thanks for the reply...but I figured out why it was "warping" ... I was doing the front post dc in the same post that I was crocheting into the stitch ... I did finish the hat and it came out beautiful. I have subscribed and have shared your page with a few friends so hopefully your subcriptions will grow a little.
i have succeeded in making this hat once with a fuzzy yarn and it turned out great but when i use any regular yarn (simply soft) the beanie comes out in like a doll size. why does this happen and how can i fix it because i dont want i big fuzzy beret
@widedwondergirl - are you using the correct size hook? Maybe you are crocheting a little tighter. Try using a larger size hook. Is this for an adult? Try a size J or K hook.
@yolandasotolopez i am using a J sized hook and all i can think of is that maybe i need a different yarn. I love your videos though and i cant thank you enough for your helpful replies
Hi Yonalda...I am a beginner and although I can follow the your patterns pretty easily I find that my circles don't lay flat the way yours seem to..could you suggest what I may be doing wrong. I got to the point where I started to do the front double crochet and then it started waving up and not laying flat. I have pulled it out too many times and am getting frustrated. But I really want to make this hat I LOVE IT !!

Hey Yolanda, thank you for the tutorial. I was able to do a Rasta Beanie for my brother-n-law. I posted a video response for you, and of course I will be subscribing. Can't wait to see your next tutorial!
mine is doing the same thing, it's flowering up instead of laying flat, huum, let me go back and see what I've done wrong, I reaally want to know how to make thins
do u have any crocheting for pot holders I'm a beginner and I want to start with that second. right now I want to make something for my son's mp3 player for his birthday next month.
@anandazen30 - Round 1 is 8 dc, round 2 is 16 dc (an increase in each chain, meaning 2 dc in each chain) Round 3 is 32 dc (An increase in each chain) Then on 4th round, you start with 2 dc in first chain, 1 dc in the next chain and repeat this pattern all the way around. At the end of the 4th round you should have 48 dc total. So the pattern is 2dc, 1 dc. I hope that helps

round 3 you said i should have 33 DC? i have a huge gap at the end of each round. I am using the hooks and yarn that you're using. don't like what im doing!!!
What size yarn do you use and approx how much does it take? I never know what to buy! I am really excited to try this hat though, have been looking for the right tutorial for awhile! Thank you so much for posting!
I love these hats and appreciate you taking the time to post a video, but you go so fast I can't follow you. I'm guessing I'm not the only beginner that doesn't have the names of the stitches memorized. Your fingers are really flying! I'm going to try to find a different video geared to beginners.
@reddheddz - check out the short videos I just posted which slowly shows all the stitches used in the beanies. There are some that show the front post, back post, chains, dc etc.. they are a good start and can help you practice the stitches. So sorry, I try to go very slowly when I do these videos. Normally off camera I crochet much faster. I will try to slow down. : )
oOH! I within the first 23 seconds of this video I just want to say thank you ! very pretty. I will go back to watching the video now the Beret is soooo pretty! if I have questions is it okay to inbox you?
@chinewmarie - of course.. I will try to answer promptly. Sometimes work gets a little busy, but I try. You are going to love this beret, it comes out sooo cute. If you get stuck check out my stitch tutorial video on the Back post stitch. : )
Thanx so much for these vids it was so fun to make I made a mistake and used the I hook all the way through and it came out huge but everyone loved it any way say it reminded them of that red hat on The Secret Garden and my best friend stole it frm me lol
@W3llM1ssB3haved - I'm glad you like it. It's always a good sign that you did a great job when your friends want your items. As long as you can wear it! Now, you'll have to make another one with the correct size hook, you will be able to see the difference in the size.
@Bethintx1 Thank you, that means a lot to me. I love your berets and projects. Please feel free to share my videos on your channel. I started posting my videos because I too was teaching some girls to crochet and they didn't seem to be progressing. It's like you said they would get lost, forget what was taught, or make a mistake and couldn't fix it or move forward. After much frustration
@Bethintx1 - after much frustration they convinced me to start posting the videos, now I'm hooked. I'm really having fun doing this. It's so different from my work. I'm a Realtor in San Diego
mine keeps scrunching up all crazy :( help

Can I use a bulky yarn to make this?
seabrax1024 2 weeks ago in playlist crochet
@seabrax1024 - I've never tried it in bulky. You might want to use a smaller hook if you are using the bulky yarn otherwise it might come out too big

@allycenelson - This takes only about 7 oz of yarn. I think I used Red Lion, but any medium weight worsted yarn will work.
