Anyways, my MGS4 fat 80 Gig PS3 decides to YLOD on me before I could beat the game, thus making my hard drive and SAVE data useless( I didn't back data up back then). Ugh.... I am not playing this again, lol. Was it fun? How was beating the game like?
This game was so over exposed and thus overrated since console rpgs weren't a draw back in that day. So when all of a sudden it came out, everyone I knew talked about it.....I was like yeah it is alright I guess, it seems but did you ever play this game before....
Ten Years later I wanted to play it straight up and It's about an average/good game that hit big. There are better games that came out around the time, but the accessibility and exposure of it was monumental...
I really liked it more after ten years but yeah the game is like Nickelback in a way. There is nothing really wrong with them, but why are/is they/it so damn popular?
Only problem with your analogy is that Final Fantasy VII is a great game and at least deserves some of the recognition and praise it does. Nickelback, on the other hand, is god awful.
My analogy was a bit extreme, but neither deserve as much attention or recognition they really do get. FFVII is alright but I'd rather play FFVI or FFIV. I'm sick of FFIV though in ways as they keep re-releasing it. SquareEnix kinda ruined that one for me a bit.

My favourite song from FF7, hands down. I make sure everyone knows what it sounds like. It must also be a gamer thing to like gaming music (yes that sounds obvious), but I would've thought no matter who you are, you'd like good music, and this is GOOD - or maybe I'm just too easy to please.

Thank you for showing this song some love. Its definitly the second best song in ff 7. One winged angel is my fave but this one is a close second. The final fantasy games have unbelievable music. I wish more games had this caliber of sound.
I hope they don't remake FFVII. It would only be a further raping of the game. You don't see Nintendo going around remaking Mario, Metroid or Zelda games. Enhancements, yes, but they further the franchises and continue to make great games. Square-Enix can't make a good game anymore, so the just continue to milk the old great games.
Anyway. They can't remake this game, and keep the same scope. It's just not possible to make a game of that size. It would be too massive.
If they remade FFVII, I wouldn't mind if and only if they left the voice acting out. Music is what creates atmosphere, and this soundtrack would be fantastic in any modern game. It has stood the test of time... much like the City of the Ancients.
FFXIV has amazing graphics and is by far the worst in the franchise. If you can think of a better argument that graphics are the game then by all means...
I think this song has a very... melancholy feeling to it. For me... it always reminded me that I was going to lose my mage. And it kinda has a very hopeless theme to it. I always liked this more than most of the other tracks mostly because of the ambiance it creates for the locale.

Im a huge fan of final fantasy series and im starting to notice that even though new final fantasy games keep coming out with new graphics and new storylines, in a way they sort of ruin them. they're shorter, less interesting storyline, and you can barely free-roam between towns. my favorite final fantasy game has to be Crisis Core though. it had the best storyline for a prequel

AMAZING piece of music. It embodied the sense of abandonment that surrounded the Forgotten City's ruins. I was also expecting fights, so for a fair amount of time the dreary tone of the tune exacerbated my fear of new and much stronger monsters.
Oddly enough, I find this song very relaxing, and it's one of my favorite videogame songs of all time. Until about a month ago, it was in my "Top 25 Most Played" in my iTunes (out of 1700 songs...yes, I know that's sad...J-E-N-O-V-A is still there).
I can't conceive of anyone not liking this game. One doesn't haven't to think it's as amazing as the "fanatics" do but to say it sucks or overrated is just plain wrong. It was a hugely important game and has a deep and interesting story with great landscapes and places to explore. What's to hate about it? I just don't get it

FF7's quality is something that's determined by the player, not a number (unless they're 100% mindless followers of a video game reviewer, but I doubt anyone's like that). And whether Thriller was a success or not, although it reached a point most likely 99% of people agree is successful, is still subjective and is completely based on what someone considers successful.

Regardless of how good FFVII stands up to the test of time, or against it's peers in the FF game series, there's no denying that for a lot of gamers, it defined a huge part, if not all of their early gaming career. I know it colored almost the entirety of my childhood, which, for myself and I'm sure for a lot of other fans, is enough to make it hold merit all these years later.

I am just a fangirl and I have to say I love these games a lot. BIG FAN. I miss these types of games with good storylines. Never cared for graphics and not a big fan of 3D.

@McScreamo Maybe so but there is no denying that Ocarina of time is one of the bigger masterpieces and critically praised games ever made, to this day it is still the best game of it's type and many games have tried to copy, the 3DS version of the game should be superb.
@TheRetroPrime well i could arguably say that for action adventure games, that i liked conker's bad fur day. i thought it was the best n64 game but that doesn't mean that it's the greatest game. just because a lot of people have claimed a game to be superior does not mean that the game is better. as long as people create a balance of which game is liked and not, there technically is no best game.
@TheRetroPrime Ocarina of Time isn't a RPG, so it's hard to compare to the two. And taste plays a much larger role, along with nostalgia. FFVII is my favorite game of all time. Is it the best? No, it's not. There is no best game, and I'm getting sick and hearing over and over that OoT is the best game ever made.

