A time before the internet & DVR's when you had to wait with anticipation to see these shows. Everyone watched the same thing & you could discuss it with each other. It was the highlight of the week for kids. Chores had to be done them watch this show with our siblings.

@lbCharmed1 haha. To me there was something about the anticipation of things, it made them special, be it albums, tv shows or movies. Now everyone can just click a button & it's too easy. I hate to sound old, I love the internet but I really miss the simpler times.

Me too. I was 13 that time and I would joined my older brothers watching it on Mon nights right after finishing my homework. @jilajig2 - that isn't Adrian Zmed.  The dark haired male dancer's name is Tony Fields and the red head's name is Alex Cole. Adrian was never a dancer on SOLID GOLD.

THe music has magic.....I rmeember when this first came on, where I lived we only had three local channels, NBC, CBS and PBS. THe NBC affiliate would show HEE HAW at 6 on Sat. nights, THe CBS affiliate started showing Solid Gold. I thought, "Fainally, was getting tired of 'I'm a pickin, I'm a grinnin' "

Wow, at number 19 is "Jesse" by Carly Simon. There's a song I have not heard since back when it was first popular.

Most of the time the singers lip synched but if you were #40 on the year end countdown you sang live because you were the opening number for that show. The Christmas countdown were not lip synched-sung live

oh yeah the 1980's were not flashy and gaudy. (sarcasm) The first song was an Oscar winner!! SG= I loved this show. Ch 31 WUHF in Rochester used to show this on Saturday afternoons. We didn't have cable, so thank god for this show!! And thanx, Charmed, 4 posting this.

what memories! i was just a little kid, but i remember this episode :) It's kinda scary that we're already in 2010. Back than 2010 a way off distant year. I thought cars would be floating in the air just like in the Jetsons. How quickly time flies, how quickly you realize that your youth is fleeting and you're not naive and innocent anymore

Unfortunately no, the show has not been released on DVD. As far as I know there are no current plans to release it (apparently) because of the musical licensing fees that the record labels wlould want to be paid.

Irene Carra, she is such a cutie. I had the biggest crush on her back then when she was in Roots 2. She had the bushiest eyebrows. Now looking at her prance around on stage, she reminds me of Prince. Maybe it's because she's petite and wearing a frilly costume...?
