You're going to be one of those guys who ends up in the ER with a sword stuck in your body and when they ask you what happened you are going to embarrassingly have to tell them it was an accident.
say, out of curiosity you wouldnt happen to know a place that makes good scabbards for albions roman styled swords would you? im trying to get a good historically accurate one for an Aquilifer but im having troubles finding a spot, any advice would be greatly appreciated
If you have some money to spare you can google Christian Fletcher scabbards. Other than that, sorry, I can't think of any more scabbard makers at the moment, though I'm pretty sure there are a lot more.
I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work. How taking on some plate armor over a ham leg? Maybe some chainmail over a leg of lamb? You did some heavy leather cutting once in one I remember.
That would definitely be interesting. But plate armor? Chainmail? I would be happy if had enough cash to buy some at all, let alone waste it by hacking and slashing it.
As far as I know, pistol bullets fragment very rarely. Rifle bullets may do so, and they are much more devastating anyway. I have to limit my statement to handgun shots. High powered rifles can really screw a body up.
Of course it also depends on the edged weapon. A rapier would naturally produce a minor wound when compared to a powerful swing with a claymore for instance.
oh.. right, i assumed most modern bullets performed the same way. would .22 rimfire cartridges have hat effect.
regards to edges weapons, spare a thought for people struch with notched E-tool shovels in WW1-2 or bayonnettes or feeling the power of a khukuri or a pioneer/engineers sword of the napoleonic ers, looked like miniture scimitars with serrated backs, imagine taking one of those.
@elgostine your right in that it doesnt seem right. im in the Marine Corps and know alot of about firearms ofcourse as thats a part of my job to train with them. however in most cases, even rifle rounds such as an AK-47 are still not even close to being as devestating as a sword. firearms are effective yes, from a distance primarily. blades will always.."always" reign in close combat. ive also studied filipino martial arts for 16 years now. i know both the blade and the barrel.
@elgostine a firearm that would equal a sword's damage factor, in my opinion would be that of a 50 caliber. at a 50 caliber, the rounds are starting to get big enough and powerful enough to rip a man apart. a sword or knife can cut a man to pieces. the taliban be-head victims all the time with these small little 5-6 inch blades knives, they show us the videos of this stuff all the time in my training classes we have to take. edged weapons are extremley effective.
Well, unfortunately if I would be using a sword against anyone you could be feeling bad for me, too... in Europe you can very easily get in serious trouble with the law if you injure or kill a person with a weapon, even if it's self defense. Quite ridiculous if you ask me but that's the way it is.
Wow, you really look like one of those BlackSmith's in those medieval games. Fat,long Beard and Awsome with Swords!!!

Windlass offers a xiphos. I'd suggest looking for it (and other ancient swords) on kultofathena(dot)com

@GeminiiGuy81
I found it used on Ebay. You can find newer versions on Albion's homepage (albion-swords . com) though.

Is this the standard sharpness with which the sword is delivered? Or did you sharpened it more?

do you make your own leather armor?
zippo360 3 years ago
That was spathtastic! Too bad your government has laws like that. I think I might rather be shot than chopped the fuck up!
MikeofWyoming 3 years ago
Yep, agreed. I guess many gunshot wounds heal easier and faster than muscles and tendons that have been sliced to the bone. *shudders*

that doesnt seem right, a fragmenting 9mm bullet could cause way more injury
