  • i like the celtic ring to Johnnys version but i like the vocals of Frankie...put the two together an thats one damn fine tune

  • Both versions are just great. Johnny is my favorite, but that doesn't mean that I don't like Frankie, he's awesome. I'd love it if they could have performed it together. Don't know if that is possible.

  • I love Johnny Reid...by far better even if it was Frankie's song...Love to you Johnny

  • CANADA J'Aime vraiment le résultat du mélange,

  • CANADA Jauime vraiment le résultat du mélange,

  • CANADA really love that blend

  • why the nasty comments about Johnny Reid being a poor imitation? To be honest his version sounds just as good as Frankie's. Still, to me this has always been Frankie Miller's song since I first heard it many many years ago so he is the one who gets my vote here.

  • love johnny reid but both are great

  • i think it depends on who you hear first i like johnny, not taking anything away from frankie johnny came first.

  • ate the gogo girls on johnny reid s vdo

  • different......!!!!! love the song tho

  • maybe he is paying tribute to a fellow scotman

  • maybe he is singing it for his fellow scotsman

  • I agree safeway56

  • I love Johnny Reid, but this is Frankie Miller's song! :-)

  • Johnny Reid, FTW! :) Love Johnny Reid

  • Johnny Reid is by far way better

  • Yeah!!!!! I'm from Sweden

    I love it

  • JOHNNY!

  • They both were petty good But I think Frankie Miller was a lot better!

  • Johnny Reid sings the song while Frankie feels it.

  • @Rdoch47 I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT, ABSOLUTELY !!!!!

  • Johnny Reid sings the song while Frankie feels it.

  • They're both very good, just different. Frankie's is really edgy, Fogarty-esque, while Johnny's is a little more refined, suggestive of his Canadian upbringing. However, drum roll, big point coming, since we are close to Robbie Burns night, you should all understand that BOTH of these artists are Scottish. Flowers of Scotland both, love 'em. Roy Williamson would have been proud.

  • I Like Frankie Miller but they are both good. I saw Tom Jones live and like his version best!

  • Hands down, JOHNNY REID!!! :) ♥

  • Jonny boy! gud version & well sung kiddo, i like yout style. But comparin ye tae frankie,? No contest M8! Still like ye tho man!!! D.T > P/S I'm tryin tae play it like you, but canny find the chords written anywerrrrr!

  • Frankie Miller sings it better.

  • What contest? Just two great singers in whom we are well pleased and proud...Nobody can sing like Frankie..we love him, and justifiably....

  • Tough call..nobody can/could sing like Frankie..not a contest just two wonderful singers, in whom we are well proud.

  • Frankie Miller 'hands down' sorry Johnny

  • Before I looked at this, I would have thought Johnny. Well now that I see Frankie - well my Mom used to have a saying "like water falling off a duck's back". It just pours out of Frankie! So natural! So soulful! Yup yup yup - Frankie gets my vote. :)

  • frankie wins hands down.johnny reids version sounds like a very average cover version of the great frankie

  • JOHNNY REID!!!!!!!! I love him :) I not a bog country girl though.... I met Johnny Reid on real life... At the golf classic on digby... I live in digby !! he gave me hi hat he wore and I go a pic of him with me ... :) haha and if anyone doesn't belive me... I don't care I know it's true.... anyway I like Johnny Reid better than the other guy ! cause the other guy doesn't sound good!

    Go JOHNNY REID!

  • Nice... at karaoke night...

  • I love this song.

Johnnie's is very good, also, but my favourite is Frankie Miller - only then "the tear is in my eye".

  • frankie miller no contest . if you disagre with my opinion then you can go fuck yourself

  • johnny is good but frankie is much better!!!

  • 5 more sleeps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wonder if this Johnny Reid guy ever mentions to his fans about copping this very similar version of Darlin" from the great Frankie Miller, who can't speak for himself anymore...

  • johnny is better

  • Who the hell is Ray Charles and buddy where did learn to spell it's called a dictionary, use one!

