  • It's as if the director said "yes! let's do an acid house video, wave your hands!" and the band decided to humour him, although they thought it was silly.

  • I didn't question, I didn't know. As far as I'd seen, life was endless. When I realized I had to let go. We are mere mortals, as to the rest it's not eternal, imperishable-- while on the move (oh, yes it will go). It's not eternal, interminable-- progress is the clue (the dinosaur law). I thought IBM was born with the world, the US flag would float forever. The cold opponent did pack away, the capital will have to follow. Look at the symbols, they are alive. They move, evolve, and then they die.

  • d wuevossssss

  • this video has been on youtube for more than five years, and only 500,000 views,...? others full of shit get one million views in one day-- something is VERY wrong with this world

  • Stupid

  • I love the Prisoner style capes! Be seeing you.

  • Want to feel & play a Jenny Ondioline

  • Being hip brought me here.

  • Very Cool. Love Euro sound from these folks ;-)

  • this is SOOOOOO arty farty!!!

  • @bille77 I hope it doesn't give you gas.

  • Mars Audaic Quintet blew a hole in my head as a 15 year old. Stereolab led me to so many amazing bands; Neu!, Faust, Silver Apples... Hawkwind, even! Thanks Stereolab!

  • @cheekymonkey1979

Broadcast too, if you haven't heard them...

  • @jkeesler2 Funny you should mention: I saw their first show in London at the same time 'the Book Lovers' EP came out, and they were supporting... Stereolab!

  • @cheekymonkey1979

Jealous...I got a chance to see stereolab their last go around in a small venue, but haven't heard broadcast live. Would be nice!

  • @jkeesler2 Yes, it's a shame that Trish Keenan died. Both she and Mary Hansen should have had many more years of wonderful music.

  • Thumbs up if you didn't need some dumbass Tyler to find good music.

Ya'll acting like he made the songs as well.

  • Laetitia Sadier is a great piece of...very pretty.....

and she has an endless beautiful voice too...

  • tune and video of total delight! a friend said my band reminded him of this, search for stheno & euryale and see if ya agree :)

  • Yeah, go on!

  • I though IBM was born with the world,

The US flag would float forever,

The cold opponent did pack away,

The capital will have to follow,

    It's not eternal, imperishable,

    Oh yes it will go,

    It's not eternal, imperishable,

    The dinosaur law,

  • one of my alltime favs

  • Seen them at least 4 times here in Austin. Awesome.

  • anyone else think she looks like alex james at 0:46 ?

  • @cloob1000 ahahaa! quite!

  • 90's forever!!

  • the girl at 1:11 looks a bit like Zia McCabe.

  • The Creator brought me here.

    Thought it was pretty ironic...

  • @ty4ya69 is that a movie of some sort?

  • @nero2719 Tyler the Creator is a rapper from Odd Future. In an interview he says that he really likes stereolab, big suprise for the interviewer. I didn't know stereolab, though way more my kinda music than odd future

  • @ty4ya69 So did Alanis Morissette..

  • nice

  • Awesome music, love the 'fat' sound.

  • Always loved this song. ♥

  • thought i'd share,

    I'VE ALWAYS HATED THIS SONG.

  • You know, for "rock-stars," they're rather like normal people.

  • FUCK TYLER

    HE LIKES THIS SHIT

  • @kjhbngcckhvjg ....my name is Tyler and I like this :(

  • @scatterbrain4242 are you tyler the creator?

  • Ohh Laetitia, your eyes, your looks, please flap your cape at me!!

  • I am 54 and still oves them ,no age on liking great music TB

  • isgood

  • the mighty stereolab

  • Dennis Kucinich/Sterolab 2012!

  • Fucking great song:D

their 1996 live in Athens was one of the best concerts for me

    Mary Hansen unforgettable.

  • I love all Stereolab, but I have to say they were at their peak when Mary Hansen was still with them.

  • wow that sounds like yoga by the pastels.

  • i first saw them at lollapalooza this band was coming on walking on to stage and they opened with this i just stood there with my mouth open they were just so how do you say so advanced and nonchalant about them selves they were amazing

this was at randalls island in nyc

  • For some reason, whenever I see this, I think of footage from East Germany, haha

  • Just bought this off iTunes...no idea why I hadn't heard this before....

