I'm not suggesting that spending all that money is a good thing or even neccisary but the market gained confidence from the allocation. healthcare today is the same fight that medicare and public education was. with all the wealth of this nation my beliefs remain Fighting shadowy threats is what bankrutped the roman empire and idk about you folks but I dont wanna relive history. The oil age will come to a close, we gonna use what's left of it to retool and leverage for the future or not?
@Ixions42 I think you missed your calling. You would have had a great career producing government propaganda films in the former Soviet Union. According to your writings, the government is what has made America great, not free enterprise. Do you know where "all the wealth of this nation" comes from?
her wealth from her people. A strong democratic capitalist society has an educated populous and doesnt allow her rank to solidify a status quo. The thing is once things are going really good, her people only care about accumulating more power and wealth. car companies stop innovating, premiums go up... industrail war complexes bankrupt you and before you know it you're yesterdays news
@Ixions42 Hoover Dam, TVA, Medicare, Education, Health-care, government-subsidized wind farms, everything you admire and support, including liberal/socialist politicians - is stealing money from taxpayers and distributing it to others via an inefficient and corrupt government system. You also fail to understand economics, and the constitutional principles of freedom, liberty, and limited government.
@Ixions42 Your arguments are still fundamentally flawed. You somehow assume that all the entities you have listed are somehow better because they are under heavy government influence/control. You are deceived by Marxist rhetoric that profit motives are evil and put "profits over people". It is the collusion of government and big business, behind the scenes (fascism), that has created the financial crisis. Like a good liberal, you trust government officials over the people that make America great
I agree with you whole heartedly that fascism is the root of the blame. I don't perscribe to profit motives being evil, but the fascism we see in many places today is. Everyone being able to get some kind of health-care and not worry about it being cancelled or cut off by pre-existing conditions is just the right thing to do. All this talk of the nation falling into socialism because of it, is fear mongering propaganda coming from the fascist run right.
I think this adminstration is doing a lot of good. Especially in education reform and pushing for cleaner energy, and much needed overhaul of infrastructure. The right seems to be re-organizing itself for the better too and throwing out a lot of the bad eggs. You presume to know my core beliefs simply because I voted left this last election but I think you've been a little brainwashed by corporate mass media too. You can't possibly think that people are as polarized as fox or msn say?
@Ixions42 I don't "presume" anything, your positions or "core beliefs" are in writing. By the way, those "clean energy" jobs you are glad the government is "pushing for" so far cost the taxpayer 135,000 dollars for each job, and have produced zero profit and zero clean energy. Meanwhile, millions remain unemployed and on food stamps.
my writings were arguments that shovel ready jobs helped turn unemployment around during the depression and gave us the infrastructure we have today. The rest of my ranting was about the fascism we have in this country today. You've also seemed to skip over my point about the current state of the right convieniently. For someone who's for clean energy your last statements sure seems like you'd be intent on waiting for ford and big oil to get around to it. my friends would argue the profit...
and you argue about the now... sounds like you're looking for a magic wand... Let's look to the right shall we. More tax-cuts, bailouts, and deregulation you say? That'll teach those fascists a thing or two!
One more unethical, corrupt democratic senator down, many more to go! As if he had any chance of re-election anyway. These democrats are hilarious, they are such cowards to try and run for there senatorial seats after voting for the so-called health insurance reform bill which they know is unconstitutional.
what a shame that you people have such hateful disrespectful things to say about people you don't know. labeling someone as liberal or democrat as if all of them think the same just shows how small minded you guys can be. and you honestly think its liberals that are "destroying" America when you spread such hate and intolerance. when will people grow up.
@flightlevel66 Yea, I have several hard working friends who make a living molding turbine blades. One of the few states with a budget surplus, our leadership has been responsibly conservative there. As liberals go he's always been close to center. I've always supported him and @DillonX. It'll depend on who's gonna try take his place. We NEED to start renewable development and we can afford a standard of living where americans dont have to live in fear of getting sick or hurt.
@Ixions42 I'm all for renewables and clean energy. However the libs/dems always make the mistake of thinking if you throw massive amounts of money at something that it will somehow make it a success. There is no such animal as a liberal who is close to the center. If Dorgan were close to the center he would reject the health-care bill. Your state has done well to the credit of fiscally conservative leadership in your state government. Being from the bankrupt northeast, I admire the spirit of ND.
@flightlevel66 I consider myself a left of center independent. we've only spent a tenth of the recovery funds but the threat of the sum has already slowed job loss, banks will want to pay back as soon as possible because of restrictions. shovel ready projects like the TVA and boulder dam project helped us outta the depession and gave use the aged infrastructure we have today. we have the oppurtunity to leverage our future, people need to recognize that it's a time for bold change to Statquo
@Ixions42 The mistake you make is "we have the opportunity to leverage our future". What you fail to understand is this country is "leveraged" to the hilt. What you also fail to grasp from the left is that America is bankrupt, printing money out of thin air, and borrowing from China just to pay a part of our day to day expenses. Medicare? Trillions in debt. Education? Most inefficient system in the world. Your utopian, FDR-esque view that only government can solve problems destroys wealth.
I never said only government can solve problems, plz dont put words in my mouth. We've been printing for a long time and it was a mistake to begin with. I think the innovation and creativity of the people can solve problems. Sec Duncan said this was a great opportunity for reform. You make a case for reform but that takes money. Are you suggesting further entrophy while we save up the money to reform?
Too bad the hard working, down to earth people of ND have felt the need to send this guy to Washington over and over. I hope all the agriculture subsidies and wind turbines (maybe) he obtained for your state were worth it. Dorgan has, like all liberal/socialist/facist democrats trampled the constitution and stuck America with a trillion-dollar health-care bill. Now he can make millions lobbying behind the scenes. Thanks North Dakota!
Yet another fine Democratic son of Satan is leaving his post to reap the unethical rewards of his corrupt tenure in U.S. office. Burn in hell bastard.
Oblama just did what he PROMISED not to do, which is raise taxes for the H/C bill. He's a fucking liar who needs to be done away with, literally! Dems are wrecking America, freedom and our health all in one shot. Get rid of 'em all, every stinkin' one of the lying bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, Obama meant what he said. He was the President of change. He changed the course of his party from growth to rott! Now the rats have no where to hide. LMAO. How many democrats must Obama destroy before people wake up to what this man is doing to his own party, and he did it in one year! Congratulations Obama, Bush could never do what you did in the time you did it in.
Thank God we will finally be rid of this fascist scum of the earth.

yea, so we should re-privatize all of our infrastructure and education system then? more deregulation. Ever heard of Enron?

Sen Dodd retiring in Conn actually helps the Dems & they'll probably retain the Senate seat.
Sen Dorgan retiring in ND is another matters & means the GOP will like get that Senate seat.