  • thank you..lildevilangel/2326.ray charles knows where frankie miller cums fae, and he husnae been there.

  • thank you..lildevilangel/2326.ray charles knows where frankie miller cums fae, and he husnae been there.

  • as billy said any person who wants to be apolutishun should be barred from evin thinking aboot it. wan thing i done i done was not fix sumfin thit wisnae broken. any eegit thit thinks they kin sing a song better thin frankie miller needs a head docter. i,m being kind. hail! hail!

  • both are great versions...i like frankies voice better, but i like the upbeat celtic ring johnny reids got going. johnnys music sound with frankies voice would sound pretty cool. frank takes it.....sorry johnny haha

  • Frankie Miller is a way better singer for the acoustics he had than Johnny Reid will ever be. I can tell by the comments I've read that you F***kheads don't know anything about music. all you listen too is what you wanna hear..........and you're probably Fucked up when ya hear it.

  • fuckin mugs the lot of you

    frankie bhoy is the man

  • NO AGREEING to JOHNNY BEING #2 ............ JOHNNY IS #1 SO LIKE IT OR NOT so FRANKIE can go back to germany, or where ever

  • THIS FRANK WHOEVER cant hold a candel to JOHNNY REID !!!!!!!! he should be digging ditches compared to MR JOHNNY REID !!!!!!!!!!!

  • johnny is 100% a better singer there is no competition here.....

  • Agree, Frankie is the best to sing Darlin' , but

Johnny is a good number 2

  • Comment removed

  • He does not!!! Johnny is an amazing singer!

  • There is no way that this guy can compere to Frankie Miller!!! He sounds like a cruise band from Poland!!! :(((

  • Well he can't be that famous that was only the first I heard of him and Johnny Reid is WAY better a singer AND way hotter

  • The great FAMOUS Frankie Millar is 10 times better.

  • Frankie Miller has an amazing voice

  • I love Jolhnny Reids Voice

  • hello i think that this is the best song hey darren whats up u nerd hahaha

  • frankie miller is the best by far.........johnnny reid is doing a poor imitation of him. i prefer johnnys usual voice..........love to frankie.......the greatest

  • they are bith very good they should sing it together that would be nice to hear

  • I have to vote for Johnny Reid. They are both good but, Reid is my favorite. Tom Jones does a pretty good "Darlin" also.

  • For 30 years I din't know who sang this song - I was given its record on a blank cassette by friend and I Liked it much all this years-and now I found that it was Darling by Frankie Miller. That's is masterpiece fro me.Johnny's imitation is very similar but Frankie is better IMHO.

  • Miller's version appears live, honest, and original. Reid's studio version seems to be a contrived and overproduced attempt to copy Miller.

  • First one sounds like somebody on karaoke attempting an impression of the great Frankie.

  • OMG lets go johnny your awsome LOL

  • Silly to compare especially on the basis of two such different recordings! Reid's is a modern studio track and Miller's is a live? recorded television appearance from years ago. Frankie would be at a disadvantage there. I have no vested interest in either artist, but sounds to me like Reid definitely heard Miller and was inspired by/influenced by him.

  • Johnny Reid...............hands down!

  • johnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is way better yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • JOHNNY REIDDDDDDDDDD 10 STARS

    FRANKIE 2 stars

  • Jhonny Reid fo sure

  • by far johnny, frankie sounds drunk

  • never heard of Johnny Reid before, and being a great Frankie Miller fan, I would like to say he "almost" stands up the Man, but not quite there :)

  • was this one ever covered by Dr Hook???

  • Comment removed

  • Johnny, puts shivers down your back with this version, Wow......

  • johnny reid, but both are good

  • Frankie Miller. That's easy.

  • johnny reid gor sure!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go johnny reid he is by far the best ever. LOVE YOU JOHNNY:)

  • all the way johnny ried,,,, yeah go man

  • Frankie have the spirit for the song, Johnny dont...listen to Frankies voice for god sake...go right down to the soul.

