Roger Waters, that genius... Its hard to keep up with the brilliant things he does!
@Zoso62509 I saw your post and asked myself the same Question and believe it to be symbolic of one's other side. The whole album is pure mental genius...
I am In the Flesh as we speak. Its a change of character from who I was, but I cannot go back now, not after the way I was treated and the things I was shown.
Roger has an amazing stage presence. It already showed in the early Pink Floyd concerts of the 60's, but he's such a magnificent bastard here, it's wonderful. Love that guy.
Now I really hate seeing the unending mass of comments concerning the number of dislikes of a certain video such as '394 stupid people' or '678 commies' and what not, but I sadly just thought of one I'm surprised I've never seen under an 'In the Flesh' video I am feeling rather hypocritical today so I'll share the immature comment.
There's two people in the spotlight.
I know, It's horrible, but whatever. LONG LIVE ROGER WATERS!
they say roger put the fascist dictator part in because it was one of pinks helucinations but i think he just wanted to wear that sick ass nazi jacket
@EVHfan5001 hes not wearing the jacket. Pink Floyd would have a tribute band come out and play In the Flesh? and In the Flesh while wearing masks hence the lyrics "they sent us along as a surragate band" and "youll just have to claw your way through this disguise"
@iamobeliskquake That was in "In the flesh?" Where they had an old touring bassist wear a mask and act like Roger, but I'm sure you can clearly see that when they perform "In the flesh", it's Roger.
@ShasoMontyr I actually did break down in tears upon seeing my seats, we were almost right next to the stage... I paid over 80 dollars UNDER face value for them.
@ShasoMontyr Nice! I probably was too... I was blessed enough to have seats in the lowest level (Not floor though. I hate those.) Its a good thing I just waited until 3 days before the show to get the tickets :D
such horrible video, i know ...we weren't as advanced back then and yet im confused...how come the SOUND is soooooo goood, would've loved to have had the opportunity to see roger waters and david gilmore , nick mason and rich wright, the mostly WHOLE band on the road TOGETHER, such a shame whatever happened between them (if anything even did happen), they could of done SO MUCH MORE!!
@babyjo21166 the sound actually is updated from the album "is there anybody out there?" wich is from this tour and its more recent. i got the dvd that didnt have the updated sound and the sound was horrible...
I saw this show 2/27/80 in Nassau Col. It was fucking mindblowing! Anyhoo the comment about the guy talking at the beginning of the song. This character came out on the stage at the beginning of the show and the start of the second half of the show and announced to the crowd to NOT make any excess noise, applause, no photography etc.. While he spoke his apperance "aged" and his voice changed and then he dropped thru a hole (elevator) into the floor !
Why aren't concerts like this anymore? Awesome pyrotechnics, great stage shows.. I went to see Iron Maiden in New York this year and there were no pyros or a great stage show, long live Pink Floyd!
@LiamOlivera There are concerts like this, today. For example, Roger Water's tour of the The Wall Live of this year is filled with pyrotechnics and effects...yeee
I never understood why they taped all of these concerts so poorly... its like they hired the video club at some high school to handle these shows.... what a shame
@amatang The reason is this.... It was 1980 and Roger, David, and Nick LOST money on every show they performed. They knew they would not make money with this show so odds are in 1980 they never even thought of DVD sales 30 years later.
The only one that made money was Rick because he was not part of Pink Floyd and was a hired hand at that point.
It was a mistake not having super high quality recordings but that is how it is.
Crediting for Pink Floyd seemed tricky. A bandmember could contribute largely to a song yet not receive credit because they didn't write the lyrics or largely compose the song structure. Gilmour wrote a huge chunk of the guitar in this song as well as "Hey You" but it was still credited to just Waters. This happened to Rick Wright in "Animals"(he was hugely important in the structure of Sheep and Dogs)
You say 50Cent-I Say Led Zeppelin You say Miley Cyrus-I say AC/DC You say T-Pain-I say Deep Purple You say Flowers-I say Van Halen You say Pink-I say Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop-i say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B-I scream Classic Rock You say hanah montana-i hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap.If you are part of the 30% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT rock die
@MrAndysalina5 He is not a virtuoso, he never did awesome fast solos that required a shitload of drums and cymbals and all of his drumming can be easily replicated. Just play steadily.
And oh, I never said that Mason sucked or wasn't good for the band. All I said is that you can replicate the drumming and the keyboards, even the bass and the guitar (but guitar would be the hardest), but you can't mess with the voices.

how can I ever forget.... I saw them in '92 at Sun Devil Stadium while I a student at ASU. My girlfriend then, a hot blonde with a graduate degree made my night complete. However, the little house she lived in was known to have a scorpion or two hanging around, literally, so it always made reluctant to stay regardless of the rewards. Memorable !
four of the best albums ever are dark side of the moon, wish you were here, animals and the wall. roger waters is a genius. i would love to have seen the floyd during any tour, but especially 73-81
@eric15746 I agree about the bit about the tours. But wouldn't it be interesting to see one of those strange concerts in the early days where Syd Barrett would, reportedly, do nothing except stare into space and do all kinds of strange things? :P
That guy in the beginning. Is he talking weird and distorted on purpose? My belief is he is the guy from the frst song of the show 'In the Flesh' who was saying stuff like 'please no firecrackers, etc.' Also, I believe he is now talking odd and incomprehensible, because that's what Roger's character Pink is hearing is his isolated, drug-induced world. Does anyone understand what im saying?
@TheRockNRollFan Yes. At this point the whole concert is supposed to feel robotic and mechanical, a band just going through the motions. He's also doing what Hitler used to do at a Nazi rally, deliberately delaying his speech and working the crowd up into impatience, so that by the time he was ready to speak, they were fanatical listeners.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why does it all got to be so terribly loud? For me, frankly, its too loud. I just can't bare it. I happened to have grown up with the string quartet which is a bit softer. So, uh, why does it got to be so loud?
Actually not everybody who has grown up in a string quartet has a little pop. So your reasons weren't altogether committed. But I accept that you like it. What are you saying is that, if one gets immune to this kind of sound one may find it difficult to appreciate softer types of sound?
No. They had guys with masks come out at the beginning and at this part to confuse people. On "Hey You" they started playing during intermission while people were still in line and the houselights were still up to confuse them. I love it.
@TomcioRomicio83, i turned my speakers as loud as i could to hear what he was saying, then when the first note was played i nearly fell out of my chair.
why did i watch this. i'm crying now.

He's also doing what Hitler used to do at a Nazi rally, deliberately delaying his speech and working the crowd up into impatience, so that by the time he was ready to speak, they were fanatical listeners.

Why does it all got to be so terribly loud? For me, frankly, its too loud. I just can't bare it. I happened to have grown up with the string quartet which is a bit softer. So, uh, why does it got to be so loud?

@Gold753 yeah. you grew up with a penis with the size of an ant -.-

I love it.

@blizzofozz
yeah that's still him.
he just threw on the jacket when the band was behind the wall.
