Thank you Ms. Lupone, for putting your soul out there every time to move people. It's not easy to be open like that. You bring beauty and dignity and so much heart into every role. Sublime.
I am sorry but i have to disagree.. Her voice is beautifull but Gunilla Backman is unbeatable and it is the best performance I EVER seen.. and please stop the Susan Doyle mania.. You people wouldn't even know what Les Miserables is if you wouldn't have seen it on the crappy talent show..
This is Patti's song.... I agree....when I saw her in Les Mis. I cried for the whole first half totally inconsolable...no tissues with me and black mascara running all over my face...very embarrassin!!!
Hmmmm @comoestas, you do realise that miss lupone was the original fantine in the 1985 London production of Les miserables? She is the one that made this song the song it has truly become over the past 25 years. My suggestion to you is that you get the original cast recording and you will hear a great deal of emotion. She is one of the greatest!
It's really not fair to compare her version to others. She made it the song it is today. She sings this with all the passion in the world as if there's nothing to it.
Patti is the greatest Evita ever. She is a legend and truly one of the greats. But I believe that this song doesn't suit her. Ruthie and Lea are much better on this song.
@MrHenTube why would you compare the two? susan boyle is just chasing her dream, like you and i. why shouldn't she? why shouldn't we...no matter what people say, or who they compare us to?
Actually, this is from Colm Wilkinson concert. Patti was invited to sing this song and don't cry for me argentina. BTW, schizokid was my alias. Thanks for saving my video.
Interesting. I wondered why she was listed in that concert. Do you have the part where she sings "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina"? If you do, would be kind enough to share? :)
Patti Lupone is so much more than Mrs Lovett. I think that may have been one of her weaker roles if anything, she is of legendary status and has played countless roles that could never be played the same after her including Fantine, Reno, Evita, Mama Rose, anyone who can only see her as Mrs Lovett, just simply doesn't know the first thing about Patti Lupone as a performer.
Thank you Ms. Lupone, for putting your soul out there every time to move people. It's not easy to be open like that. You bring beauty and dignity and so much heart into every role. Sublime.

I cant help but think of Patti in Will & Grace when she played herself and said "people either either love me, or hate me". Patti- I love ya!

Her voice is so majestic, very wonderfully aged and mature. Doesn't seem to need any extraneous emotion to be shown.

Well, I'd love to, but I don't have that "don't cry for me" part for the moment. If I find it, I'll upload.

didn't she play fantine in the original cast in london with colm as valjean?
morebaileyskim 4 years ago 37
Yes she did.
highflyingadored01 4 years ago 36
@morebaileyskim
Yes Patti was the original Fantine, which is why Ruth sang it a little differently.
I cannot chose between them to me they bothy a world class.