Nice try Johnny, but you dont beat old Frankie :-)

  • johnny reid all the way 4sure

  • To me, each has its own uniqueness, something special. Both are right up there among the best versions of this classic song....they both are winners!!!

  • Nice to see Scottish singer Frankie Miller's hit being made a hit again buy a fellow Scot Johnny Reid

  • PS Frankie for me

  • Johnny Reid all the way! WHOO!!

  • Johnny Reid is all of my heart for ever.

    love him so much

    David

  • Johnney Reid, But it's a close call

  • definitely frankie.the other ones got a pop star poofter about him.

  • both are good,,but i tend to lean towards J.Reid, smoother, and Johnny can carry a tune pretty good,,listen to his other vids/songs.

  • Cindy&Bert

  • I personally loved John Lee Hookers version, but these are great! It must be the song!

  • The best version of this song was the original, David Rogers. It was recorded by a few other Country artists as well. The original started with "Darlin, I'm feeling kind of lonsome" instead of the way it is here. Both of these versions are very good but I'm kind of biased toward David's version, I was in the studio in Nashville when it was recorded. It never sold well for him even though he had a great voice, I don't think it is even available any more.

  • does have the raw enegy and stridency of the FM version

  • JOHNNY REID

    JOHNNY REID

    JOHNNY REID

johnny reid im going to see him when he goes to somewhere but i forgot but i say JOHHNNY REIDDD !!!! OKAY !!!?!!?!? JOHNNY REID !!!

  • Hands down, Johnny Reid!

  • not bad!!!!!!!!!

  • I say Johnney Reid

  • frankie miller is the best singer for this song

  • frankie millers version is the best by far, what a voice and what a legend frankie is.

  • I think Johnny Ried brought this song back to life after Barbara Mandrell sang it...He is so awesome...and his eyes...No words can describe what they do to me...

  • Why the debate? I love Johnny's voice better. However they both did an awesome job and it is a great song any way you cut it. They are both great singers in their own right.

  • johnny reid sings darlin the best. he can sing to me with those dreamy eyes any day

  • hi

johnny reid sing darlin better by a long shot. he can sing to me with those dreamy eyes any day

  • definitely Johnny...awesome voice

  • Wow. The're both really good. But I like Johnny's better, just because it's the first one i heard, and i LOVE his voice

  • Frankie did this in 1977 and if it wasnt for frankie johnny would not know about this song. so if you want to blow johnny DONT put Frankie down

  • Frankie Miller just doesn't have the sparkle that Johnny Reid has, he sounds flat.

  • he's the best always will be and you can have your frankie miller and do with him as you please

  • johnny obviously miller's a wannabe johnny reid

  • Reid was 3 when Miller recorded his version. Must be the other way around.

  • Frankie better keep hideing behind the scenes, because he cant beat Johnny, just listen to then agian if you have too, its a given!!!

  • Frankie :)

  • Johnny Reid is the BOMB!!!

  • I saw Johnny Reid live and i think he rocks!!! <3 Deff Johnny.

  • Johnny Reid because he is my all time favsinger.. hes sooo sexy.. obviously!

and frankie miller sounds like hes throwing up or something.. his voice is to cracky and Johnnys is sexxxy... The music video by Johnny is beautiful

  • I still like Bonnie Raitts way better.

  • I like them both :o) They each bring their own special "feel" to the song. When Frankie Miller sings it...it is with a raw n soulful quality. There are other videos on YouTube of him performing it...they are fantastic in my opinion!!! :o) :o) Frankie has alot of other great songs that he sings (both original & covers) He really is an amazing and underated artist...a very bluesy, "hurting" and ecclectic feel to his voice/sound...Just my thoughts :o) :o)

  • BUT I GUESS FRANKIE SOUNDS BETTER

  • JOHNNY HE SO SEXY FOR A OLD FELLA

  • That's almost like asking, "Which bird sings sweeter, a canary or a turkey". DAH. JOHNNY would definately be THEE canary. Never heard of this Miller turkey and if I ever hear him again it'll be TOO SOON. I think he should take up acting though,,,,,all he needs is a pair of fangs and he'd make a perfect werewolf, the way he keeps tossing his head back and Howling at the moon.

