  • We all now know the Short Comings of the 5.56x45...

So why hasn't DOD, at least, gone to the 6.8 SPC yet?

  • @psiclonus Because 6.8 SPC isn't that great. They are likely going to contract with AAC and start using .300 Blackout. It can be used in existing AR-platform weapons with a simple barrel change (i.e. money saving upgrade), and has better ballistics performance than 5.56 or 6.8.

  • @SANPH Remington and others already make a killing selling the NATO version of their .223 rifle round, a copper jacketed lead ball firing round, something that will put a clean hole through anyone its shot at, this round is used through-out NATO forces in most of its service rifles, and a few of its machine guns. A round that WILL put anyone it strikes out of the fight, people generally aren't these badasses that can simply shrug off bullets, it doesn't matter what round, just some are louder.

  • @wikieditspam Large rounds are, in general, always going to be a better choice than smaller rounds, for battle rifle applications. And if you can get a larger round will preserving or improving ballistics performance, and minimizing the need to retro-fit existing weapons platforms, you've got yourself a winner.

  • @wikieditspam exactly. I think the whole thing about the .223's stopping power "issues" is over-rated. About the only instance were I believe a larger caliber round would be useful if not necessary for a larger, harder hitting round is in some police/swat groups just because then if you have to stop a desperate guy on meth or speed or heroin, one shot may not do it.

  • @19Kettle93 Funny that you should mention the whole police fighting junkies thing, because it happens sometimes in Afghanistan, and in fact because of that some want to make pistols firing .45acps more prevalent than 9x19s. The .45acp is an old round, one that has old in origin but modernized weapons to fire it with. same thing with the 7.62x51, which is used in most of NATOs battle rifles, that are old in origin but have very good modernized versions.

  • man this gun is only for cherries and fools GIMME AN M14 DAMMIT

  • I love this rifle, because the only two part I changed to make it never jam is the bolt carrier and the A1 chrome bore barrel.

  • the carrying handle is a lie

  • @dawgfacesoldier Why is it a lie? The rifle looks good with it, especially with this version. But, I agree that the raised sight had it's own drill.

  • @1stMarineCapt it was more a joke, in the army whenever anyone carries the weapon by the carrying handle they get called out.

  • @dawgfacesoldier Called out? What for?

  • @1stMarineCapt idk you cant wear your hood with the gortex jacket., until recently you couldn't use your cargo pants. and on top of that you cant carry the weapon by its carrying handle. Its the military its alot of dumb shit

  • @dawgfacesoldier I can only tell ya one thing: I HATE THE ARMY! LONG LIVE THE MARINES!!! OOHHHRA!

  • cool video. when I watch this, I seems that this rifle was designed with the soldiers physical comfort in mind.

  • @bsrman36 yeah, it is comfortable rifle. But jams every single shot :D

  • @SgtZaqq Of course many of the reliability issues are no longer present. It certainly is a nice rifle to shoot. I don't think it's my number one choice for combat but you could certainly do a lot worse.

  • @bsrman36 many issues, but the main issue. Yes, it is a good rifle for civilians, but not for a combat.

  • @SgtZaqq If a nice AR didn't cost so much (doesn't seem to most people anyway) I think it would almost be standard in a gun owning household. It's a great rifle for us civies.

  • @SgtZaqq if you keep it wet, and change parts when they fail, it will never fail you. Look up "filthy 14" on google. over 40,000 rounds through an AR platform with no formal cleaning (only lubrication), and parts when they broke (gas rings, bolt, and carrier). notice that all the parts that broke, would be parts that could be replaced by an armorer in the field. I admit that earlier versions of the ar platform were bad, but if you compare old vs. new, there is a night and day difference.

  • @tippymaster14 If you look up filthy 14 on google, you will see something you will never be able to unsee, not with all the brain bleach in the world.

  • @wikieditspam

if its that bad, then use the search function on arfcom or something