@TheRetroPrime FFVII is slow, like all RPG's are. It's not repetitive, far from it. Characters are a subjective thing. The game spends a lot of time developing each character. As for freedom, you can literally travel the entire world, visit every city/village/cave at any time during the game. Hundreds of weapon/armour/items/spells to carry.

I hope they don't remake FFVII. It would only be a further raping of the game. You don't see Nintendo going around remaking Mario, Metroid or Zelda games. Enhancements, yes, but they further the franchises and continue to make great games. Square-Enix can't make a good game anymore, so the just continue to milk the old great games.
Anyway. They can't remake this game, and keep the same scope. It's just not possible to make a game of that size. It would be too massive.

If they remade FFVII, I wouldn't mind if and only if they left the voice acting out. Music is what creates atmosphere, and this soundtrack would be fantastic in any modern game. It has stood the test of time... much like the City of the Ancients.

I think this song has a very... melancholy feeling to it. For me... it always reminded me that I was going to lose my mage. And it kinda has a very hopeless theme to it. I always liked this more than most of the other tracks mostly because of the ambiance it creates for the locale.

@FinalFantasyLov3r124 I dunno, 12 is good fun, although running from A to B letting your people auto attack everything gets old quickly. FF13 is seriously streamlined, it's not my favourite FF game by a long shot but it's a fairly enjoyable game in it's own right.

Im a huge fan of final fantasy series and im starting to notice that even though new final fantasy games keep coming out with new graphics and new storylines, in a way they sort of ruin them. they're shorter, less interesting storyline, and you can barely free-roam between towns. my favorite final fantasy game has to be Crisis Core though. it had the best storyline for a prequel

AMAZING piece of music. It embodied the sense of abandonment that surrounded the Forgotten City's ruins. I was also expecting fights, so for a fair amount of time the dreary tone of the tune exacerbated my fear of new and much stronger monsters.
Oddly enough, I find this song very relaxing, and it's one of my favorite videogame songs of all time. Until about a month ago, it was in my "Top 25 Most Played" in my iTunes (out of 1700 songs...yes, I know that's sad...J-E-N-O-V-A is still there).

I can't conceive of anyone not liking this game. One doesn't haven't to think it's as amazing as the "fanatics" do but to say it sucks or overrated is just plain wrong. It was a hugely important game and has a deep and interesting story with great landscapes and places to explore. What's to hate about it? I just don't get it

@NostalgicSince2005 There's alot of touchy things that can go along with critiquing with stuff such as music, video games, etc. But there are alot of facts out there that while on the surface seem like just opinions...are hard to argue with. Therefore it's true that FF7 is "atleast a good game" in the same way that "Thriller" is atleast a good album.

FF7's quality is something that's determined by the player, not a number (unless they're 100% mindless followers of a video game reviewer, but I doubt anyone's like that). And whether Thriller was a success or not, although it reached a point most likely 99% of people agree is successful, is still subjective and is completely based on what someone considers successful.

Regardless of how good FFVII stands up to the test of time, or against it's peers in the FF game series, there's no denying that for a lot of gamers, it defined a huge part, if not all of their early gaming career. I know it colored almost the entirety of my childhood, which, for myself and I'm sure for a lot of other fans, is enough to make it hold merit all these years later.

@TheRetroPrime Ocarina of Time isn't a RPG, so it's hard to compare to the two. And taste plays a much larger role, along with nostalgia. FFVII is my favorite game of all time. Is it the best? No, it's not. There is no best game, and I'm getting sick and hearing over and over that OoT is the best game ever made.
So stop this damn tribalism, and appreciate both games, as they are clearly (no matter which one is superior) superb games.

@TheRetroPrime FFVII is slow, like all RPG's are. It's not repetitive, far from it. Characters are a subjective thing. The game spends a lot of time developing each character. As for freedom, you can literally travel the entire world, visit every city/village/cave at any time during the game. Hundreds of weapon/armour/items/spells to carry.
Maybe you should try playing it. As you clearly have no idea what you're on about.

Yes they where all announced at the same time but Final Fantasy XIII is the mainstream game, Like Final Fantasy XII is too FF XII revenant wings, that is a spin off same goes for these other XIII games, it's just like saying Links crossbow training isn't a spin off from the Zelda series basically it doesn't have it's own numbered entry or full on title, it gets it's title from FF XIII making it a spin off series from that game.