  • countrybaboon

You obviously know nothing about music. Frankie Miller has written more than 300 songs recorded by the likes of Ray Charles, The Eagles, Delbert McClinton,... and he sings with such great phrasing, gravel, and soul - he is just hard to top. Them's just the facts.

  • Is every1 out there tone deaf? Who is Johnny Reid anyway? Frankie Miller all the way, gr8 voice n u no it cums from the heart. Johnny is basically singin karaoke & getn paid 4 it

  • Who is Johnny Reid? Johnny won best male entertainer of the year at the Canadian Country Music Awards this year....His single "Woman Like You" is currently #1 across Canada and when the album was released it was certified gold in 48 hours. THAT'S who Johnny Reid is....You won't have to ask soon...everyone will know him.....But both versions of the song are very good.

  • Big in Canada....that says it all.....Frankie Miller is known worldwide, and has been for over 30 yrz . People will still be listening to Frankie LONG after Johnny's 5mins fizzles out. Has the talent to sing AND write. Go back to the day job Johnny, karaoke is for Friday nights at the pub

  • You don't have to get nasty. Johnny's music hasn't been released in any other country yet...once it is he will be known worldwide too...and he's only just starting so give him a little time. I did not put Frankie down....I said they are both nice, but you are just being mean to someone you don't know.

  • you are a ass celtic class, you have no class

  • U ppl dnt no class wen u hear it. Wishing u well in ur recovery Frankie, the music world hasnt been the same without ur gr8 singing voice, u r a true legend n no1 even comes close

  • I'd say Tom Jones has the best version - for those old enough to know who that is.

  • Definetly Johnny. It's the sexy voice. :]

  • Johnny Reid .. because I think it´s the better country voice !

  • frankie miller

  • Same here.

  • i like johnnys because of the harmonica

  • Better put Tom Jones in there. He get's my vote, although Johnny is fantastic too.

  • love you Johnny, your the best.

  • I like both of them (this is a great song) but I think I prefer the 'unpolished' more 'raw' sound of Johnny. I'll have to check out Barbara Mandrell's version.

  • I like Barbara Mandrell's Version Best, But Johhny wins between these 2.

  • I'd have to say Johnny. Frankie has a scratchy quality to his voice, while Johnny has that huskiness as polish put it :)

    ps. woo MB ppls

  • Johhny Reid ... i like the huskiness in his voice

  • frankie miller sucks

  • way to go fellow 'Pegger LOL

  • FRANKIE MILLER

  • I'll take BARBARA MANDRELL'S version of this song personally... she does a very

    nice cover of this song.

  • just listened to both again johnny reid not in the same class as Frankie johnny sounds like a kareoke singer clean your ears people

  • Frankie miles better unless your tone deaf

  • johnny reid is by far the better singer of this song

  • Tom Jones.

  • johnny!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Frankie bhoy!

  • johny reed

    best

  • frankie is feeling it more definitely...

  • Johnny Reid...he's fresh, believable, and has the gravelly voice to bring out the greatness of the song.

  • Not a fair comparison: studio vs. live. Listened to Frankie's studio + it's better imho than Johnny - his voice is more dynamic, so Frankie's my vote

  • I love Johnny Reid and I can't wait to see him in concert, so he wins of course!

  • Johnny Reid has the perfect voice for this song somehow. Great song!

  • my vote is johnny :)

  • Johnny Reid has my vote ... I like Frankie's version, but Johnny has the better voice.

  • johnny reid thanks.

not saying anything bad about frankie miller johnny's just more my kind of music.

  • They do the song in different styles, so it's hard to compare. They are both great versions!

Props to Johnny for bringing the song back to radio again, it's still a great song!
