I think the bigger question this video poses to me is when you throw in the military imagery, is he dying as a Christian martyr or because he is involved in a senseless war meant not to spread Christian values but American democracy? The clip is thought provoking but kinda misguided.

@states37 If he had been a tourist who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, he still could have ended up in the same predicament. Him being a soldier was more a matter of circumstance. The fact that they told him to denounce Jesus in front of the camera or die, instead of some political statement, says his faith had more to do with his death than his citizenship. Whether they would have spared him if he read the statement is more questionable.

It sounds like you don't believe in that, but please do the research and consider the lives lived by those who lived with Jesus during his ministry. The clip as well as Jesus Christ teaches that nothing can separate the Christian from God either in death or life. I would ask you, the next time you see a military member (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard) or family of a military member, grab them by the hand and personally shake their hand and tell them thank you for your service. Next give them a giant warm hug. This time of the year can sometimes be a depressing time, some military members can related to the numbers I listed earlier ( see list) in relation to someone who “was that guy or girl” who lost their life.
