  • they ain bouta make no fuckin luxury condos by five oaks -__-

  • i helped build the caresource building!

  • Every ohio city has had its problems. At one time they were calling cleveland the mistake by the lake due to its high rate of crime and economic decline, what has to happen in dayton is people need to clean up the streets. No more killing and drug selling get a real job, yes manufacture jobs are gone but now this just sets up the future of dayton with a go green technolgy atmosphere which can bring new jobs in the area and its already doing so. But you need education to get into this field

  • When people come to visit from out of town where do you take them for fun?? We got some amusement parks i guess, but that's about it. Cincinnati , ohio got alot of stuff to do i guess. How far from the truth is forbes. I agree we are a dying city. Nobody thinks outside the box, we in a box. We keep the funeral homes busy. The census is a big joke. Ain't no money coming back to our community. The streets been fuck up for years. Leave dayton while you can still walk. Let dayton die who cares, shit

  • There's nothing to do in dayton, ohio, but get high. There's no good clubs, arcade square is closed. Salem mall is gone, Walmart in trotwood ohio is gone. The clubs in dayton suck. Homicide is on the rise again and it ain't even summer yet. Everybody is hustling drugs or clothes, or cds and movies. Everybody just stuck on there porch. Downtown dayton sucks every since they closed arcade square. Why did they close it anyway? The people here are not friendly. Everybody is bitter and mad. NO JOBS

  • Thanks the future looks good for Dayton. Thanks for the video :)

  • lived in dayton nine years from 2001 to 2010. It was cool still have many friends there & will always come back to visit. I'm now in cleveland & like it very much but miss dayton.

  • The future of Dayton? What a joke? The only thing that will save Dayton now is a bulldozer to level it so they can turn it back to crop land. The only good paying jobs available is in the illegal drug trade buying, selling or running illegal drugs & narcotics. Dayton used to have a lot of really smart citizens. They are the ones that left town. Over 100,000 to be exact.

  • Lupforlife- Shut the hell up . Dayton is actually home of stars and so what there alot of african americans there . My best friend happens to be black . You can go and look at comments offending your race . You're a sick racist .

  • daytons my home.

  • there is no future for this city, it's dead, get the fuck out while you can i should know, i live in the heart of this peice of shit, only heart ache, and broken dreams reside here, this place is only for the hardcore dumb, soon as i get my car fixed, siafuckingnora.

  • Omg fucking dayton is the only city i been too that had so many snake nigga's roaming up in there man i had to get the fucked outta there main i swear stay away from dayton ohio man them mothafucka's is broke, bored, and crazy.

  • Haha. That was pretty funny.

  • the future of dayton is a landfill.. and a hospital. maybe two hospitals

  • I just don't know. I live NEAR Dayton. I always wonder myself WHERE all of the people who live in the big fancy suburbs work? They're adding on to the hospital sounds like the people complaining about not having work need to get in some sort of medical program!!! Find an expensive one though because some will rape you!!! Go to the Greene County career center to get some prelimary training. People are always going to need to go to the hospital.

  • dayton is full of ninjas...too too many ninjas

  • i was born and raised in the east side of dayton, only thing i can say is all these other people are right on. wtf good is it gonna do to build all this high class/high dollar shit when we aint got no jobs to work? when the auto industry started falling apart, we were fucked. we relied too much on manufacturing, and now all that is gone to china and mexico. so what do we have left?

  • looking bright is if you are the architect designing the buildings for dayton. the only bright future for us people who live in dayton however is filling up the empty buildings already with jobs for us and the economy. we are almost like another detroit.

  • I love my City!!!

  • i live in dayton....ITZ FUCKIN EMPTY HERE!!!!!WTF THEY CHANGIN IT FOR?! AND AT THAT TRYNNA ADD NEW BUILDINGS WHEN WE DONT HAVE MONEY IN THE FIRST PLACE.......god i wanna move so bad

  • hahahaha dayton still looks like shit

  • im from north carolina and i live in dayton ohio. i like this city.

  • The work that people that can't find jobs is atleast semi-recession proof. What else could DPS teach us as kids.

  • i love my city, but i see no future in it or in the inner city at least.

  • we need a new mayor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Land of the poor home of Mc Linn and co. Way to go montgomery county pays idots 22$ a hour to cut grass and walk around the Adminstration building acting like there workin if you dont believe me go down there you cant miss em and if your a nice lookin lady theyll sexually harase you! Wow great management !!!

  • dayton may be poor and stuff but actually alot has been done in the world from this city. like birth of aviation, airplanes, we settled a piece agreement from different countries forget tho. the car key starter. music groups. sure its poor but its a real part of history. lots of famous people from here to. Rob Dyrdek , charlie sheen (2 and a half men) his dad. nancy cartwright (bart simpson). that famous cowgirl . and many more

  • true...but oohio is in the shits

  • @bbwprincess937

ohio sucks ass through a straw.

  • yeahduh but i love my ohio even tho its shitty most f tha time

  • lol been a year since u posted this. dayton has only gotten worse. it sux here. i want nothin more than this to happen, but i also want nothing more than to GET AWAY FROM HERE. it is a living nightmare.

  • the caresource building is almost done..

  • who's paying for all these new buildings? no jobs, no tax money, no buildings, no future...

  • couldn't agree more.

  • what this is probly going to do is drive the poor away from dayton and only the ones who can afford it will live here dayton is a shithole hopefully it starts getting better!

  • good job mark

  • DYT GEM City To Da Fullest!

  • i live in dayton. it sucks.

