That is a very inaccurate definition of scale...

1/8 scale means that 1 foot in length on the R/C vehicle is equal to 8 feet on the vehicle it's modeled after....

@bammergeraskate96 i would reccomend looking into a 1/10 losi truck or a 1/10 hpi truck. for a beginner go for an hpi wheelie king. you can get lexan, (the type of stuff that they use to make the bodys) monster jam truck bodies. its meant to be like a monster truck. its got an aluminum chassis and its terrific for pullin off wheelies! i believe its roughly $250

@rocketmail1718 i recommend a 1/12 thats what i race typically they are cheaper and some are faster you could go off-road and get a decent used buggy of e-bay for i dunno $175? but dont get a monster truck first off they break, a lot and you're going to pay, a lot. Also if you are intrested in racing you should get a 1/12 or smaller (1//16) they are the most raced.

It wont do 50 mph, believe me. Most of these dreamfigures they talk about, RCs doing this and that speed are as I said dreamfigures.

An 1:8 scale racing buggy will do around 40 mph tops unless you gear it undriveably high.