  • I just discovered Sterolab by way of my son. I'm 64 and this should have been playing from the 60s on. It's really timeless. Love every cut that's up so far. Thanks.

  • @gaffneymusic wow thats awesome man!! hope you enjoy them, they really are a great band.

  • Oh My God...

I just discovered this band 30 minutes ago...

    I am pleased.

  • @stratocuse played in north london today!

  • Beautiful, mesmerizing pop song ... and I think the retro (low-budget) video works really well

  • I really like the track, but let's face it.. the video is poor.

  • Absolutely gorgeous tune x

  • wow, what a beautiful song and beautiful album. hadn't heard this in a while. takes you back :)

  • Im 56 and true love !

  • they don't look happy. it's a controlled depression whereby they are able to create beautiful musik. happiness is subjective.

  • imperishable

  • No... Yes...

    it`s eternal;)

  • nice to see Mary...

  • collaboration with the B-52's would be scrumptious.

  • this reminds me of the My Bloody Valentine cover of that Wire song.

  • Cool! Those capes are not only "Prisoner"-inspired but it looks like this was filmed at The Village/Portmeirion, Wales!

  • nice lips >>>>>>>>>>>>>> HERE

  • They sound so similar to The Bee and the Bird. Alternative lounge music?

  • laetitia are very beautiful

  • This is off the chain. OMFG

  • PLEASE

can anyone post a vid for Lock-Groove Lullaby. that track is amazing and yet nothing, absolutely nothing of it on youtube.

  • @ConsumptionMayCause Someone's put it up now - Hansenradiosatellite channel :)

  • Regarding dwhills comment re: talent all in studio.I don't know about today but I saw

band in '93 and '94 at The Crocodile Cafe in Seattle, and they were tight and grooving.

In fact the 94 show was the second show they played that day.The first being 200

miles to the south in Portland Or. earlier that day at Lolapalooza.

  • lol the 90s were awesome... even though I was very very young...

  • it's very obvious what this video is about. But everyone will think i'm a paranoid. So i will let it be at that for i, am no one upper

  • huh?

  • The 'huh' is for 7777..am I missing something here?

  • @paisleybabee I thnk it's a story about stereolab leaving the planet after some catastrophe on earth. The lyrics kinda hint bout that a little. I love this video That bubble on that spaceship looks like it could be that grassy area they are chillin at. You know like a mini biodome or sumthin lol

  • @jjfeighns okay..yeah I can see this..reminds me of a story I wrote in the late 80's!

  • Cuando no había creatividad en los videos...

  • Hmm so i finally found the song oasis ripped off of!

  • I fell off the planet the first time I heard this and think I'm still floating around in space somewhere....

....sigh. Where's that Delorean so I can go back and live in the 90s....

  • Yeah...a Delorean and 1.21 Gigawatt!

  • ....what a terrible, terrible video. Terrible.

    Did I mention its terriblicity?

    Terrible.

  • @mRRRc you are the poop i droped yesterday??

  • @mRRRc

It's horrible...ridiculously horrible. I LOVE the groop too - one of my most favorite bands in the world, but its obvious all of their creativity and ingenious talent was in the studio. Other than "Noise of Carpet" all of their video work is pretty boring.

  • I've always found Stereolab very soothing. I love the analog synth and her sweet voice, always got some in my Ipod for long runs.

  • <3 Just love this

  • The band is featured on Wikipedia's today's article

  • this song is great to hear when I enter the car and I see my destiny to go through me...

  • Laetitia's last gig as Monade is on my youtube channel, Towerofmusic. A really intimate gig. Enjoy x

  • Great .... Thanks for posting !! Love to see a video for "Spark Plug" !!

  • Oh this video is so terrible, I love it!

  • @SirMildredPierce Lol, yes terrible videos end up making good videos.

  • Probably my fave Stereolab track, along with French Disko.

And, am I the only one who thinks the girl with the red hair (at 1:11 - I forget her name) is a bit of a cutie?

  • Wow!

The French Underground Resistance sure has changed.

    Sign me up!