  • ok,i live near dayton and i always drive around so to all the people that critisize the city:

i mean, so what if dayton isnt the cleanest city ever? lots of cities are dirty. so what if dayton isnt the prettiest like new york,l.a.,chicago

but it is very beautiful with all the trees and rolling hills

i think its beuatiful but i do pray that people take care of the Earth. :/

  • The idiot city manager that is not qualified to flip hamburgers at Mc Donalds has now told all city employees he wants them to give up their cost of living raises next year & at the same time is spending millions on crime plex to replace Roosevelt High School.I also notice he is not asking top managers to do that. That will surely make him more popular. Proving once again that Dayton sucks.Who needs it.Certainly not the 100,000 people that left for good. DA!

  • haha ikr? im living up in traverse city, michigan now. its pretty cool.. and micheal more owns the state theater. i saw him last week and he flipped me off cuz i accidentally called him michael myers. hahahahaha

  • Wow, lots of critics, but I don't hear anyone offering a solution. If you don't like the shape your city is in get off your ass and do something about it. Its people like you that give Dayton such a bad reputation!

Dayton is going through some amazing changes that sadly the media won't report on!

  • like forbes..or the dayton daily news

  • take your pick, both publications are a joke!

  • Tax abatements!

Bring jobs TO Dayton, Real Jobs, real manufacturing and service jobs.

More Police: Enforce the laws, get rid of loitering hoods and drug dealers.

The West Side is a war zone. More community policing, get people involved.

More home ownership, tear down the 10,000 vacant homes that are blight.

Do something with the river, develop it. It is doing nothing as it sits now.

Have a dock, water races, bike paths with security. Clean it, expand it.

  • man dayton aint finna hve no future....man... with every body leavin....dayton is in the top 10 dying cities in tha u.s.

  • wow your the only person I know who listens to Forbes!!!

  • Dayton, Ohio is full of dysfunctional families that raise dysfunctional children that end up on the streets & get into drugs, crime & violence.Their parents will not take a look at themselves or change so whats the use?

  • het now. i live in Dayton and i don't live in a dysfunctional family or anything.e some people around here are crazy but alot of people are good people.

  • i agree!!!

  • You dont have a clue what dayton is like I was born an raised in Dayton right there in Dayton view I graduted from high school and went on to college and I just recieved my masters. At at gsu in atlanta ga. You watch to much news and think all dayton is bad

  • not all dayton is bad. i was born there too but when i was 4 my mom and i moved to kettering and lived there till i was 14. i live in Traverse michigan now only been 2 years but i go down to dayton.. its changed alot. i think is getting worse

  • The important thing to remember is that it keeps getting better and it doesn't happen overnight. It really does take everyone's work to make it better.

  • If you guys would stop being so negative about everything then maybe it would work out. Its called community people. I see a great future for Dayton. All we need to do is get the current Mayor out of office and get someone in there that cares. Rhine McLin has been one of the worst Mayors that Dayton has ever had. Dayton needs someone who will act on the ideas instead of letting them collect dust. The current Mayor was a horrible pick for the city.

  • looks great just hope they bring lots of business to Dayton, ive been trying to contact officials on meetings about the future of Dayton i want to participate and help bring Dayton back, i have a background study of Architecture and i will give my assistance in building plans

  • Living about 5 minutes from downtown and seeing all the homes boarded up due to foreclosure and drug trafficking, I am wondering what all that luxury will do for the poor here. Most likely nothing. It will be people from outside Dayton proper who will be using all that great new stuff.

I wish they would spend more on law enforcement and tearing down a bunch of these eyesore empty residences as well as building new things.

  • What about the restoration of Dunbar District? I belive many poor people live there! A great effort is going on all over the city.

  • Poor people live "around" Dunbar- not in it. Nobody with any money is going to live down there. And from what I've seen the Dunbar District is about a block long consisting of an empty storefront museum type display of a farmers market, a bank branch that looks like a jail house and 3 pawn shops surrounding it. The bridge coming from downtown is decorated nicely- that's about the best of Dunbar.

  • Your comment on the Wright Dunbar neighborhood is right on target. The people living there are by no means poor, but they are surrounded by them and also they are surrounded by properties in various states of disrepair and abandonment. I am betting they have serious alarm systems in their homes and cars.

  • Nice video :-) I'm currently producing a Dayton based reality show about my life and touring around the world but still living here. I hope you check it out!

  • I grew up in Dayton

  • My name is Scott Ford formerly working with The City of Dayton and the Southeast Priority Board I moved away from my home town after local government failed and projects and businesses left Dayton. I now reside in NYC and I want to come back to Dayton with my outside experience and vision to help transform Dayton to a working attractive Midwest Center and create Dayton's new future image of one that is appealing to the outsider and tourist. "Dayton The Place To Be"

  • I moved from Dayton in 2002 because it was so empty, boring and ugly I really hope they give the old GEM CITY a face lift maybe then I'll come back home. Thanx for the visual inspiration!

  • I was born here, and left in 91. Coming back after all this time to spend time with my family and get my degree. Anyone know of a community college that has a transfer program to OSU after 2 years?

If you do PM me please!

  • Sinclair Community College in downtown Dayton has articulation agreements with all Ohio colleges and universities.

  • As much as Dayton, Ohio lacks luxury, jobs, & great landscapes. I truly must say Dayton will certainly look "Brand New" for all the hood niggaz. I hope they step up law enforcement & have new jobs for the poor folks.

  • Nice video, so glad to see some of these new projects getting attention.

  • Great Dayton Update.... The sky's the limit - Go Dayton.
