  • hi i just purchased a Victor Victrola 78 RPM Portable Phonograph 1927 VV2-60...what needle should i purchase..thanks

  • @NingasKugon09 The needles used with 78rpm phonographs have to be changed after every record side play. The needles are sold in 3 different types soft medium and loud tone. I mainly use soft and medium tone. If the reproducer has not been rebuilt in your machine it should be done to get the best sound out of it and reduce wear on your records. Only 78 rpm records made before the mid 30s should be played on your phonograph.

    Thanks

  • I first heard this song on TV in the movie "Yankee Doodle Dandy" starring James Cagney. The film's about the man who wrote this song - George M. Cohan.

  • Hi Edison Phonos, Nice tune. What model Diamond disc machine do you have? Looks like a WM or Chippendale Council?

  • Hi, this is a william and mary console.

    Thanks

  • I have this record on amberola cylinder.

This record is 5659 diamond disc ???

  • The diamond disc is number 50443. Even thought many blue amberols were dubbed off dimaond discs I have never seen a blue amberol and diamond disc with the same number.

    Thanks

  • I think "5659" is the master recording number.

  • Thank you for posting!

Sounds pretty good for an etched label diamond disc from WW1.