  • this sounds like eminem

  • @kelloggcerealxoxo

If that is the case (I have no idea, not having heard more than 3 of his songs) I'm sure it is him ripping them off as this song was released in '94, before his time, and their other, similar music predates even his oldest stuff even further.

  • very sarcastic

  • HEAVY MODNESS

  • RIP Mary. :.(

  • Yes very sad indeed. But at the very least she left us with some wonderful music to remember her by.

  • They look happy. They look busy. They look comfy.

I wish it was that way now.

  • @DominickBlack That is the weirdest reply to a vid...yet I somehow feel what you mean!!!! Kudos!!!

  • @DominickBlack The 90's were a great decade for music. If music stays true to form, might be another ten years before we see another music revolution.

  • @DominickBlack And she's e very good dike dancer too !

  • And to imagine, this was hapening in the middle of britpop! Misplaced loyalties or what?

  • YES!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • perfect on all levels. very cool video, flawless new sound.

    Unrated band.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:55 - she looks nice :3

  • im 43 and still love it

  • what is it like being 43?

  • Actually, you're not going to change at all after you're 22. You're eventually going to get ill and die, but that's a long, long time away.

  • it's like being a slowed down version of your former self ,with more perspective to frame your reality.

  • 43 is the best, you can still wear your superstars, smoke pot and admire all the vintage things you have accumulated throughout the long and awkward niavety that was an English upbringing, then you can join the long decline... its all good untill your hair runs off...then you need slippers and special sedatives !!

  • mars audiac quintet is superb

  • oh, and antag....even when women cant dance they still look hot...imo :)

  • 38 years old and still love their tunes :)

  • @TheBleech

    Ok youngster! pip squeak!

I'm 54 young and I loved them since before I had the internet "tubes' LOL

    They are FINE!!!! ;)

  • @newsy8 i'm pushing forty now and been listening to them since the same time as you, 'old person 'says in jest' lol

  • @TheBleech

    41 , I'm topping you :-)

  • Were are the 90ies?

I miss them and the good bands from that time!

  • @1973ratfink stereolab are on "hiatus." they very well may record again.

  • @TheBleech 38yrs? ask Keith Richards if thats old.

  • @bally28 It's relative, age wise to music, get a grip...

  • @TheBleech 'get a grip'? thats aerosmith...good album

  • @bally28 Nope, 'Get a grip' is a Stranglers track...

  • i love this band!!

  • jajajajajajaajaj

  • Fucking BRILLIANT!

  • Sadie can sing, but she can't dance.

  • A monkey can dance. It takes talent to write great lyrics & music.

  • upss... sorry.. I made a mistake

  • Well done, there.

  • please???

  • can u upload please Wow & Flutter - Nothing to say

  • microdoz

  • Nah - don't believe it. The arm-wrestling champion of Paris three years in a row. And the sexiest of champions, of course.

  • By the time the critics decided they were a great band I had already lost interest in much of their work. They are still amazing artists.

  • just heard about them in a film. class song. how have i not heard of them before?

  • because TV & Radio are rubbish and they hardly ever play anything decent. You have to feel bad for kids these days.

Why hasn't John Peel been reincarnated yet?

  • I reincarnated him last night. He came back with a citrus peel draped across his eyes. I wouldn't dare look beneath....

  • Well, I sincerely hope you gave him a cup of cocoa. And asked him for a few nods towards great up & coming bands, of course.

  • Check out Emperor Tomato Ketchup. Epic album. Sound-Dust also incredible. Hell, arguing about the diminution in quality between one Stereolab album and another is like arguing about which year Michael Jordan was best! All his years were pretty good!

  • "dots and loops"

  • frezned likes stereo lab

  • This is a a great early Stereolab video...very 60sish...

    Michael

  • they sound so good LIVE it's unreal!!! - *Ace Band!* - It;s an experiece rather than a gig ' total trance state' 10/10

  • I agree with you 100 percent. I saw them in New York twice and once in Philly after Mary died. Amazing group. One of the most original groups out there.

  • Oh my God,how much i love this band?

  • Where's Suddenly Stars???

Sigh, cant find it anywhere :(

  • StereoLab--ific!

    So fun to listen to....

More cowbell and more cape would be even better.

  • Don't get me wrong, I like it.

  • aw, mary, we miss you

  • they put on a hell of a live show
