little kids. There are many other atrocities in the Bible as well. If God came down and murdered your entire family, you would just be okay with it? I'd rather believe that such a tyrant doesn't exist at all. Richard Dawkins said it best: The God of the Old Testament is truly the most vile villain in all of fiction.
@markgraf Your hypo (killing family etc.) is premised on Him existing and being an almighty ruler. That being the case, it's irrelevant if I'm "ok with that" because He rules the universe and I have no choice but to obey His rules, unless I want to go to Hell. As to the vile villain, consider a hypo: If G has a gun pointed to your head and gives an order, but he killed your family, would you not listen to G because he is a vile villain? Same thing, He is the Ruler so I must obey. Period.
@hotgirljen99 But there is no God pointing a gun at your head. You are free to believe whatever you want to believe. You CHOOSE to believe what you do. There is a world of difference.
@markgraf But that's exactly what 'believing' means. It means that you are not free to believe what you want, because BELIEVING He doesn't exist is completely irrelevant to whether or not He does exist. And when you're dealing with people that do believe He exists and and controls everything, it is very weak to point to things that you don't like about His way of running the world, since once He's in control, our opinions are irrelevant. (BTW, Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion.)
@alaaia82 It's pretty simple Biology (even then I'm not sure if you are talking about evolution or human birthing). I hope that's not what you're getting at. There was nothing intelligent about our "design." It happened through a long process of trial and error. Mostly error.
Wow! to relive such a special moment in jewish history is awe inspiring,to be able to tell this to our children is the greatest miracle of all, because had the jews not been saved by G-od,YOU and I WOULD NOT BE HERE TO TELL IT,we would still be an enslaved nation........THANK YOU RAFI
Have another read of Exodus chapters 7 through 12. It's one of the most appalling stories in literature. God hardens Pharaoh's heart repeatedly, then brings these horrible plagues, then kills the eldest son of EVERY Egyptian household and of their slaves, their prisoners, even their livestock, and all so that he can show off his magical powers. There was not one home without a death. AND God had his people rob the Egyptians before they left. With a god like that, who needs enemies?
we're learning the macos in chumash at the moment and our teacher showed us this in class today. we watched it like 3 times, it was amazing!!! and then i had the song stuck in my head which was a slight downside because i couldnt replace with it anything besdies accapela, but still! amazing!
This video is fantastic and i love how it is set up. The actors are very good and convincing. Thank you.
