its been my dream since i was 6 to become and orca trainer, but as i live in england that dream of working with these animals will mean i'll have to move over to the states as they dont have places like seaworld here anymore :(
This was my dream, too. I wish I had decided to go for it instead of thinking it was too much for me. I hate public speaking and I was told they didn't make much money. Now, looking back, it would have been worth it. If this is what you want to do, go for it. Even if you think you can't do it now, you can always work up to it. Practice really does make you better at just about anything. If this is your love, take the steps to do it. Don't let anyone tell you it's not practical. Enjoy your job.
My dream job!!! i am currently a swimmer and runner going into my senior year at high school. I plan on attending the exotic animal training and management program at moorpark college. I know for a fact that my dream will come true... I just have to always keep working towards it. I feel that there is no job more rewarding than interacting and playing with the top predator of the sea. I hope all who dream of this job keep working hard and that all your dreams come true.

this is my dream job!! the first time i went to seaworld when i was four 1/2 i said to my mum and dad i want to do that!! but now i need to become an american citerzen, i need to take drama lessons to boost my confidence just a bit more, and alhough i'm a strong and confident swimmer i need to improve on my diving :L:L because at the moment there more like belly flops than dives :L
omg i met the guy talking in the video! his name is chuck! he is such a nice guy! he works at SWSA with the belugas now. Hes in the azul show. I got to meet him when we went to work the the pacific white sided dolphins and belugas!
I Am Tring To Be An Marine biologist! Then Moving onto be a dolphin trainer! :). I swam with dolphins in the keys an djust by that i knew what i wanted to be, its an amazing experience that some kids wont even notice until they see it with their own eyes!.
Ahh, I've been to the Career Camp four years in a row, I lovee SeaWorld and it's been my dream since I was ten to be a dolphin trainer. <3 Just generally working at SeaWorld with the animals, I love them all, even the Sharks in the Sharks Deep Dive that we got to swim with at the camp!(:
I'd really like to do this, atleast try it out, I didn't go to college, but then again, I don't believe you can learn to understand an animal by studying from books. I look good, I can act, I'm a great swimmer and i've worked with animals and helped train them (African Elephant, Camels, Macaws) It would suck if you need a college degree for this, training animals is all about feeling and respect, respect the animal and you get SO much back in return..
@laurensmalter I went to the SeaWorld Career Camp, and they do accept people who aren't college graduates if they are bubbly, and do exceedingly well on the swim test. They do LIKE to see that you have a 4 year degree, they will take all kinds of majors but they especially like a major in marine biology or psychology. Job openings are very rare too, it's good to work at the park maybe in the education program because if you already are with SeaWorld, they like to do hiring within the parks.
I have wanted to be an orca trainer since i was three! im a pretty good swimmer for a tall and skinny thirteen year old (; hope my dreams come true! I will try!
haha, funny the end. :D i would like to be an orca trainer. :))) but i can't speak XD because i would speak the English more better... but now i'm learning hard!:) everything else is OK. but the swimming isn't the perfect, but in this summer or the next, i will swim everyday. :D
@MalteseLover11 the swim test is 250 ft in exactly 2:20secs then you have to swim 100 ft under water with only one breath allowed once you have taken the first dive under water, then swimming to the bottom getting hte weight once you have done that they will put you straight into a microphone test after that they will make you carry two 50 pound buckets and make you run up a hill and down again, pass all that only then do you get an interview,
I feel fortunate to have grown up on a farm and have done a lot of the things shown in this video. Lifting feed bags, hay bales, grooming, mucking stalls, moving big animals, and sometime getting hurt by them isn't a lot of fun, but it's worth being allowed to keep the animals.
For all of those who wish to do this as a career, I wish you good luck!
Number one reason I am on a travel swim and dive team are the faces of whales and dolphins who love you to bits. : D Straight A student, (planning to stay that way) and continuing to persue my dream to become a killer whale trainer, throw whatever you want at me, animal training is hard, life is harder....
I WILL be a killer whale trainer. I hope it comes true for any one eles also. : D

So, the freestyle is 220 feet, but about 110 of that 220 feet is underwater? So it's not 2 seperate swim tests?

52% of respondents reported marine-mammal-inflict-

on the face. 30%+ injuries were severe (90
cases) either a deep wound requiring stitches, or a
fracture. Contact more than 50

Respiratory diseases were also reported in nearly a fifth
of marine mammal workers, including diseases such as
TB. Exposure to marine mammals can
involve a health risk to people working with the animals,
but it can also threaten the health of the public. In an internationally distributed survey of people who
come into contact with marine mammals (primarily
those who work with these animals), 23 % of
respondents reported contracting a skin rash or similar
ailment. Naomi A. Rose PhD -2009
